Rating: Summary: Disappointing Review: This book was a big disappointment. Hearing all the hype suggesting this may be one of the best books "ever", I dove right in and devoted some of my limited time to giving it a read. The story seemed dry and predictable. Especially the "revelation" that what had been presented to Ender as training, was not. Ho hum. Who couldn't see that one coming?! I learned nothing about the enemy, therefore, I could not appreciate who it was that I was fighting and precious little of why. Interesting? Yes. Great? I don't think so.
Rating: Summary: A One Day Read! Review: I sat around the house one day bored as heck. Both my parents are librarians so naturally we have the largest darn collection of literature in the entire state of Alabama. For Christmas one year my uncle bought me Ender's Game as a present and for two years hence it just collected dust. I decided to find one of the dustier books and give it a try. This was about midafternoon. One day and a few skipped meals later I laid it back down.
Rating: Summary: I've read it over 3 times and it gets better every reading Review: I was reccomended this book in 5th grade, I'm now in 8th. When I read it then I only skimmed it and loved it, in 6th grade I picked it up again and read it to my favorite CD (311, self titled). Now every time I listen to that CD I remember a part of Enders Game. I can't wait until the movie comes out.
Rating: Summary: Missing the point, perhaps? Review: I believe Card made the book "simple" so his message could reach a larger audience. I think he's saying our beliefs have to be knowledgeable about the world than reflect the best in the world back on itself. However when the job of bringing out the world's best nature is placed on the shoulders of one child, it crushes his spirit. Also I don't personally believe in Mormonism, but if all good/smart people could become Card's for their side there'd be hope. That's not elitist because the average people would still be the doers, because dreamers without doers are impotent. In least that's what I got out of it.
Rating: Summary: One of the best books ever written! Review: I have read Ender's Game around eight times now, I have bought four copies (I give them away), and every time I enjoy it more. To me, this is not science fiction, because it isn't fiction. The situations are unreal, but the emotions, conflicts, and interactions are all real. I have felt everything Ender feels, the fear, hope, desperation. And I have always finished it with a feeling of expectation and faith in the future.
Rating: Summary: A great book for sci-fi and non sci=fi fans alike! Review: I great book about a child's odyssey through military training and war in the future. A book that is fun to read and fun to think about! Great for sci-fi and non sci-fi fans alike!
Rating: Summary: One of the best ever Review: Simply, this is one of the best stories I have ever read. Do not read the reviews posted on this board though, because there are many secrets revealed there. If you like sci-fi, drama, mystery - you'll love this book and it's sequels. Ender's Game is the best of the bunch.
Rating: Summary: It is defiantly a great book, I could not put it down. Review: Intense is the word for Ender's Game. Aliens have attacked Earth twice and almost destroyed the human species. To make sure humans win the next encounter, the world government has taken to breeding military geniuses -- and then training them in the arts of war... The early training, not surprisingly, takes the form of 'games'... Ender Wiggin is a genius among geniuses; he wins all the games... He is smart enough to know that time is running out. But is he smart enough to save the planet?
Rating: Summary: All around the most gripping novel I have ever read. Review: I read this novel three years ago on the recommendation of my father. Since then I have reread it two times, and each time it was like discovering it all over again. Each time a new piece of the story would come together for me, telling me more about the why's behind the actions of the characters. If there is one fiction novel that I would recommend more than any other, it's _Ender's Game_.
Rating: Summary: It is good, meaningfull and easy to read Review: I really liked this book. It has man yvery good qualitities. Unlike a lot of science fiction, I was able to read this book very fast, and it was one of the few sci-fi books I have read recently where most of the "action" takes place in out solar system. It has very good character development, and I really started to be able to relate to Ender, even though our lives would be totally different. I strongly reccomend this book to almost all readers, although it has a complex story line. It is very very intense.
