Rating: Summary: good book Review: good book, i got a little tired of it in parts but all in all great pratchett novel(gaiman too:)
Rating: Summary: Humo(u)r that you'll love again and again Review: This is probably the funniest book I have ever re-read about a million times. This book stars the most roundly characterized angel and demon I have ever read about. Also, although I am a Christian and at least one of the authors is an atheist, I don't think there was anything one would find objectionable unless one was really hard-line or forgot that the book was fiction. This book is amazingly funny, and very British. If you have even the smallest inclination to read it, get it. You won't be disappointed.
Rating: Summary: great story, hilarious characters Review: this is the funniest book i've read in a long time. despite religious overtones, the text never gets too into it. the plot isn't confusing, but it is complex and appeals to intellect. the characters are interesting and well-developed and the horsemen are just perfect. i recommend this to anyone who would like to laugh. also, some great quotes about God and people in general.
Rating: Summary: The Apocolyps? Review: When I was first handed the book I was not sure what to think. All it took was reading the back cover and I was hooked. I have never enjoyed a book so much. The combination of Neil Gaiman and Terry Pratchett made for an unforgettable story. I don't think I will ever be able to look at the end of the world quite the same. Not to mention the now 8 (though 4 temporary) Horsemen of the Apocolyps. An outstanding job was done with this story. I would recomend it to anyone.
Rating: Summary: The funniest book I've ever read! Review: This book is a must read for anyone with an open mind and a warped sense of humor. It's laugh-out-loud-funny! I couldn't put it down!
Rating: Summary: A Fabulous Twist on the End of the World Review: I can't wait for Neil Gaiman and Terry Pratchett to team up again - I do not normally read books in this genre but after reading Neverwhere by Neil Gaiman and Good Omens, I have started to. Unfortunately, nothing else lives up the wit and sheer brilliance of Good Omens. The characters are well drawn, the writing is excellent and the plot is a riot - what else can a reader ask for? I found myself laughing aloud while reading this and sharing certain sentences with others within hearing range. I also tried to give myself a limit on how much I could read each day to make this book last. It did not work so I am patiently waiting for Neil and Terry to team up again. This book is worth every penny and then some!
Rating: Summary: Excellent! Review: A brilliant spin on 'The Omen', with Terry Pratchett's comedy tempered by the darker humour of Neil Gaiman. Tremendous fun to read time and time again.
Rating: Summary: Extremely entertaining and hilarilously funny Review: I laughed out loud several times while reading this book. Though I'm not English, I do have a good appreciation for the English humor. This is only a small step down from Douglas Adams' type of fare. Very funny insights and observations on a subject that usually doesn't lend itself to humor...namely the "Apocalypse"...
Rating: Summary: This one is not for Damien Review: You got to have a little English sense of humour, mix it with a bit of trivia and general English knowledge...maybe watch the movie (all 4 if you want)and then...read this book. I couldn't stop laughing when reading this...i stayed up all night trying to finish this...I was thinking about the book while at work, at dinner etc etc...missed it even...although I got to admit the ending's a bit of a downer cause the first 99.9999% of the book is so funny....that towards the end...it was getting a tad dry. So except for the last 5 pages or so, read this and laugh till you tear and realize that morning has broken...great stuff this book...great stuff.
Rating: Summary: enjoyable fluff Review: Fun, easy, and mostly forgettable. Gaiman and Pratchett don't fall into the trap, like most writers in this genre, of relying on [too many] bad jokes and puns to hold up their story. The characters are enjoyable, though some of end up being a little underdeveloped. The story kind of flops about a bit at the end; what it needed, i think, is just a bit more time and care. All in all, though, rather enjoyable fluff.
