Summary: Julian of Macedon, Julian of Macedon, Julian of Macedon!!!
Review: I absolutely LOVED this book!!! It was referred to me by a friend and I ordered both it and the sequel, Night Pleasures. Julian was an endearing character, and I enjoyed the fact that he fell so hard for Grace, who isn't what people would consider sexy. After reading some of the reviews, I don't understand how anyone could give this any less than five stars!!!??? I've heard references to this being "soft porn". Well, I have to say that it IS romance, so most likely there will be sex involved. Also, the story has a sexual theme - he is a sex slave, they're attracted to each other and have to supress it, and the actual act is the only thing that can both save and damn him. The fact that he was constantly trying to be with her had a lot to do with the fact that he had an impulse to satisfy her, which Sherrilyn described during Cupid and Julian's talk. So that answers the questions about why they were always in the shower and such.

This book was a wonderful opener to the Dark Hunter's series and I expect great things from Ms. Kenyon!

Summary: Predictable yet Entertaining
Review: FANTASY LOVER is properly called a romantic fantasy, that is it is a pure romance with touches of fantasy. Not generally my normal genre so I can't really compare it to other romances but as a fantasy it's not too bad. Other than being called a pansy by my wife for reading it, I should have torn off the cover that just screams 'Romance Novel!' I have to admit it was a fun little jaunt for the couple of hours it took to read. A great pool side book it was quick, fun and yes, romantic without too much of the bodice ripping crap that usually pervades this genre. Yes it's predictable, yes it gushes a little a times but all in all a pleasant escape for a few hours.

I If you're a hard core fantasy reader then this is not for you. But if you want a little light romance with a bit of fantasy thrown in then I RECOMMEND it.

Summary: Decidedly different
Review: After reading romances for so long, I've gotten to where I seldom keep any anymore. Not true with this one. This is one of those rare books that I read over and over again. Julian is fabulous. Grace is believable and fun. Best of all, it's not the usual fare, but is very different from any other romance novel out there. I am crazy for Kenyon.

Summary: kenyon knows her stuff
Review: Interesting, funny, even informative and it's great how she brings the ancient gods/goddesses to the present time. Kept me up all night and I read over 150 pages in about 5 hours. Loved Julian's and Grace's steamy but touching story YAY!
Can't wait to get my hands and eyes on more of her books...

Summary: Actually 10 no 15 stars!! And that is just for the drawing.
Review: I LOVED this book!!! Sherrilyn can writes some hot and I do mean hot lovescenes.. Wow still fanning my face!!! Julian and Grace are wonderfully drawn characters. Ms. Kenyon also knows the value of anticipation in a book. I loved the 2nd in the series Night Pleasures and will be buying Night Embrace as soon as it is released. I recommend this book to anyone who likes a good hot romantic fantasy. That said there were some explicit scenes in this book so just a little warning.

Summary: Cliches and soft porn
Review: I stuck with this book because the characters were okay and the plot kept on moving, but readers should be warned that there's a bit of soft porn -- explicit sexual activity -- in several places in this novel, and some of the cliches get worn out with overuse -- and other cliches get abused. For example, if you can read, on p. 251 of the paperback, "She didn't know what it was about his smell that literally turned her inside out..." without picturing what effect that would have on the heroine, you might enjoy this novel.

Summary: A sensitive romance with some fun bits
Review: I really enjoyed this book because the character Julian was given such depth. There were a few loose ends to be tied up at the end which the author lost sight of, like thinking he saw his friend and the rather lame ending with Priapus, but on the whole it was a gripping read. The quirky elements did not get to silly (Selena the tarot card reader, for example) and the essence of New Orleans was captured very well. The main unbelievable point was how they could resist each other for a whole month spent in bed reading Peter Pan and the Iliad! Not possible with a man that hunky. The sensuality level was ok, but the only love scene a bit of a let down since we already knew what was going to happen because of Cupid's prophecy. Also, the whole stalker thing was resolved a bit too readily to my mind, and no one seems to be too upset by it in the end-not exactly true to life. So on the whole, a fun read, and lot better than her other books.

Summary: Stayed Up All Night Reading This
Review: What a wonderful, steamy, fun and different spin on the romance novel. It's got wonderful aspects of a historical romance, time travel romance, and a magical romance so it should appeal to many. I couldn't put the book down. I just kept telling myself only one more chapter. I loved the use of the ancient Greek gods in the modern day and the way they were depicted as cruel and loving even to their own kind. You really felt for the characters and got a history lesson to boot. This is a fun read and would be a great summer beach novel. I hope the author keeps them coming - she's just earned herself a new fan in me.

Summary: Fun
Review: A great series. I docked it one star because the male leads are portrayed as so gorgeous no woman can resist them, which I find irritating, because there should be more than just one woman in the universe who can see past a gorgeous face. Other than that I find the book a wonderful romp with a great plot line. The depiction of various gods is wonderful. It's got a lot of bite, and the various mythological personas are shown as dangerous and powerful, and passionate in both their cruelty and their love.

Before anyone get's the wrong idea, this is a "present day" novel series. But our female lead is a sensible practical female who through the meddling of outside forces (in this case Selena, a best friend who works magic) is pulled into a fantastic situation. For her birthday Grace is given a book that contains a "love slave" who if summoned will be at her service for the length of a lunar month. Thinking it's a joke, Grace plays along with her friend's urging to try the spell. When Julian of Macedon appears, she finds out it's no joke.

I highly recommend the series for fans of the Xena and Buffy type universes. This book sets up the universe that is full of magical entities that exist in a "regular" world. A great mix of outrageous and over the top beefcake romance, and more gritty fantasy action adventure. Very enjoyable.

Summary: Inventive and STEAMY!
Review: I enjoyed this read from the first page to the last. Sherrilyn Kenyon has a definite flair for the creative--this story is unique, AND it sizzles. I read it once, then turned right around and read it again--I couldn't get enough! I purchased this book based on its reviews and I'm glad I did. This one's a keeper!
