Summary: One of the best
Review: I first started reading Anne McCaffrey when I was in third grade. My mom started reading it and the two chapters she would read me weren't enough, so I snagged the book from her and read it myself. I read Dragonflight when I was in fifth grade and I'm now in 8th grade and have almost read every single one of Ms. McCaffreys books

Dragonflight I thought was one of the best books she has written. I fell loved the character of Lessa since I first met her. The series has just been enchanting. I can't wait for the next book. My favorite characters would be F'nor and F'lessen.

I would recomend the books to anyone who is just a little bit interested. My friend was and she read a lot of the series before she stopped with school work.

Summary: A good fantasy book
Review: I liked this book a lot. The character depth was terrific and the story contained everything you can possibly want in a book-fantasy, action, romance, etc. However, I couldn't really get into it as much because I read this one after reading a few later in the series so I already knew the basic story. My main recommendation is to read this one before reading the other ones in the Dragonriders of Pern series. You definately won't regret it as this book is the beginning of the best fantasy series ever written.

Summary: A Superb Novel! Must Read!
Review: Anne McCaffery, a true master of Sci-Fi and Fantasy weaves another tale that holds your mind and heart straight through. You quickly become one with the characters, sucked into the story. And, if the book starts to get boring, there's always an exciting eliment not far ahead to pull you back in. The entire series is superb, everyone should read all of them to see how perfectly this book fits in. As you read each new novel you meet new characters and become intwined personally in the story. This book is amazing!

Summary: P.E.R.N.
Review: I have been reading this series of books since I first found Dragonflight over 30 years ago. I have read every word written about the dragons and people of Pern that McCaffrey has put on paper. I find the only thing wrong with them to be minor inconsistencies. Lytol in this book is reported to be the rider of a green dragon, later in the series it is a brown. Moreta and Torene are reported to be from Ruatha. From later books written about the earlier periods we know this to be untrue. Moreta's family came from the Plains and raised runnerbeasts. Torene was actually from near Fort the original settlement in the north and while she did become Bendens first weyrwoman she was not born or raised in Ruatha. As I said minor issues, very minor in the scheme of things. This book is an excellent read and begins the tale of Pern in an exciting way. I have taken to reading the series based on a chronological order from the colonists landing all the way through to the end. Taken as a series it is an extraordinary body of work not all the books rate 5 stars or even 4....most do. I highly recommend this book and the entire series.

Summary: This is one of the best books I have ever read!
Review: I have read most of the Anne McCaffrey books, but this one continues to be my favorite. That is not surprising, since Lessa is my favorite character. This is about how she became Weyrwoman, and why in the later books there are songs and ballads about her and all the great things she did. I won't say any more, because I don't doubt it'll spoil the book, but I def think everyone should read this book, no matter how old they are.

Summary: Dazzling!
Review: Words don't really describe the amazing feeling one must experience during dragonflight and the fighting of Thread, but Anne McCaffery manages to show it in the unfailing loyalty of the dragonriders, above all things, to Pern. The point-of-view in this book, mostly through Lessa's inexperienced eyes, shows the complexity of Weyr politics and the inimitable bond between rider and dragon. Also mixed in is the relationship between F'lar and Lessa--not a fairy tale romance, but love all the same...P>The next books in the series are just as good, if not better, but this is a great start to a great series.

Summary: A Pioneer in the Genre.
Review: Anne creates a world that dazzles the imagination, captures the heart, and feeds the spirit. In a time when men ruled the genre, she pioneered a simpler, more character driven novel. It was the first fantasy novel I ever read, and it remains one of my favorites to this day.

No one has come close to duplicating "Anne's Dragons" and personally I don't think anyone ever will. She is a Wordsmith in every sense of the word, and I could only aspire to the level of mastery she's attained.

Everyone should read "Dragonflight" because it will hook you on one of the best series ever written.

Summary: An amazing book!!!
Review: This book is absolutly the best! Caffrey intruigues and captures us in the wonderful world of Pern and how the dragonriders protect the world from the evil Threads, and it's simply amazing the way she captures us with the bond between rider and dragon.

Summary: The chronicles continue.
Review: For me, this book wasn't as gripping as Dragonquest & some of the other books in the series, but I liked it nonetheless. It seemed more like an opportunity to introduce us to more of the characters that we met in the first book, and who we would keep meeting in later books, than a stand-alone story. If you are interested in Pern, definitely don't read this one by itself. It's best to read the books in order as many of the people and story lines run through more than 1 book and catching some in mid-stream could be distracting.
