Rating: Summary: Excellent in ALL respects! Review: A riveting book. I couln't put it down until the last page was read!
This book is what Sci-Fi should be.
Rating: Summary: A downright awesome book. Review: This book is one of the greatest I have ever read. I agree
with the other testers that this book is more than action, but I feel that the action is nothing to ignore, and is
excellent along with the plot.
Rating: Summary: THIS IS THE BEST SCIENCE FICTION BOOK EVER WRITTEN. Review: This is the very best book I have ever read. Card is an incredibly gifted author, and I have read many of his works. This is by far the best. You feel as if you are there, with Ender, throughout the entire novel. You remember all the trauma of childhood; and see how pitifully it compares with the travesty of what Ender had to endure. You will never forget Ender
Rating: Summary: The best book I've read in a very long time Review: An extremely intriguing book that combines action, suspense, and an original and interesting writing style. I would recommend this book to anyone who is even remotely interested in sci-fi and even those who aren't.
A great read!!
Rating: Summary: "The sf book for people who don't think they like sf." Review: This book has been called the "Science fiction book for people who don't think they like science fiction." Although cliche aliens are there I understand that was intentional and is all part of the overall story. I didn't read it for the action but it is there (in the form of the Battle Room). It portrays the desperation of a species trying to survive and what it is willing to do to one child (Ender) to accomplish this goal
Rating: Summary: Great book, but it doesn't deserve the Hugo _and_ Nebula. Review: I liked this book quite a bit. But there wasn't enough innovative thought and/or original ideas in it to justify winning the Hugo and Nebula. I guess I'm more critical than most. For a book to win both awards it has to be GOOD. Gateway by F. Pohl won both back in...can't recall. That book was fresh, innovative, and original at the time...and I liked that one more than Ender's Game. Sorry, Ender was good, but not THAT good
Rating: Summary: Ender's Game: The most compelling book ever written Review: Ender's Game, written by Orson Scott Card, is by far the
best book ever written. It having won the HUGO and NEBULA
awards, that says a lot for the book; however, this doesn't
even scratch the surface. The book grips you, pulls you in,
and spits you out at the end. There is no doubt that you
MUST READ THIS BOOK!!
Rating: Summary: A must read for fourth graders through adults. Review: I bought this book for my son and picked it up by chance to read one day. I could not put it down. I was drawn into the story and felt like I was Ender. I fought his battles and thought his thoughts. This book is magnificently well written and is a true spellbinder. It draws the reader into the story and keeps them chasing the dangling carrot right to the very last page. This book is a must read for adults as well as upper elementary students. I believe this book will join the ranks of the worlds great classics
Rating: Summary: A shimmering, lyrical novel that's impossible to put down! Review: Ender's Game is an incredible, unforgettable book that will stay with you. It follows the early years of a "Third" child. A misfit in society. From his home on Earth to a military academy in space, it tells a gripping and unpredictable story that will keep you guessing until the shocking end. This is one of the few books to have made an everlasting emotional impact on me. I give it my highest recommendation
Rating: Summary: One of the best books I've ever read. Review: The whole series (Ender's Game, Speaker for the Dead, Xenocide, and soon Children of the Mind) is just superb, but I'll always remember Ender's Game most fondly as the book that had me up til 4am with eyes bugging (no pun intended!) out of my head and cheering out loud.
The story follows a remarkably intelligent and talented child from leaving his bizarre family for intense military training to the war on the Buggers, an alien race that threatens to claim Earth for itself and remove the human occupants. But please don't get turned off by the theme -- this is NOT another Good Boy/Bad Alien story!
The plot and characters are utterly compelling. Card is a master storyteller, and this is a classic
