Rating: Summary: An enjoyable read Review: Dark Highlander is the first book I have read by Karen Marie Moning. I enjoyed it thoroughly. It was filled with adventure and romance. Add in the historic Scotland and what could be better?I am off to read the other books in the series... d.
Rating: Summary: Not enough stars to rate this book Review: Read the Kiss of the Highlander and then read this. Both books are extremely well written and very detailed. Highly recommend it to those of you who love a good Higlander love story with alot of tear jerking.
Rating: Summary: Get me a dark highlander! Review: Moning does an excellent job of mixing mystery, romance, and eroticism. It doesn't hurt that this highlander is the epitome of physical perfection. Moning's writing style in both this book and in Kiss of the Highlander is very refreshing. While there's plenty of the typical romance material, I find these two books to be better than the average romance. She definitely has true skill in writing love scenes.
Rating: Summary: HOT! HOT! HOT! Review: Excellent read for anyone who loves the fantasy of time travel. Sexy Scot and wacky female, nice peek into the Fae and another peek at Adam Black! Great follow up to the twin book Kiss Of The Highlander. Fast read, you really can't put it down! Hope to see more from this author!
Rating: Summary: The Cover of the Book Was Better than the story Review: Dagus, Mckelter, was a fine man, but the woman he fell in love with, NOT!!!! she was nothing like Drustan''s woman. Okay different women but did she have to be such an airhead. I really liked Adam and I liked his whole story. He was fun. I like the story just not the woman.
Rating: Summary: possibly the best romance I've ever read. Review: The Dark Highlander is an incredible book. I have read all Karen Marie Moning's books and I believe that this is by far her best work. This book details the story of Chloe- a museum conservator, and Dageus Mackelter- a man tormented by 13 demons who entered his body after he used magical powers to save the life of his brother. Chloe and Daegus travel through time to try to find a way to rid him of the demons that threaten to take control of him. The story is unique and the characters are wonderful!!
Rating: Summary: A Great Read Review: This is one of Karen M. Monings' best yet. It's rich in detail and all the senses get a treat. It is extremely impossible to stop reading. This is a great one for people who haven't read Karen Moning before.
Rating: Summary: Loved it! Review: Let me start with, I don't like romance novels. In fact, I bought this book by mistake. I am SOOOO glad I did! It was great! KMM is a great author! All the charcters are so vivid, I feel like i know them. I especially like that we hear from the male lead (Daegus). I'm usually annoyed by the "mysterious" male character, cause you never know his real motiviations (too much like in real life!). But here, you get to hear from Daegus' point of view on most situations, making the story all the more engrosing. I literally read the book in 2 days, and it only took me that long cause I was on vacation and had to do other things too. I loved it so much, I bought Kiss of the Higlander as soon as I got back. Even though I read them in reverse order, I was not confused, though I would recommend reading Kiss of the Highlander first, to truly appreciate how "dark" Daegus becomes. I highly recommend both!
Rating: Summary: hero to die for Review: Dageus MacKeltar is a 16th century highlander now living in New York and haunted by the souls of thirteen evil druids. When Dageus violated the compact between Keltar and the Tuatha De (god/fairy creatures from Celtic legend), the druids vanished thousands of years ago gained partial freedom--in Dageus's mind. Each time he works his magic, they grow stronger. Soon, they will take over his body and plunge the world into chaos. Dageus has vowed to hold them off and continually researches ancient Celtic knowledge for a hint of the means by which he can regain his freedom. Chloe Zanders is a museum curator with one of the documents Dageus wants. When she enters his penthouse, she is attracted to the perfectly preserved ancient artifacts that litter it. The two are instantly attracted by Chloe is a virgin and promises herself that she won't be just another notch on Dageus's bedpost. Author Karen Marie Moning writes convincingly of Dageus's rapid descent into darkness--a descent that can be slowed but not stopped by the frequent sex that Chloe is denying him. A time travel segment puts the two characters back into medieval Scotland, letting the reader enjoy a reunion between Dageus and his father. Moning's action sequences are exciting and convincing. Dageus is a powerful character who, in this reviewer's opinion, deserves more than Chloe whose major claim to fame seems to be her application of the 'rules' in denying sex until she gets a commitment. Other than the obvious physical chemistry, it's hard to see why Dageus choses her as his unique woman. Admittedly the story is about magic, but the heroine should contribute more to the story than Chloe does. I'd be interested in other writer's opinions, but I also thought that the solution to Dageus's dilemna was a bit deus ex machina (literally). Flaws aside, Karen Marie Moning delivers hot sex, exciting action, and a hero to die for. A pretty strong combination.
Rating: Summary: Really Good Review: This was a good book. It is even better if you read Kiss of the Highlander first. Has a good twist at the end, when you start to think that all hope is lost. Very excellent book in my opinion.
