Summary: Sad to see it end...
Review: Once again, I have been riveted to a Shannara book. This has got to be the best fantasy series I have ever read (including the Magic Kingdom series). I'm just sorry to see it end, I want more and more and more... Terry can't you do at least 10 more in this series? Please?????!!!???

Summary: Another outstanding effort by Terry Brooks
Review: Terry Brooks has outdone himself again. This book is destined to be considered one of the GREAT parts of what may be the best series of fantasy ever written--sorry Mr. Tolkein. This particular book completes the Shannarra epic and leaves no questions unanswered. I am truly sorry to see it come to an end.

Summary: Great fantasy action. A must-read for Brooks' fans
Review: I've been a fantasy fan since threee years now. I guess my favorite authors are Tolkien and Brooks. "The First King of Shannara" is one of the best books I have ever read. I recommend that you read first all of the Shannara saga first because of some details (for example: the one who forged the sword, the true story about Allanon, etc) that are better appreciated by the ones familiar to the story of the Four Lands. Overall, it's a great title (perhaps the best in the Shannara line).

Summary: An excellent end to a first-class saga
Review: When I first saw First King, I thought it would just be a review of the beginning of The Sword of Shannara. Once I started reading, I could not put the book down. It clears up any holes in the Shannara saga, and it keeps you wondering what's going to happen next, just like the rest of Terry Brooks' novels. If you want a book that'll keep you up all night with suspense and excitement, this is a must-read.

Summary: Awesome, Excellent, Amazing
Review: Fantasy readers delight! One of the most amazing books I have read. Terry Brooks, master of fantasy has done it again. I enjoyed this book better than The Hobbit by J.R.R Tolkien (R.I.P). The battle at Paranor was somewhat horrifying and the other battles were awesome too. I laughed hard when the big army was slaughtered by mere traps. Well, instead of giving some of the book away I will tell you about the plot. Bremen a druid, tried to tell the druids about the evil Warlock Lord. The druids were stupid about it and did not believe him. Their stupidity cost them their lives, besides a handful of the last of the druids with the power to destroy the Warlock Lord. Now,he druids had escaped, but they needed a weapon to kill the Warlock Lord..... Horrifying battles, awesome plot, great story. This book has definently lived up to a ten star rating.

Summary: Best Da je vu I ever had!
Review: This book showed an excellent mix of reality twisted with an uncharacterized since of being born again with these people. Traveling with them you are enveloped in the trust in life that is so fragilely held onto. They embark on a great quest for liberation from the evil which has arisen from ancient wait and is now stalking life in the four lands. You journey with them and partake in their victories and their defeat. If you have ever wanted to step out of this world to glimpse another I invite you to try First King of Shannara, and be amazed.

Summary: Brooks is King
Review: I have read Terry Brooks' novels since The Sword. After The Talismans, I began to wonder. Who was Breman? Did he make the sword? Is he really Allanon's dad? How did the druids die? These questions were answered in First King. This book kicks major ass!

Summary: Mediocrity at it's best
Review: The writing reminds me of that of a college student brainstorming the night before a paper is due. There is potential but Brooks seems to have a cheap and fast cop-out arranged for each intense part. It's as if he's constantly 10 minutes away from his deadline. Instead of constructing ingenious escapes and daring attacks, Bremen too often comes forward and says he just devised a new magic. Sure it's dangerous and he will be weak for the rest of his life but it just might work. And of course it works. Suddenly, 20 pages later, the characters are in a jam and, lo and behold, Bremen constructs a new magic more dangerous than the one before. But it just might work.....

Summary: A MASTERFUL WORK BY TERRY BOOKS
Review: I have read most of the episodic Shannara adventures and I found this one to be the most mature, character-wise. Terry Brooks not only tells a magnificent story which takes place 500 years before his first episode in this series, but in this book he captures and presents the thoughts and feelings of his characters better than all his previous Shannara adventures. Beautifully done!!!

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: The best Shannara book yet.
Review: I have read every Shannara book from the Sword of Shannara to the Talismans of Shannara and a lot of questions popped into my mind over the course of my Shannara reading such as who built the Sword of Shannara, and how exactly did the Druids fall from power? Well all those answers and more are revealed in The First King of Shannara. Terry Brooks comes out with rich detail that makes you feel like your living the book out as your reading it. Not many authors can write the way Terry Brooks can and not often does Terry Brooks write like he did in The First King of Shannara.
