Summary: Great Book, Great read.
Review: The Speaker for the Dead is an amazing book. I read it for the second time a couple of weeks ago and it confirmed my feeling that it is much better than Ender's Game. (Don't get me wrong, I loved Ender's Game). However, I think those people who rant and rave about how this book, or Ender's Game for that matter, is the best SF book ever need to read Dune (Frank Herbert) and the Foundation series (Isaac Asimov). But Card is one of the best SF writers ever, no question about that, he really makes you care about his chracters

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: A very worthy sequel
Review: I did not think that it was possible to top Ender's Game, but OSC may have done it. He does not make the mistake of writing Ender's Game II, but rather a totally different novel that can stand on its own. Ender has grown with age and experience, and it shows. Card manages to combine a great plot, wonderful, deep characters, and a philosophical debate about the nature of sentience and the role that protecting the species does and should play in dealings with others. This is one of the best books you will ever read

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: Gut Wrenching, real, and definitely a keeper.
Review: For those who enjoyed the fast pace of Enders game, this book will seem like a shock. For those who have a deep understanding and feel for science fiction, this is a must have. This is one of the most captivating books of our time, and should be required reading.

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: couldn't put it down...
Review: this book is an example of card's wonderful ability to use science fiction as a medium for exploring the human 'condition'. the characters are wonderful and the plot moves along swiftly... even if you aren't a fan of ender's game (which i most certainly am) you will find something to enjoy in this book.

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: The best sci fi sequel ever!
Review: An amazing continuation of the heroic "Ender's Game" novel. Events so moving that the reader can't help but sympathize with the characters. Written by one of the greatest writers of all time.

Summary: Orson Scott Card has done it again...
Review: I read Ender's Game last month. Then I heard that there was a sequel to it. The next day I went to the library and it took me but 2 days to read this book. It was what my old English teacher would have called a sticky book, I couldn't put this book down! Orson Scott Card has overdone himself this time. Although, it isn't written in the same environment as Ender's Game, Card successfully brought the characters personality into the problems that he faced in in Speaker for the Dead. A true Hugo Award Winner, for science fiction.

Summary: The powerful sequel to Ender's Game strikes to the heart
Review: Not only does this story continue the live of Andrew "Ender" Wiggen and his sister Valentine, but it introduces a myriad of unique and interesting charecters. Meet Olhado, the boy with the metal eyes. Or Grego, the mischevious and quaralsome child. Ela, the mother figure in a broken home. And Novinha, eternally martyring herself for reasons Ender has to discover. You will love Jane, the computer entity that dwells in the ansible connections between worlds. And most imortantly, find out how Ender comes to grips with his xenocide and learns the secrets of a new alien species

Rating: 4 stars
Summary: A solid sequel; not as good as the original
Review: Speaker for the Dead is a long elaboration of the Ender Wiggin character introduced in "Ender's Game". The super-war-child is now a super-peace-adult, traveling the universe trying to make up for his childhood "crimes". This book kept me glued for the first two thirds, but definitely lost its way near the end. Having contrived one of SF's best conclusions in "Ender's Game", I had big expectations of a similarly stunning conclusion and was sorely disappointed. Moreover, the sequel-necessitating loose ends really pissed me off. Still, this is a solid effort.

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: An excellent sequel to Ender's Game and a must-read
Review: Although lacking the sharp surprises and quicker-pace of its prequel "Ender's Game," this book delves into a more philosophical realm and is as intriguing and thought-provoking as its older sister. Earthlings have colonized many planets since the dreaded buggers were killed, and now, on the planet Lusitania, a new race has been discovered, whose strikingly different and frightening ways of life begin to spark new conflicts until Ender Wiggin -- now a much older Speaker for the Dead -- through observation realizes certain connections, and sums up the courage to find the truth. This book is a must-read for any sci-fi reader

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: Unlike Ender's Game - better
Review: The above critique is harsh and unfair. This is (so far, I haven't read Children of the Mind") the best Ender's Series Book. It is much more indepth and thought-provoking than Ender's Game, but it doesn't have the same intense flow of an action book that Ender's Game does. The view the reader gets of Ender in Ender's Game is only a misleading scratch in the surface of this caring, human-nature genius. This book has more originality and drive than Xenocide. Speaker for the Dead is very different than Ender's Game, it is not another "war" book, it is a "serious" book, and definitely worth reader AFTER Ender's Game the adult Ender.
