Summary: Non stop action.....
Review: This book provides all the action and suspense a reader could want. I've had the opportunity to read Cain and was thrilled with it, now with Hunter I am not disappointed. I couldn't put this book down. A definite page turner...anyone who could rate this book less than 3 stars has no concept of good literature. I can't wait for his next book.

Summary: a waste of paper.
Review: bad writing, ludicrous and pretentious plot, suspect ideology... This book has it all. I wish I could give it negative stars.

Summary: Very exciting book
Review: Me and my husband enjoy his books and this one was no different. I like how he writes get to the point no long drag out story were you about ready to fall sleep on. I can't wait for his next book. I especielly like "Leviathan" they should make that a movie and "Cain" was good to but I haven't read a bad book of his yet.

Summary: Reads like the bad screenplay it will become
Review: This is a BAD film treatment and it reads like one.

I hesitate to even call the characters TWO-DIMENSIONAL in this 565 drag of a read. Let's see, we have our secretly wealthy hero who opts for a simple life in a cabin along with the wolf he rescued as a cub. (Now, that's original!) We have the grizzled Army Colonel, the shifty sun-glass wearing government agent, the tired old professor/mentor, the cookie-cut-out female character, the team of haggard commandoes, and OH! . . . who oh who could the creature really be! Each and every one of these characters aren't worth the time of day. They are totally forgettable!

Do not let the back cover blurbs lure you into reading this paperback!

"Lightning-quick tale..." Hardly. Long winded prose and inane dialogue, more like.

"Riveting...Non-stop action and terror..." Not at all.

I have never written a review quite so brash before. Save your money for a better novel out there. If this were ever to appear on the big screen, I'll wager the reviews will be ONE BIG THUMBS DOWN.

I'd give this thing zero stars if I could. I wish I could have that day and a half of my life back so that I might read something of substance.

Summary: As bad as they get ...
Review: The most inane mass of macho mayhem ever written. This book is a definite waste of paper.

Summary: Exciting action adventure, but needs technical help
Review: This is one of the most exciting stories I've read all year. A great yarn about an incredible hunter tracking a deadly creature created in a molecular biology lab. I wish the author hadn't tried to through in some technical jargon he really didn't understand(like the basics of evolution and, at times, confusing what electron microscropy and electrophoresis can do-a pretty serious error for those of us who have worked in molecular biology). However, if you ignore these clumsy excursions into science, it's just plain and simply a great yarn.

Summary: Riveting! Smashing!! Terrific!!!
Review: Awesome novel, though CAIN was way better! Byron Huggins has sort of written HUNTER while taking the idea previously used in CAIN, besides how many books of his will have gun-totting, meat eating, wolf-petting guys who play the "unwitting hero"?

It was still a good read & a page turner.

Am really happy to note that Sly Stallone is on this project, he deserve to be in a good flick!

Summary: The ultimate fight of good vs. evil!
Review: This is my 2nd book I have read from this author, the 1st being CAIN. There are similarities to these two novels but it just must be his formula. IT WORKS! I am hooked and have already bought his other 3 novels. Cain was better but HUNTER is a damn fine adventure/horror story. The creature was very cool and different - the ultimate predator! Hunter and his black wolf Ghost are a fine pair to match up against this seemingly unkillable creature. They are teamed-up with a group of different-type warriors and hunters that is real fun to read. The action is fast and furious and plentiful, there is never a dull moment, and that says alot for any book. I like this tougher-than-nails attitude this writer takes on, the characters are larger than life and the female leads are interesting and cool to read. I have to say that it is a mite predictable in some cases, but he has a great penchant for words in his epic struggles of ultimate evil and good, you can't help but have fun reading this stuff! I look forward to the movie being made by Sylvester Stallone, but they will have to make this creature a CGI special effects because if they try to get a real human to play the part, I can't see it being done as described by the author. Stallone is too old to play a part like Hunter, sure he is muscular, but this guy was portrayed as moving like a predatory beast. I just hope they don't muck it up! This and Cain would make awesome movies if they put the money into it and do the special effects just right, plus go by the authors writing and it would undoubtedly be a mega-blockbuster. This is a must read for you action/adventure fans out there!

Summary: grateful for the input.
Review: Okay, this is Huggins. I've read the reviews, and I thank everyone that took time out to contribute. I learn something from everyone. Sorry about the use of language, always a problem, believe me, when you are trying to let a character speak for himself. Some characters, quite simply, have no character. And it's sometimes a loss to put words in their mouth that you know they wouldn't use. Yes, I know, it can be shocking or disturbing. For that, I apologize. My aim was to be true to the characters, not all of which were noble or intelligent. And, then, some were indeed noble, and were just conditioned by a lifetime of war to respond in a certain way. The werewolf aspect was difficult, and yes, it was a stretch. Interesting concept though, that Luther was only what all of us are, when you burn away our souls, and conscious, and all that makes us human, and special. So once again, thank you all very much for your words. I respect you for your input, and hope the best for you.

Summary: Fast paced, exciting, a pleasure to read!
Review: After reading the reviews of others about this book I was tempted not to get it. Then I went to Borders and began to read it. I couldn't leave without buying it. Hunter and his beautiful wolf are what I would want protecting my back. Although there is plenty of action and chills, I didn't see the cursing and abundance of sex mentioned in some of the other reviews. Try reading a romance novel for that! Hunter is everything you would want to read if you are looking for a great horror novel. Now I will have to read Huggins other books!
