Rating: Summary: At Least We Got the Three Laws Review: The three laws of robotics, which has become a science fiction staple, is the only redeeming aspect of this book. Asimov's characters are squabbling children and the dialogue wouldn't pass muster in a Flash Gordon serial. I'll attribute this to the time in which these stories were written just to be fair. Most writers also try to make their characters appealing and usually base them on aquaintances. Judging by these characters, one wonders what kind of people Asimov must have been friends with.
Rating: Summary: This is my 1st Asimov book and I thoroughly enjoyed it...aym Review: As mentioned this is my 1st Asimov book. I enjoyed it enough to buy another of Asimov's books. This book chronicles the history of the progression the creation of robots and there place in human society. This is as seen through the eyes of a robo-pyscologist. She is being interviewed and tells the story through her perception. She is very old, I love it when at the end of the interview she tells the interviewer that she has seen all the progression that she could in her life span and the next progressions will have to noted by the interviewer and up and coming generations. aym
Rating: Summary: it was an overal good book very imaginative storyline Review: it was an overal good book very imaginative storylin
Rating: Summary: A MEDIOCRE SCIENCE FICTION BOOK Review: This is a book that I felt had too much "anger" in the stories. Lots of yelling and arguments among the characters. Not enough peaceful or thoughful moments. Although the stories are good because the adventures are exciting and interesting.
Rating: Summary: One of the best books I've ever read! Review: This is not merely one story, but a collection of stories taken from eras of time from 1998 to 2059. The book is set with the premise of a reporter interviewing one of the head 'robopsychologists' at US Robots and Mechanical Men, Inc. She tells of many of her and her fellow scientists' encounters with a runaway 'lost' robot, a mind-reading robot, a practical jokester robot, and a robot named Cutie, who refuses to believe that human beings created him and goes on to form a robot 'cult', recruiting other robots who then proceed to bowdown and worship the self-proclaimed 'prophet'. Although written over 50 years ago, Isaac Asimov gives great insight into the future world of science and culture that we can only imagine.
Rating: Summary: THE BEST!!! Review: This book is just great. if you are insecure, listen to me: READ IT!!
Rating: Summary: Unfortunately, a disappointment Review: I've read Asimov's later robot novels, which were quite good, so I expected much more from this book, which is considered a classic. There is no true variety of stories within; each basically deals with an off-kilter robot and humans trying to solve the problem. The humans, however, are the main focus of each story, and Asimov doesn't do a very good job with them. They're always arguing and insulting each other, calling the other "fool", "child", and such. What a bunch of boors. And I'm supposed to be interested in these characters? By the end of the book, I wished that the robots had killed all these annoying humans so I wouldn't have to read their cheesy melodramatic dialogue. But, darnit, that First Law always gets in the way...
Rating: Summary: I, Robot is I, Clvdivs Review: I, Robot is indeed an excellent book modeled after I, Cludius, an "auto-biographical" novel about the Roman Emperor Cludius. Both Cludius and the Robot stand just outside the epicenter of the action in the novel, which makes for a very intimate unfolding of the action.
Rating: Summary: Watch out man, here come the machines Review: The best 'Robot' novel I had read so far. Asimov takes us into earth of the future where Robots are no longer exhibition displays but a very integral part of society. Starting from the time Robots entered a household, how they affected family life Asimov takes us through time till the final chapter when robots control the world for the benefit of mankind. Guided by the three laws of robotics, Robots, as Asimov strives to explain, do not seek to wipe out mankind from the face of the Earth as has been shown in countless movies. They are to make our life easier. A very well written novel, holding your attention throughout. I felt sorry when I finished the final words as indeed this is one of the better books I have read. Well done, Asimov. You have converted me into a Robot aficionado. I am awaiting further orders, Master......!
Rating: Summary: Great For New Readers of Science Fiction Review: This is a great book for someone wanting to get familiar with one of the great writers in SF. A really Fun Read !!!
