Rating: Summary: Oh, bugger ... Review: This is the story of Ender Wiggin. Perhaps you've heard of it? It's the one about the child genius that was sent off to Battle School to join those like him and learn the techniques of warfare through the form of games. He is being manipulated throughout the story, you'll find. He is also being molded into someone that he hates being. A killer, do you suppose? Maybe. You see, there was an alien invasion--well, two of them, really--around seventy years ago. These "buggers" have since then retreated, but many suspect that they are simply forming another bigger, better army in retaliation. So, the best strategists are found while they are about six years old, and are trained to deal with the possibility of attack.People have pitied Ender, have understood bits of him, have even been encouraged by him. Honestly, I read about it in the introduction. Some people even hated him and what they felt as the unrealistic portrayel of the smarter child. It seems that everyone has a different reaction to Ender, and I found that I was no exception. Why pity someone whose so strong? How can I understand someone in those circumstances? What would he encourage me about in my everyday life? And why hate someone that already hates himself? See how you react to Ender. Read this book!!!
Rating: Summary: WOW Review: Ender's is the best book I have ever read. Simple as that.
Rating: Summary: Excellent Sci Fi Book -- One of a kind Review: This is my favorite Science Fiction novel!!! Orson Scott Card does a great job keeping the reader interested. Ender Wiggin is chosen by the IF (International Fleet) at the young age of 6 to undergo intense training on a space station. At such a young age Ender's life is full of hardships, and he is constantly being pushed to his limits. Time is of essence because Ender is mankind's last chance to be saved from alien invaders (Buggers). The big question is whether Ender going to succeed in his training where other's have failed? There is a nice twist at the end of the book that took me by surprise. You will enjoy reading this book!!!
Rating: Summary: Ender's Game is a Masterpiece Review: Having been assigned Ender's Game as one of many titles to choose from on a school reading list, I was prepared for a boring, traditional science fiction novel-- similar to the one's that my father always suggested when I was looking for a "good read." However, I was taken aback quickly by the sheer brilliance, intelliect, depth and most importantly originality that Orson Scott Card displayed even early in this novel. I read the book in two sittings; the break was only due to my need to eat food. I was completely absorbed in the world of Andrew 'Ender' Wiggin. The futuristic society described in book was so hauntingly possible in the future; the issues facing the world were creepily accurate to those our world is currently facing. All the aspects of the book were developed to create a completely believable (yet still very science fiction-y) world in which to base the story of a young boy growing up, faced with a burden to save his planet. I refer to this book probably more frequently than any other book that I have read save maybe The Bible. May I also suggest heavily to read Ender's Shadow- a parallel novel to Ender's Game, which instead follows the life of Bean. The crossings between the books are brilliant, and I would suggest that you read E-Game before E-Shadow. Anyway you boil down to it, Ender's Game was a fantastically written book that is sure to interest children and adults alike. Please enjoy...
Rating: Summary: For all those who can't see their inner potential Review: At first I was turned off by the book because it was a Sci-Fi book. When I was finally convinced to read it I found that it was much more than just a Sci-Fi book. The book follows the so-called childhood of an exceptionally intelligent boy by the name of Andrew Wiggen. Andrew, called Ender, is a third child which is a negative thing in a population controlled world. The world is under threat of another alien invasion from the buggers and as a result Ender is taken from his family to attend battle school, in hopes that he may be the one that can lead earth's armies to victory. As Ender deals with the seperation from his beloved sister and the challenges of battle school he finds inner strength he never dreamed he was capable of. As I read the book, my heart went out to this poor boy in all of his trials. It is an exceptional book that helps people understand that being the "best" at something, is not always the best situation to be in. After reading this book, I went on to read Speaker of the Dead, and I am now finishing Xenocide. While neither of them have captured me like Ender's Game, they are still worth reading.
Rating: Summary: Absolutely Stellar Review: Ender's Game is a cut above the rest. Orson Scott Card's writing shines. The entire book is gripping, you feel everything that Ender does. I didn't want it to end, and when it did I was in tears. Ender's Game is a classic.
Rating: Summary: must read at all costs!! Review: This is a very gripping story. You will not want to put down. An amazing plot. Very well built characters. Dark at many times. Full of surprises. If you have been looking for a great sci-fi book look no furter! I do not want to give away the plot but it is about a boy named Andrew (ender) wiggin.
Rating: Summary: Top Ten Review: This is close to if not the BEST book I've ever read. Great writing, great story, hard to put down, sorry it ended...then there were sequels!!
Rating: Summary: One of the best novels of all time Review: Ender's Game is one of the great masterpieces of science fiction....original, exciting, and most of all provocative. All great novels talk about the human condition, in one way or another. The best ones, describe themes that almost all people are unaware of, until someone writes a great work about them....then they explode into the awareness with great emotion and with great force. Ender's Game is one of these. Read it and see.
Rating: Summary: One of the finest SF books ever written. Review: For anyone who has not experienced the saga of Ender Wiggin I cannot recommend this book enough. Following the early life of Andrew (Ender) Wiggin, the book captures the interest right off. It quickly moves to the battle school where children are forged into the military leaders of the future. One cannot help but pity Ender as he is forged into one of the greatest military leaders in human histoy. The story line is well conceived, the plot moves quickly and the characters are interesting. I would easily place this book in my top five SF novels of all time. If you have never read this novel, read it. If you have read it, read it again...it's worth it!
