Rating: Summary: Ender's Review Review: Ender' Game is a very interesting novel about a genius boy who overcomes and becomes his worst fears. Being abused by his brother and almost everyone except his sister Ender learns to hide his fears. He was a third child and everyone hated him for it except the government because he would be their last chance to save the earth against the buggers. Ender makes it into battle school and is isolated; whenever he would make a friend they would move him. They would never let him stay in one place too long. Because of all this he was not really a happy young boy but he kept going to save the world. Ender was always determined to win and so he never lost a single battle. He graduated early and became the commander of the third invasion without even knowing it thinking it was just a game. But he won the third invasion and did not know till he completely destroyed the buggers. Ender was a very strong and intelligent person. All he ever wanted was to have friends and be happy but they would not let him do so. In my opinion this is a very good book and I have and will continue to recommend it to other people. It puts childish and manly characteristics all into one little boy, which in my opinion is great. And although he never had anyone and was always alone he pulled through. I liked everything in the book except that Ender did not find out about how the bugger's wanted peace until after he wiped them out but on the other hand he fixes that problem by trying to find a safe place to put the last remaining bugger queen egg in a safe world.
Rating: Summary: Great Book! A must read for anyone! Review: Ender's Game by Orson Scott Card is a great book! This book is one of the best that I have ever read in my life. It is clever, thoughtful and thrilling adventure. Ender's Game is a nice, easy, and entertaining read for people of any age, even for people whose first language is not English. Everyone should read it! I read this book for my English class and was very happy that my teacher chose it. At first I thought this book was going to be boring because I was not much of a science fiction fan but after reading this book I became one, realizing that I was completely wrong about it. I liked this book so much that I want to read the other books in this series, like, Speaker for the Dead. This book has a perfect combination of action and drama. Card tells the story in such a way that readers will not want to put this book down for anything instead the reader is eager to find out what will happen next and how the things will get resolved. Moving through Ender's triumphs and dark times, there is never a compelling reason to stop reading the book. The book is about a young boy named Andrew "Ender" Wiggin who is recruited to the battle school to train for the bugger (alien) war where he is tested to the max. He becomes the best at the battle school and is transferred to Command School at a very young age where he becomes the hero of the bugger war. However, Ender has to deal with the fear of his brother Peter that was mean to Ender when he was home and being away from the love of his sister Valentine. It is an exploration of the human mind and a look at topics such as power, greed, hate, innocence, and the idea that no one is in control of their lives. This book is a must read for anyone. Don't wait buy it right now!
Rating: Summary: The best science fiction Review: Ender's Game is a very popular science fiction which is suitable for any age. Besides the fact that many science fictions have included little boy save the mankind and have a "killer" side of personality, this book can actually pull it off and add a lot of aspect to it. Valentine as the sister of Ender in the story is a very complicated part. She, as a teenage girl, was confused about a lot of things. When she was dealing with the relationship between her father and her creation, a computer screen name with political opinions, she was not comfortable with it. Like all teenagers these days, she didn't know how to deal with it. This is something that I was looking for, something that I can relate to. While reading something that one can relate to, is a very good feeling for the reader. One thing also good about this book is that the ending is tremendously clever. How can one think of having the enemy came back and in a way, they were apologizing for what they had done? That was awesome. Also, the inner conflict of Ender between "power" and "love" was totally classical! He was capable of utter violence, but still a loving person. The way Ender's Game pulled politics and Internet together was a great idea. The chaos it had made to the mankind is a warning for all of us. Peter Wiggin as the best politicien figure I have ever read was a typical power holder. This book sets a very good model of looking for the real "peaceful" environment.
Rating: Summary: ENDER'S GAME Review: Enders' Games, by Orson Scott Card, describing a bright, young boy who is train with a powerful skill to help saving the Earth from the attack of aliens, which are known for the Buggers. Ender Wiggin became unbeatble through out the practice battles and in war games. Enders, which were born to be a "Third", are always being treated badly by his older brother, Peter. His image of Peter give him a impression of being in the battle, he need to know he would have to protect himself from gietting hurt from anyones. Valentine, Ender's sister. Who Ender only love, give him a invesible power which kept him going in the battle school. So he know that he would have to fight the buggers, in order to save Valentine from getting hurt. Card described how Ender were struggling between the fact that he need to continue on, yet on the other side of him, he just want to be normal child. Who would suffering love from the parent. On the other hand, Valentine and Peter were raising power in the newspaper column, to help themselves being notice. In battle school, one group of children, trying to be military geniuses to saved the plante being attack. Going through battle practice with different armies everyday. Card wrote a wonderful literature which it pass a message how children can be a intelligen creatures and full with humanity. It is a piece of literature which the plot can carry our motion and fantastic imagination about the battle fields. It is a joy to read this book, the interesting and surprising characters. Strongly recommand if you like science fiction.
Rating: Summary: Fair, but slow Review: I had to read this book in class and most of my classmates enjoyed it. I, however, did not. It was slow and predictable, contained precious few original ideas, the battle room was a good one, but the reading was dry. The book is nothing spactacular, don't bother with this one.-m-
Rating: Summary: Enders Game Review By K. Jenkins Review: I liked and disliked this book by Orson Scott Card. I liked the fact that the characters were so very different in every aspect. There was a lot of love and hate in this book. There was a sense of family love to and extent. It was as interesting portrayal of a war against aliens. The humans were preparing themselves for a war at a very young age, and I found that to be strange to read. I disliked the book because it was quite perdictable, many of the events that occured in this book I found hard to beleive would happen in the every day life of a human. I guess thats why this is a sci-fi book. I don't personally condone or enjoy reading about war so I was a little bias about all of the war games. Overall the book was pretty good, but not the type of book I usually read, but would reccommend to my little sister who does enjoy a good science-fiction novel. The time I spent reading this book was a valuable one to me because it was my first time actually reading a sci-fi book so I'm glad to have this one be my first. Due to the popularity of this book I was able to receive additional feedback from one of my co-workers, he enjoyed it so much he read the entire series.
Rating: Summary: I have never thought that it is this good! Review: "Ender's Game" is my first Science-Fiction book. Before I read Ender's Game, I'd always say that I hate Science fiction. I have always thought that Sci-fic books are only going to talk about stars, ships, and all of the other unrealistic things. Thing changed now; however. I love this book. It is an amazing sci-fic book!! I think that this book contains so many interesting images, with all of fighting on the battle ship. While I read,I can almost visualized what is happening in the battleroom. It seems very realistic. Not just that, but I feel that this book contains a strong plot. I think that this book is not only about fighting buggers, but it has a good, and interesting story to it. It is a story of a young kid who must struggle through life, and all of the pressure from "the game". It is about an intelligent kid who always have to find a way to fight his own battle. I think that this story has a great meaning. I think that this book could be read by any age. Eventhough that all of the charcters in the book are mostly children, it doesn't mean "children only". In my view, the book could be read by anyone because it is simply good. I, myself could not believe that I like this sci-fic book. It is true that I like it very much after I read it. I suggest to anyone who is "not a fan of sci-fic" would try this book. It might be the first experience, but it could be a good one.^_^.
Rating: Summary: Only if you are interested... Review: Maybe it's because I am not as interested in science fiction as the ones who told me about this book. I was dissappointed. But then again I never liked science fiction. To me, Ender's Game was any typical science fition. The good guys versus the bad guys. Of course the bad guys were gruesome creatures, in this case Buggers. In retrospect, this was a good story due to the superior last two chapters. The first thirteen chapters barely kept my interest. Through out those chapters, I found it very hard to relate to a bunch of seven and eight-year-olds who had the responsibility and intellect of grown men. I was also disturbed by what almost seemed like a deep seeded sexual interest between Ender and his sister. In the end, I almost didn't want to enjoy the last seventy pages because by that time I had so much resentment for the book, yet it shocked me to read the results. While reading the novel I foresaw its "plot twists" well ahead of their unveilings. This book will mostly appeal to self-perceived child geniuses who will see reflections of themselves in Ender. Readers with fond memories of being gifted children will swallow easily the possibilty of an 8-year old trained soldier. But with me not quite so... Only if you are interested in science fiction like Star Wars, etc. will I encourage it.
Rating: Summary: Reading Requirement for Ender's Game Review: In Orson Scott Card's book Ender's Game, Card uses science fiction and drama to capture the reader's interest. Although a little bit confusing in the beginning of the book, the plot begins to unravel as the reader progresses into the book. There is much action and suspense, as well as description, that I could not put the book down. I normally do not like science fiction; it is a real bore to me. However, I rather enjoyed and was very intrigued by this novel. Although set in outer space, it didn't, matter to me. It sparked my interest even more. The characters seemed so alive to me. It wasn't like they were living in a "normal" fantasy world, where everyone is happy. They lived in a world with chaos which everyone may be able to relate to. The plot was very original and Card kept it more and more interesting as the book progressed. I could imagine the scenes in my head. I would definitely recommend this book to a friend. This is one of the five books in my life that I have read from page one to the end without skipping chapters or pages. I felt that if I skipped even one sentence in the book, I would miss out on something important. Card has written an excellent book and deserves the awards that he has received.
Rating: Summary: READ and LEARN Review: Eventhough the story took place in another planet and in another time, the author did a wonderful job in portraying the scenes so we can all relate to. Ender is a character whom we can all learn from. If you are someone who like politic and competition, this is a great book for you. Ender's gave up so much to be best of the best. He learned lot of lessons during the process of becoming the best. We can also learn alot about competition by reading this book. How much a person must give up to be the best? is the question which this book can answer. There are many other lessons we can get from the character, Ender. The best thing about this book is the ways Ender dealt with problems he faced; it did matter what life threw at him, he would always have a solution. How he weighted out the consequences of every situation was just amazing. Well, I don't want to give out too much details about this book because everyone should buy one. Go get yourself this book for Christmas and you will able dealt with your future problems in a more opstimistic way. Excellent BOOK.
