Review: Ishmael presents wonderful ideas that everyone should hear. After reading it, however, my life was not changed. It was only after reading other Daniel Quinn books that I realized Ishmael is the introduction to a treasure of information. The ideas may challenge alot of people, but can only be dismissed by those fully under the spell of "Mother Culture".

Review: My aunt suggested this book to me, and so I read it. What an amazing book! I couldn't stop reading it for as long as it took to finish, and now I'm reading it again, just to see what I missed. This book changed my life -- I'm sure it can change anyone else's as well.

Review: Now i'm now English lecturer, so here goes.Forget characters, dialogue etc! What's important here?? The central idea, the books theme. I don't think Daniel's ideas are that shattering. I'm sure most people have thought something isn't quite right, not quite going to plan in todays world. Wouldn't it be interesting to hear current leaders (religious and political) thoughts of this book. Daniel's ideas need discussion. It is only through this discussion that these ideas can be idealistically enacted upon within the community. I think ISHMAEL is a must read for anybody & everybody!!!!!!!

Review: This is an amazing book that looks deep within our civilized culture to find answers that explain what we are doing wrong. If the reader is willing, this book can inspire individual change that can affect the world in a positive light. Everyone needs to listen to Pearl Jam's "Yield" album after reading this book. I have passed this book on to everyone I know. Do you have a desire to save the world? Read this book and live easy.

Review: That is the question this book raised from me. It is a message that most people would avoid listening to for the same reason a millionaire would not want to befriend the homeless. We do not want to see what we have done, what we can reverse and the sacrifices it would take.

Summary: Read this review!!!!!
Review: First of all I should probably state that my review of the book is actually a 5, not a 1. The reason I put 1 is I have a major problem with the REVIEWS. Any review that that starts, "From a reader in blah blah blah", shows the reviewer's lack of confidence in what he/she wrote. The second major problem I have is when someone writes "this book had many false assumptions" or "this book didn't back ideas up with solid facts", god forbid someone gives an example to go along with those genius deductions.(trust me you wouldn't be giving away the whole "story" if you cited some specific examples) I read the book based on the reviews that either the book "changed my life" or "was a complete waste of time". I wanted to see for myself if it should be hated or loved. I thought the story was weak but the ideas were truly interesting (whether you believe them or not). If you're interested in a book that stimulates some thought about the world and it's current condition--read it. If you're merely after a book that's entertainment and takes about as much concentration as watching a 'Full house' re-run, read some Ann Rice or go watch a movie.
