Rating: Summary: The End of the World, The Anti-Christ, a Demon HAHAHAHA!!! Review: No, I do not have a warped sence of humour. All that I think is funny is that you probably don't have a copy of this great book. May I ask why? That is not a very good excuse! BUY IT NOW!
This is by far, far, far the best book EVER! Firstly take two brilliant authors, Neil Gaiman (Author of the Sandman comics) and Terry Pratchett (Author of the Discworld books), secondly take a excellent storyline (What could be funnier than the Apocolypse?), throw in some excellent characters the Anti-Christ, a Demon, an Angel, Beelzebub and, of course, a dog. TA-DA! You have one helluva book(Pun intended). Read it now before the is really upon us. No wonder Terry Pratchett said "The Devil made them do it"!
Rating: Summary: Hilarious! Review: If you are at all a fan of Monty Python or simply enjoy a funny but intelligent book, read Good Omens.
Rating: Summary: Cunning, Fantastic! Armageddon? Bring it on. Review: Terry Pratchett and Neil Gaiman make for an exceptional team. Bringing their unique senses of humor together, making armageddon good for a laugh. The horsemen now ride harleys and the devil (Crowley) and the angel ( Araziphale) are helping each other......read it once or ten times, but I guarantee..... On the day of judgement you'll go with a grin and a belly-ache.
Rating: Summary: Infinitely re-readable. Review: Ever finished a book that was so good, so great, so indescribable, you didn't want to start another one for a week or so? I read books like some people eat popcorn, but this is only the second one I've ever given a "ten." Many times I just closed the book and sat laughing at the sheer _cleverness_ of what was happening. I could, and will, read this one over and over.
Rating: Summary: Fans of either author will not be disappointed. Fantastic! Review: As a fan of Pratchett's "Discworld" and Gaimen's "Sandman," I had high hopes and expectation for "Good Omens," and I was not disappointed. The book is darkly hilarious, with both authors' respective styles clearly evident. Also in ample supply are excellent character development and an engaging story, which are also to be expected from a tale written by these two master storytellers. The contemporary forms into which angel, demon, and horsemen of the Apocalypse have evolved reflect humanity's own bizarre advances (decline?). It's been a long time since I enjoyed a book this much. I would heartily recommend it to anyone with a slightly dark sense of humor - anyone without one probably wouldn't read a book about the Apocalypse anyway
Rating: Summary: All other reviews are accurate, true, but... Review: I'd like to add this:
If you happen to be one of those people who thought ending up someday running a tiny old bookshop tucked away in a nice, inconspicuous corner of London would be a pretty neat idea - beware! This line of business is fraught with danger & you might meet a few people that are not really quite who/what they seem to be...
For all those who love reading customer reviews
I'd like to put in a coss-reference to another author, Diana Wynne Jones, who supposedly writes children's literature(!)... Neil Gaiman is a fan of hers, apparently
Rating: Summary: A real kick in the butt! Review: This book was more fun than being locked in a room with a horny warthog! Buy it today! Buy it for your friends! They will love you for it, and maybe even more
Rating: Summary: could the end of the world really be this funny? Review: I recieved this book by accident from a bookclub but was too lazy to send it back. Now I'm glad I didn't. Though I'm not familiar with Gaiman, Pratchett is among the greatest comic authors I've personally read. This translation of the apocolypse kept me rolling on the floor all the way through. There are so many intricately woven comic bits to this story that you really could read it twice and still not have caught everything. If you read this book, I guarentee you will laugh until your sides hurt. And be sure not to miss any of the footnotes. They're one of the best parts
Rating: Summary: 10 out of 10 - And then some! Review: An excellent book! Comparable to "Hitchhikers Guide" - only funny (and no, I didn't mean to say 'funnier'). An absolute 'must read'.
What are you waiting for? Order it now
Rating: Summary: I paid $35.00 for this book, I loved it so much. Review: Yes, it's true. At the San Diego Comicon, a bookseller sold me an advance printing of "Good Omens" signed by *both* authors for $35.00. What can I say? That's how much I love this book and these two authors
