Rating: Summary: WOW! couldn't put it down Review: I love romances....I thought this book was better then Kiss of the Highlander. This was so much more intense. I sat and read this book from cover to cover without stopping.
Rating: Summary: Moning's best book yet Review: I have read all of Karen Marie Moning's books and loved them all. The Dark Highlander was even better than her previous books, something I never thought was possible. It is a great story that you can't put down. P.S. Make sure you read it in front of a fan or air conditioner.
Rating: Summary: Held so much potential Review: Dageus and Chloe's story had the potential to be a truly amazing story, but ended up for me, as only average (if even a little below average - 2 ½ stars). To begin, let me say, that I found Ms. Moning to have an incredible imagination. The idea for the story is great, it is the execution that I had trouble with. First, Dageus has these 13 miserable, evil, desperate, lonely, frustrated, grasping souls trapped in his body. What great possibilities this could have opened up. Instead it is pushed into the background as just something that Dageus has to fight in order to keep himself "good" and not dark. These entities did not impress me as being so strong and all powerful (which they were supposed to be) if Dageus could keep them under control for so long. (I mean really, how long can one Druid hold out against 13 of equal power?) They really did not DO anything, they were just there, a temptation of sorts (for Dageus to use magic - which I didn't understand either, since his brother in the previous book could use magic with no ill effects, why should using magic for Dageus push him farther to the dark side?)The story itself seemed a bit short to me. I would have liked to have seen a longer and better thought out climax/end scene and thought that as the reader, we would have been better met with about another 100 pages of story. Everything got very choppy with short groupings in the end few chapters, jumping between the different parties of the story. Chloe was an interesting character, but seemed very similar to Gwen in the previous book (small, "not perfect", gutsy, smart, etc). Although very convenient, I could appreciate that Chloe was a historian with a Celic background, but it did almost seem too "pat". The romance between Dageus and Chloe was decent. Seeing their attraction grow and Dageus's "nobility" in staying away from her sexually - even though that sexual release would have helped him was touching. Their first love scene was, uhm, a bit much, especially since Chloe was a virgin, but hey, I'll suspend my beliefs on that one. On a side note, I found the imagery with Dageus's eyes quite interesting. Overall, this was an OK, book, though I suspect you will appreciate it more if you have read Kiss of the Highlander and were waiting for Drustan's brother's story.
Rating: Summary: Dark, Sexy and Intriguing Review: The book and the main character! I loved it! Beyond being a good read, it was enthralling! I couldn't put this one down. I very strongly recommend this book for any type of romance reader.
Rating: Summary: Oh My Goodness............WOW...........FANTASTIC ! ! ! ! ! Review: This book was wonderfull! ! ! One of the best I have read yet. It is sexy, HOT, funny, a page turner and don't-put'er-downer ! ! One of the few books I have reread right after I read it ! ! Also, one of the few I have moaned, laughed AND cried with. I did not want to see the ending coming with this one ! ! This is right up there with Dara Joy's time travels and "High"'s that you'd think they were sisters! ! Karen Marie Moning is one of the few writers that I will preorder or buy a new one without knowing the contents because I KNOW it will be GREAT! !
Rating: Summary: Love this book. Review: I am not a reader of romance novels. I had always viewed them as nothing but sexual fluff with no thought in the world with dim witted unbelievable characters. To put it bluntly if you're not a very good writer, you could easily do romance novels. But...the first thing to catch my eye when I see this novel is this warrior surrounded in darkness. Darkness, hmm...this is a romance novel? Then when I skip pages and read little bits, I discover this writer has many interesting themes ranging from druidism, time-travel, guys with long black hair and settings from a luxury penthouse to the highlands of Scotland. I thought this book was absolutely well written with fascinating characters and subjects. I liked it so much, I hurried up and bought Kiss of the Highlander--Gwenn and Drustan's story. I would definitely highly recommend both books. It's an exciting escape!!!!
Rating: Summary: One you just say "Yeh, baby!" Review: Being an avid reader of just about anything. This book stands out as one of the best romantic book to date. Loved the character and that Scot-sexy flair. Had to go back and read the rest of the series. Great read!
Rating: Summary: Best of the Highlander novels so far Review: This is definitely one of the better ones. The sex is hot, (hotter even than the previous books), characterization is excellent, hero is well-drawn, sexy, unique, and, well, dark. He's dominant, overly masculine, and a little bit bad, which makes him all the more appealing. Lots of tension all around, and excellent pacing in terms of plot. Readers of Moning's previous works will recognize the heroine - short, blond and sassy - as typical Moning fare, but still interesting, humorous, and generally colorful. If you like historical romance (and don't mind time travel), it would be hard to find fault with this book.
Rating: Summary: Speachless Review: I am just about at a loss as to how best describe the feeling this book gives. have you ever been reading a book so intently, the story be so riviting, your heart pounds, your body tences, and your hands clench so hard around the pages you just know your going to rip one of the pages? well this is the feeling you recieve reading this book. this has to be the most powerfully written book i have had the pleasure of reading in quite some time, the raw animalistic power and strength of the hero exudes from each page. and his hidden torment is enough to make your heart ache...
Rating: Summary: Hoping for more of the series Review: I have to say i have read the rest of the series of this book as well. But this one is the best so far. This book has something for everyone. I read this book in one night and if that does not say something for this book than nothing will. I am anxious awaiting a next in the series. I would recommed this book.
