Summary: The Goddess Strikes Again!
Review: This is the third P.C. Cast book that I've read (the other two being 'Goddess by Mistake' and 'Goddess of Light') and I am again struck at how great of a series this is. Cast can capture my attention from page one and hold it until the very end, creating a book unable to be put down!

Christine Canady ("call me CC") would give anything for a bit of magic in her life. On the night of her birthday, a very drunk CC performs a sort of ritual to the Earth Goddess, the mother Gaea. She thought nothing of it the next day, but little did she know that her call was heard...and would be answered.

After CC's plane went down in the ocean, she was attempting to swim for the life raft when a piece of wreckage caught her and pulled her down. Rather than drowning, she was instead transported into a world of mermaids and mermen, and she was placed into the body of Undine, daughter of Gaea. But she soon discovers that Undine was not without her own problems. After pleading with Gaea, CC is granted a temporary human body-but she must return to the water to transform every third night. The catch? She must find a man who will love her and accept her mermaid form as well as her human form.

On land, she is plagued with another set of problems: a misogynistic abbot, a persistent and chauvinistic knight, and the evil influence of Undine's brother, Sarpedon. Upon returning to the water to transform, CC befriends the merman Dylan, and soon finds her heart taken with him. But on land, Sarpedon is creating a world of trouble for CC...and for Dylan.

While I had a few bones to pick with the plot, overall, it was a wholly enjoyable read. The characters are fabulous and the dialogue is very natural. It's what I would consider a light read, but definitely one that I can see myself reading again during the wait for the next book in the Goddess series!

Summary: AVERAGE SUMMERTIME FLUFF
Review: Those of you who are fans of GODDESS BY MISTAKE may find GODDESS OF THE SEA to be somewhat of a letdown. In many ways it is a lesser creation. It certainly isn't as funny as MISTAKE, the heroine just doesn't have that middle-aged, hard-bitten, man-eater feel. Nor does she have the same hilarious insights or snide asides. The plot is reasonably interesting although fairly obvious, can't say I was surprised by any part of the story, even the end. The female character is different enough from her first to be interesting but to be honest her main love interest is just another big mythical creature. Same ol', same ol'.

So a total washout as a book? Not even close. It was still a fun read, quick and light with plenty of romance and magic. This would be a great book for the poolside this summer.

While it's not quite up to the level of her first book I would still RECOMMEND it, just don't expect a repeat of MISTAKE.
