Rating: Summary: AMAZING Review: THIS IS THE SINGLE BEST BOOK I HAVE EVER READ. Ever. I picked it at the recommendation of a good friend, read it in two hours. Couldn't put it down. It is incredibly intellectually stimulating... I found myself in introspective moods every so often for months. I've read it five times since....and it gets better every time. You feel like you actually ARE Ender....you feel his pain, his regrets. You know what motivates him. You know what he would do in any given situation. Orson Scott Card is a genius, and one of the most gifted writers out there. Go out and buy this book....it'll be the best investment you ever make.
Rating: Summary: UNFORTUNATELY I OVER-RATED THIS BOOK WITH 1 STAR Review: This book was a major disapointment. The 1 star that I rated it is an exageration to itself (its not worthy of even that). I was tricked into reading this book by all the great reviews everyone posted about it- I assumed this wasn't going to be a waste of my time. Unfortunately, as Orson Scott Card did in writing Enders Game- people do make mistakes- and so did I by reading this shallow book. I can't even begin to criticize this book because I don't even know where to start. The plot-line itself was flimsy- one must realize how unrealistic the character portrayal is- a 10 year old saving the world from these "buggers" (was this some sort of a joke- the idea of that is just plain ludicrous). As if that alone wasn't bad enough- the sub-plot is even worse- Ender's brother and sister starting some worldwide controversy through the nets, WHAT? I DONT THINK SO, the concept of this is mind boggling- I have trouble taking into account that the majority is actually liking this. The denouemont was also frivalous. One must realize that a child and his loser little buddies are not going to save the world. This sorry example of work can be summarized in a mere 5 pages. This book isn't the least bit feasible and I find Orson Scott Card to be a piece of science fiction in himself. I can go on and on but to be honest just reviewing Orson's work is bumming me out by itself.
Rating: Summary: Powerful and Compelling, Card Never Ceases to Amaze. Review: Ender's Game was the very first Card novel I read. This one book introduced me to his powerful narrative and compelling storytelling abilities. I have never read science fiction which is more human than Card's. He shows no fear of deep and complex issues as he explores the possibilites and limitations of his characters. Since reading this book I have read as much of his material as I have had time for, and I yearn for more all the time. Card never ceases to amaze.
Rating: Summary: Best sci-fi novel of all time / A must read for sci-fi fans Review: I have read a lot of sci-fi books in my life, most notably the works of Timothy Zahn and Kevin J. Anderson. Out of all the sci-fi books I have ever read, this is the best. Card is an incredible writer. When you read the book, in a way you become Ender, because you can understand his joy and pain. You haven't lived until you read this book. It is definately the best of the series.
Rating: Summary: A human adventure with an emotional punch! Review: In the past whenever I mentioned that I was a fan of SF literature, I would always hear the same question. "Did you read Ender's Game?" I always had to say that I did not read Card's novel. I finally decided to read the book that people keep mentioning to me. I am now very glad I did. This classic novel tells the story of a child struggling to become the savior of humanity. Ender must learn to be the best military commander that ever lived because Earth is preparing to attack a deadly enemy. If they fail, mankind will be destroyed. You will be emotionally drained as you read this book. You feel Ender's pain. You will cheer after his victories! This book is loaded with very human characters. This one is a classic that everyone should read!
Rating: Summary: Well worth the read Review: This is one of the more interesting science fiction books out there -- you can understand whats happening through out without a dictionary near by. : ) I was reading it and loving it, until the chapter called "Ender's Teacher" where I became a little annoyed with the story for some reason. I think it was because of the way that the aliens were depicted. I crossed my fingers after picking it up again and read furthur, and realized that Card manages to pull it all together in a way that is more-or-less appropriate to the rest of the book. Still, Ender is practically -controlled- in the whole story, and there were a few chapters where it was almost OVERWHELMING. I mean, Ender is smart and everything, but everyone around him is one step ahead. A good book, though, and the End of the World/Giant parts were absolutely fascinating. If you liked this novel, try DUNE, which is not as similar and a little better (though of course if I studied it a little more, I would be able to pull it apart by naming all of its flaws!). A major "redeeming" factor here is the use of the ansible. I was laughing and shuffling through my Le Guin books. Way to go, Mr. Card.
Rating: Summary: This book is a fine piece of literature and I recommend it Review: I was in suspense and I was in laughter the entire book, I read the book 79 times in one year and I never was bored.
Rating: Summary: Ender's Game was FABULOUS!!!!!!!!! Review: I really enjoyed Ender's game. It was a great book. Ender Wiggin grew from a boy to a man, and when he realized that he had killed all the buggers, he wanted to restore the hive queen. This definitely portrays a hero. Mr. Card wrote a fabulous book, and I just finished Speaker for the Dead. I was dissappointed, but I don't think anyone could have written a good sequel to Ender's Game.
Rating: Summary: It talks about how Ender Wiggin has relatted to me in my lif Review: Ender wiggin in Ender's Game, makes me feel like someone out in the world knows how it feels to be so isolated that it dosen't matter who you are you know that people are always trying to get you to do something. After I was done with the book, I picked it backup and started to read it again. And I found that I not only felt like he did, but I also thought like he did. I longed for someone to trust and I had to be the best in my class just to be noticed, and it seemed like every time I'd miss up everyone would know about it, and would just brush me off like I was no one. Now since I have read this book I feel that I know that someone knows how it feels to be me, even if it is a fictional character.
Rating: Summary: It is my fav book Review: Ender's Game is one of my favorite books. It has an interesting storyline and very detailed explinations of the battle scenes. The carachters are very realistic. I hope the movie will be every bit as good as the book.
