Rating: Summary: What a pleasant surprise. Review: When I first picked up this book it was for a school assinment. It was an old, battered up, hardback copy. I wasn't at all excited about reading it. I have to admit, although I love fantasy, it takes a really great looking sci-fi to get me interested. I decided to read it one night to put myself to sleep. I opened up to the first page and was hooked. If I learned anything it was to take the saying, "don't judge a book by it's cover" seriously. I deffinatly recomend it. Even if your not a big sci-fi fan.
Rating: Summary: Moving and Rich Review: I discovered this book as an adult, and over the past 15 years have re-read it many times. While I often find science fiction childish and shallow, ENDER is a work of literary merit that simply uses a science fiction environment. This book is a touching story of the maturation of a boy who is both human and a hero. It is a compelling comment on hatred and the power of love to overcome everything. One should not read it without also reading Speaker for the Dead. The remaining Ender books, while interesting, pale in comparison to the first two, and nothing Card has written before or since comes close.....The only other "science fiction" book that compares in depth and quality is The Sparrow by Mary Doria Russell.
Rating: Summary: Non- SciFi Read Loves Ender's Game Review: I was at my aunt's house last year and I picked up Ender's game. When I was about 7 I loved Star Trek but I hadn't enjoyed sci-fi in years. I started to read Ender's game and I finished it in about 3 days. It was one of the best books I have ever read. It delved into physical conflict in the case of the Bugger Wars, emotional conflict with Ender's problems with Peter, and psychological conflict with Ender's video game. The book is well written and leaves you wanting more. The surprising twists and clever plot make this book perfect for the sci-fi lover or someone who finds the future interesting. Anyone can read this book and I suggest that you do.
Rating: Summary: Ender's Game Review: I loved the book Ender's Game. It is very suspensful and interesting. The plot keeps on moving around Ender, Valentine & Peter, continuously while keeping the plot interesting. Orson Scott Card revolves the plot very neatly keeping most of the book to Ender, while devoting a large amount of the book to the other minor characters. Card is a very talented author. I can extrapolate that fact by reading this book. The sheer plot and intensity, the twists and turns, they demonstrate pure genius. In my opinion, I believe this is a 5 star book that everyone should read.
Rating: Summary: Damn good book... Review: This book is one of those ones you can just keep reading... because it always speaks to you. There's always something in the story to stick out to you for you to identify with... whether it be the conflict between Ender and his teachers, Ender and the other children, or the politics of Peter and Valentine as they work to save the world from itself in Peter's quest for power, it always has something for you to notice new, something else to wonder over.
Rating: Summary: Wow. . . . . Review: What can I say? Ender's Game is truly a masterpiece. Card is truly at his best here. It is the best book I have ever read.
Rating: Summary: "Ho, Ender!" Review: I was introduced with this book by my elemtary school (where I work) librarian. She recommended me this book if I was a science fiction reader. In just several pages, I was captured by Ender's story, and was surrounded with the anticipation of the story that was to unfold. I thought that the book was written very recently. The concept and the way the story was going was so briliant and amazing, I was so surprised to find out that it was written in 1970's. Because the story did not fall behind any short from those of Star Treks or other recent science fictions. This book captured me the moment I opened it, and I do not believe there will be any other!
Rating: Summary: Wow Review: I just re-read the book that I loved so much when I read it as a child, and it the pleasure was undiminished. If the greatest failing of Science Fiction is the lack of characterisation, Card is nothing short of magnificent in his depiction of Ender, the reluctant hero. It manages to deliver the epic storyline of the battle to save the human race coupled with the sensitivity of multi-faceted and well crafted characters. This book truly deserves it place amongst those books that surpass their genre.
Rating: Summary: Truly excellent book ! Review: Ender's Game is truly a wonderful read. The detail on the strategy and the squad type warfare is enough to keep anyone with an enjoyment of battle interested from the first page to the last. I've rarely read a book with that kind of detail, and yet action enough for a die-hard Rambo fan. I would recommed it to anyone who enjoys SF, or to anyone who enjoys war stories.
Rating: Summary: Ender's Game: Now a Major Motion Picture Review: Ender's Game was incredible, I can only hope that the upcoming movie captures all of the genius contained in the book. Do not forsake the book for its movie.
