Summary: disappointing
Review: After I fell in love with her first book, "Goddess By Mistake" the waiting for her next book was difficult to say the least. "Goddess Of The Sea" is a big disappointment. The writing is different and the characters are boring. The humour is gone and the story is hard to swallow without it. Wherever you're hiding Ms. Cast please come back and write your own books!

Summary: I loved it!
Review: CC (Christine) Canaday's 25th birthday is not going well. Everyone seems to have forgotten her, parents included despite their claim not to have, and it's a lonely night with no TV and a bucket of KFC to celebrate. The next day, she will be on an airplane (which she is terrified of) on her way to a tour of duty in the Air Force.

Her fears seem justified when the plane goes down, killing the first man she has been attracted to and dumping her in the sea. All is not lost, a mermaid rescues her, and exchanges lives with her. Christine can not enjoy her new beauty and power for long; an evil merman appears, intent on incestously raping her. She is saved by friendly dolphins and her mother, Gaea. To keep her safe, she is placed in a land form and sent to a medeval monastery. The catch is she will have to return to the sea every three days, lest she die. In the monk's world, she pretends to be an amnesiac princess. The dangers are not past, though. Life there is unfriendly and a young knight serves as the tool of her enemy. Somehow, she manages to find allies and even love.

**** This sweet and funny romance will satisfy all of us who cried at the end of the original Little Mermaid. CC is a smart and funny heroine forced into choices and changes that are painful and difficult, but making the best of things still. ****

Summary: Didn't like it....
Review: CC is a little depressed because everyone forgets her birthday. She drinks some champeign, gets a little drunk, performs an amatuer goddess ritual, and feels better. She then gets on a plane, meets a gorgeous man, the plane crashes, and instead of drowning, Undine, a mermaid, asks if she wants to switch places. Of course she does! Within minutes, she finds out the bad part of the deal she's made and the goddess (re: ritual mentioned above), Undine's mother, offers her the chance to become human again-- in mideivel Wales! Of course, she meets a merman-- whom she's attracted to-- and a knight-- who's a chauvanist-- and trite trials ensue.

Come on! I've read hundres and thousands of romances over the years, but this is absurd! I can only suspend my disbelief so far. If there'd been any emotional depth to this book, I could have accepted it, but there wasn't anything to make me want to keep on reading. I skipped to the end, saw that I'd guessed right on how things were going to turn out, and never wanted to find out what I'd missed.

Summary: Enjoyable
Review: Christine Canady "CC" was an Air Force Sergeant. Forgotten on her twenty-fifth birthday, even by her parents, she wished for a little magic in her life. Shortly afterward, her military plane crashed into the ocean. Near death, CC thought she was hallucinating when a beautiful mermaid appeared and offered to swap bodies with her.

CC awakened to find herself in the time of Ancient Wales, where magic could still be found, and CC quickly learned that she had a royal merman, Sarpedon, determined to wed her against her will. Gaea, Goddess of Earth (and Undine's mother), granted CC legs to go ashore, but she must return to the sea every third night or die.

With one crazy merman in the sea, another handsome merman in the sea, a Knight courting her on land, and a shady abbot who was always nearby, CC/Undine had troubles galore!

**** If you do not believe in magic, stay away from this novel. But for those of us who do believe, or want to be convinced that magic does exist, here is the novel for you! Written like a fairy tale for adults, this book is perfect to cuddle up with on long chilly nights or days you may be snowed in. It will whisk you away to a warm tropical island. Wonderful light reading.

Summary: Wonderfully Magical Tale!!
Review: Christine Canady "CC" is an Air Force Sergeant, who is about to be sent on a 6-month tour of duty to the Middle East. It is the eve of her twenty-fifth birthday and even her only living relatives, mom and dad, have forgotten the day. So feeling a bit sorry for herself she celebrates alone consuming a couple bottles of champagne which culminated in a bit of a silly, or so she thought, dance on her balcony to the earth goddess and wishing for a bit of 'magic' in her life!

Soon, she found herself on a C-130 trying to forget how much she hated flying, especially over water...when naturally, the military plane goes down. Harrowing as the crash is, it is even worse as she feels herself being dragged down and knowing she is about to die. But opening her eyes, she discovers herself looking into the face of a most beautiful mermaid and finds she is not only still alive but breathing under water as well. After a brief explanation and agreeing to the mermaid's wishes to become human, she finds her soul switched over into the voluptuous mermaid Undine and discovering that the year and location is 1014 in the waters surrounding ancient Wales. Furthermore, all is not magical, when she finds herself being pursued and almost raped by the royal merman, Sarpedon.

Gaea, Goddess of the Earth, (Undine's birth mother) who was instrumental in granting CC this 'magic' in her life, comes to her aid, and grants CC legs to return to land with the stipulation that she must return every third night to the sea, else she'd die - UNLESS - she could find a man to truly love her for herself. Whipping up a storm and a story to explain her presence on land, CC is rescued in the water (she's not a good swimmer as a human) by, Dylan, another handsome merman, and brought close to shore. Soon a handsome Knight in shining honor (no kidding) rides up and drags her the rest of the way to land. Before too long, CC is embroiled in medieval politics and danger as the evil Sarpedon begins to use his power to create havoc for CC on land, and she pines for the sensitive merman Dylan who would love her for 'eternity'.

Every so often I like to try out new authors and switch over to different genres to refresh myself. Reading the summary of this book I expected an amusing funny tale. I was wrong. What I discovered was a really a sensitive and magically entertaining love story. I truly enjoyed this book and perhaps it is because - maybe, deep down, I do believe in magic that I will recommend this to all of you who want to capture the magic of a truly magical love story. This was a wonderfully entertaining and pleasant read. ---- Marilyn, Official Reviewer for www.historicromancewriters.com

Summary: A beautiful watery tale
Review: Christine Canady (CC) is a sergeant in the US Airforce based in Oklahoma. She lives a humdrum life and wishes for a bit of magic in her life. One moonlit evening she conjures up a spell invoking the magic of the Earth Goddess Gaea.

The next day she flies off to Saudi Arabia for a mission. In mid ocean, her plane crashes. CC finds herself drowning but all of a sudden she has a vision of a beautiful mermaid, Undine, who asks her if she wants to live. Undine trades body with CC and CC is now a beautiful blond mermaid with splendid tail. Not long after she is confronted by Sarpedon, an evil merman who is also her half brother who wants to take her as his mate. CC calls Undine's mother who also happens to be Gaea, the Earth goddess. To avoid being caught by Sarpedon, Gaea offers CC the choice to have legs and to return to land with the catch that every 3 days she must return to the sea or die. If she manages to find love with a man she may stay forever on land.

CC then finds her self struggling to survive as a human again and is rescued by the handsome merman, Dylan. Dylan takes her a shore where she is met by a handsome knight called Andras. CC finds herself transported to the Middle Ages in Wales. Andras takes her to a monastery for her to recover. Andras finds himself attracted to the mysterious princess washed up a shore. However, CC cannot forget the handsome merman, Dylan who saved her.

Every third night, CC wanders off to the ocean and meets Dylan and finds herself falling for the kind merman. On land and in the ocean she does her best to fight her evil half brother Sarpedon but will her love for Dylan be strong enough to keep him with her forever.

This was a magical fairytale with lots of twists and turns. The growing love between CC and Dylan was a joy to read. However, I must say the love scenes between Dylan and CC made me giggle. Can you imagine mer-people making love? I didn't even know they had the spare parts to do this! All in all a good read if you like your romances with a sprinkle of faery dust.

Summary: Mermaids, ahhhh need I say more :)
Review: For anyone who has ever dreamed that mermaids existed and watched the little mermaid only a million times when they were younger (come on admitt it...lol) This book is tops. You would think a romance with a half man, half fish creature would be awkward. But she handles their love so expertly I was tempted to go find this delicious man thing myself....let us just say yummy...hahaha. There's a twist at the end that kept me wondering will they won't they. Very well written book and I plan to be an avid collector of her works. Brilliant.

Summary: Engaging Read
Review: Goddess of the Sea is a delightful read whether you're a fantasy fan or not. P.C. has a unique sense of humor that distinguishes her writing and makes her characters human--well, considering the Mermaid subplot, maybe I should saw partly human, sometimes better, and always engaging. And I might add that even though this is a very entertaining book, it's deceptively easy reading and I've found myself thinking back into P.C.'s and C.C.'s insights on life ever since.

Summary: A Fabulous Fantasy!
Review: I am a big fan of Ms. Cast's first novel, Goddess by Mistake, and I was really looking forward to this one. Thank God(dess) I wasn't disappointed! Yes, it's a different world with different characters (I'm still waiting for the next Partholon novel, please, oh, please) and Cast shows her talent and diversity in creating something differet yet equally as wonderful.

It's a loose retelling of a couple of well known mermaid myths, this time from a woman's point of view - finally! I loved the underwater scenes, very sensual and unusual. The hero was wonderful. He made me want to grow a tail. The ending was a great twist, totally unpredicatble. Ms. Cast made me laugh and cry. I can't wait till her next novel. Please write faster!
