Summary: Too intense for me, but I liked val too.
Review: I was sort of going through something when I read this so it was emotionally exhausting for me. It is engaging and valentine (ender's sister) is one of my favorite characters in literature. I am a little unnerved by card's tendency to write about tortured children, but I've only read this and Songmaster so maybe I can't judge.

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: Absolutely the best book!
Review: I'm not a real science fiction fan. My English teacher recommended it to my best friend and she went on and on about how good it was so i decided to read. It is the best book I have ever read! I couldn't put the book down!

Summary: Touching study of relationships
Review: I've lost track of how many times I've bought and given away copies of Ender's Game. It remains my favorite not because of the grand scale of the military sci-fi elements, but because of the grand scale of the emotions of the characters.

Skimming through the reviews, I see that no one else has commented much on the relationship between Ender and his sister Val. Their love and devotion for each other across space and time can bring tears to my eyes, and has instilled in me a longing for such a sister which I have never been able to shake.

This is the power of Card's writing - the ability to describe the experiences and emotions of his characters so clearly and powerfully that we can feel them as our own, and incorporate them as meaningful elements in our own lives.

Summary: What Ender's Game is about and if it is a good book
Review: Best book I have ever read. I have read it 3 times already. This book is about a boy who has to save the world from aliens.

Rating: 4 stars
Summary: An easy-to-read classic
Review: With so many reviews on this fine work, there is little I can add, but I'll give it a shot. Orson Scott Card's 'Ender's Game' is thoroughly enjoyable and an easy read for both adults and young adults. Card doesn't fall into the 'lavish and overwrought description syndrome' as do some authors, thus, the novel is well-paced, easily accessible, highly entertaining, and at times, packs an emotional wallop. It is imaginative, unique, and carries a very satisfying plot twist.

Much has been said about the dialogue of young children...that Card totally missed it and doesn't understand children. While I concur to a certain degree, it did not diminish my enjoyment of the novel. Who am I to say that children in the far future with astronomical IQ's wouldn't act, think, or talk that way? Would it have been a better novel if Card spent a little more time viewing and talking to children whose mind is at the genius level? It may have had more depth if he explored this dichotomy further, but with a Hugo and Nebula award, as well as a fanatical following, I doubt it would have made any significant difference.

Here is a novel that can be read in a day and will be remembered for years. For those who don't read sci-fi, I would highly recommend this book as a great place to start. For those who do read sci-fi, and haven't read 'Ender's Game', I can only wonder and ask; why haven't you read it!? Between 1 and 10, I give 'Ender's Game' an 8 (and a high 8 at that).

Summary: Most enjoyable book I have ever read - and read again
Review: My Dad (an adventure book fan, not a sci-fi reader), brother and I each read the book in less then a day and a half, and each loved it. That was several years ago, and I still think it is the most enjoyable book I have ever read, and one of the most interesting characters I have ever met.

A fabulous book for anyone who enjoys adventures, science fiction, or great characters, or anyone who has ever been a kid with an imagination.

Summary: Incredible!
Review: Ender's Game is the best book I have ever read. I usually don't read science fiction, but my friend read this and said it was great. I took it out from the library, read it, cherished it, then went out and bought it and it's three sequels.

I am a rather gifted child and I think Ender's way of thinking is extremely realistic. I couldn't believe how many times Ender thought the same thing I did, and acted similarly. I recommend this to everyone!

Summary: THE BEST!!!
Review: This book in my short life of 17 years is the best book to me. And any one I have let borrow this book has not had one complaint about Ender's game. I am very hard to please book wise and this was a real page turner.

Summary: Beyond Science Fiction...
Review: Ender's Game has long been the only science fiction novel I always feel comfortable recommending to my friends. Card uses the creative freedom that his futuristic world offers him along with all the satisfying characteristics of a great novel: well-developed characters, a fascinating plot, and ideas that last long after the last page is read. This is a must read for people who love literature as well as science fiction fans.

Rating: 2 stars
Summary: "Unrealistic" and predictable
Review: I won't pretend that I know how a 5-year old genius' mind works, but I'm pretty sure it isn't as depicted in this book. Card prefaces the most recent edition saying that many people are turned off from this story by the way he characterizes the children; well, count me in. I felt more like I was reading about the thoughts and actions of teenagers. Plus, I was able to guess the ending approximately halfway through. No real surprises here. It's a great idea carried out with little creativity, ala Michael Crichton.
