Rating: Summary: What a Disappointment!! Review: Could Ms. Moning have run out of fanciful ideas, lost her touch with hot scenes of passion, and created the most dithering and boring female character yet? Och, aye! This book could have been about 100 pages in length, since it basically starts 70 pages from the end. Too little magic and too much circling-and-sniffing. In a nutshell, the lead character, Dageus McKeltar, needed animal-level sex to keep his internal evil at bay. There's a concept! Remember Adam Black? He's not even part of the major story line...did I say story line. Yea, right. I have found Ms. Moning's other books at least entertaining, and some rather stimulating. One of her characters even made my Listmania List, Historical Hunks and Heroes. I am facinated with the concept of time-travel. Oh well, I guess this was just a filler to sell a few thousand more books, riding on the coattails of her past stories. I suppose I'll try her next one on for size, if only to hope she gets back on track.
Rating: Summary: Didnt live up to its potential..... Review: After reading the letter to Drustan and Gwen at the end of "Kiss of the Highlander", I absolutely could not wait to read "The Dark Highlander"....Dageus and Chloe were lukewarm at best together...not that I didnt like them..I did..I just didnt think that their relationship was well developed enough..I struggled to finish this book...too much weird stuff happening and not enough romance...not a bad book, but not for me.
Rating: Summary: Exceptional Book Review: In her spectacular follow-up to Kiss of the Highlander, Karen Marie Moning delivers another enchanting romance. Breaking an ancient law to save his brother's life, Dageus MacKeltar is cursed by the possession of thirteen very evil and very powerful Druids. Desperate to end the curse before the thirteen take over his soul, Dageus will do anything to stop them. Cloe Zanders, antiquities addict and misplaced country girl, never expected to fall for a sexy, incredibly alluring, time-travelling, and unfortunately, possessed Druid. But she does. Together, the unlikely pair races to save not only Dageus, but also the rest of humankind from the wrath of the thirteen. Brilliantly witty, irresistibly sexy, and at times painfully tender, Karen Marie Moning delivers her strongest performance yet.
Rating: Summary: Temptation Review: My sister has a nasty habit. When contemplating buying a book she reads a few of the first couple of pages, turns to the middle and then goes to the end. I stare dumstruck at her half the time wondering, do you go to a movie only to see the first few scenes, go out for a drink and popcorn, come back, go out again and then the end. Whats the fun? After completing Kiss of the Highlander, I read the letter striking and it struck very deep cord of emotion. Perhaps it is the fact that we are all haunted by demons. When the book arrived this morning, I dived right in and soon finished it. Throughout the adventure I had to force myself not to turn to the last page. Whatever you do savor every page, do not be tempted to turn to the end. I live in Scotland now and Ms. Moning captures the emotions of her characters perfectly, gritty and sizzling. One thing though she is perhaps the closest to come to describing the scenery but you have to be here to really understand. One suggestion cozy up to a warm fire, within reach of a good 25 year old single malt that has a touch of peat, citrus and spice. Add a pinch of soft highland or Irish pipe music and you have the perfect setting in which to devour this tale.
Rating: Summary: Where's MY Highlander! Review: When I read Drustan and Gwen's story in "Kiss of the Highlander" I never really thought about Daegus. I mean really, who could even think beyond all that sexy, huge, magical Highlander? Well, Daegus' story made my heart beat really fast and wonder just where my Highlander was. "The Dark Highlander" is really, really good. Plain and simple. Daegus and Chloe are so perfect for each other, just as Drustan and Gwen were. The chemistry is electrifying, and Ms. Moning makes you believe traveling through time is real, and that love is forever.
Rating: Summary: Words cannot describe... Review: how much I love this book. The Dark highlander has everything I look for in a romance. A hero to die for. Daegus is a tortured man but he is also honorable and funny and sexy and a highlander! Chloe is a heroine you love. She is smart, feisty, strong. A perfect compliment to Daegus. One of my favorite things about KMM books is that I love her heroines as much as I love her heroes. In the TDH we get to meet up with characters we loved in Kiss of the Higlander but this is definitely Daegus' and Chloe's book. This book had me laughing, crying, sweating (hot, hot, hot) and everything in between. This is a journey that you don't want to miss. Karen Marie Moning has written a book that has exceeded my very high expectations. Make sure you clear your schedule, you won't want to put it down.
Rating: Summary: EXTRAVAGANT...I WANT ONE LIKE HIM Review: I've had a love for reading for over 17yrs and have read many a books but this book qualifies as an ooooh my goodness kind of book. If you are a person that only want to read for a certain amount of time and come back to the book later, I would suggest that you not pick this book up. It was great!!!
Rating: Summary: Not as good as "Kiss of the Highlander" Review: The heroine was weaker I felt in this book. I found myself frustrated with her whereas I had more respect for Gwen in the Kiss of the Highlander. It was terrible that Silvan tells Daegus that he's the favorite over Drustan, no father would say that to one of twin sons. And the whole story about a tortured hero who can be saved only by the one mate, and uttering a binding spell was shamelessly unoriginal and imitative of Christine Feehan's "Dark" series... Otherwise he will become "a dark one" and lose his soul, again just like Feehan's series. Easy ending, too easy. No good twists like Kiss of the Highlander. I don't know if I'll bother with the next one, Highlander's Touch.
Rating: Summary: a must have Review: This book was gripping from the beginning.A great read, very exciting, intriguing and seductive.Since this was the very first book I'd gotten from this author i went out and bought all her others.Karen Moning knows what she's doing to keep you involved and wanting more.Great book couldn't possibly get a higher review from me .I have re-read all her books several times .......love this author.
Rating: Summary: Hot-Herart Throb! Review: This book was HOT & SEXY! A little on the graphic side however still hot! I couldn't put it down. I read this first not realizing that it was the last in the series. I've been looking for the rest since! Definately a book for the more mature audiences. After reading this book I've been reading all of the Scottish romance books I could find!
