Summary: OK but not the best
Review: I admit I liked the book enough to finish it but I did have some complaints on the way. The dialog is so lame and the way Hunter is charactorized is just a bit over the top to believe. And the plot is a mix of Dean R Koontz's Watchers and Predator. This book is good for a distraction but definatly not the kick--- book others say it is.

Summary: Non-Stop Terrifying Action!
Review: I devoured this book! The foe is a mutant human monster with horrendous strength and absolutely no conscience, whatsoever. The hero is a tracker who is the best in the world. A sad and lonely man, still Hunter has a soft spot in his heart, especially for lost children. Then we have a strong female secondary character that actually doesn't cry and cower and have to be constantly rescued. Add to that a government conspiracy of blood-chilling proportions and you have a mesmerizing thriller. This book is non-stop action!

Additionally, I especially enjoyed the scenic descriptions of the cold North Pole and Alaskan wilderness. I also was interested in the details of tracking. I felt that that aspect of the story provided useful information I probably otherwise would never have considered.

Gory descriptions of battles with the ferocious monster are liberally scattered throughout the book. Definitely not recommended reading for the overly squeamish. The story flows at a relentless, savage pace. Entertaining fiction! Come; join the hunt if you dare!

Summary: Top of the line character
Review: In Hunter, James Byron Huggins creates several outstanding characters. Two stand out, one is the title character, a tracker with out peer. The other is the creature he is tracking, a horror of rogue genetic tinkering. Obviuosly well researched, you come away with not only an enjoyment of a well written thriller, but an understanding of what trackers look for when going after something, be it a lost child or a siberian tiger.

Summary: How did he get it published?
Review: The author has obviously researched the art of tracking. The details are facinating and informative. It appears however, that he did not research anything else, except perhaps to watch the worst Hollywood trash in search of cliche characters to go with his wildly improbable plot and laughably inaccurate scenes. Altogether this is the most completely contrived piece of.... I have run across in years.

Summary: A bit of a cartoon - Incredible Hulk maybe?
Review: No other villan I have read about has absorbed as much lead and lived. Some of the minor charactors are enjoyable and Huggins prose is easy to read - it was just tiresome to read about somthing taking 30+ hits from a Barrett sniper rifle and asking for more. I also found myself saying "Shoot the thing in the head."

Summary: SHOOT FOR THE EYES!
Review: Another bulletproof monster. Another indomitable hero. Both equally improbable. Corny but entertaining.

Summary: good, or is it?
Review: O.K., I've noticed that people either absolutly love this book with all their heart or totally hate it. What side are you on?

If you like the actors: Arnold, Stallone, Bruce, then you will like this book. If you like warewolves, then you will like this book. If you like big guns and big expolsions, then you will like this book. If you like violence, you will like this book. If you liked "Predator" then you will LOVE this book.

Now, if you demand a believable plot, hate swearing, hate unnecasary violence, want down-to-earth personalities, you will hate this book. If you want in-depth conversations you will hate this book. I hope I have helped.

Summary: Hunter
Review: This book is a beautiful work of literary art. It was an excellent read, and I reccomend it to all readers (with a strong stomach, and a heart for violence, which should pretty much cover everybody.)

Summary: RANKS UP THERE WITH LEVIATHON
Review: THIS BOOK COULD NOT BE PUT DOWN. THE CHARACTERS ARE DIVERSE AND FULL BLOWN. THE CREATURE IS SUPER. WHY AREN'T THESE BOOKS BY MR. HUGGINS COMING OUT AS MOVIES. WOW!

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: Very Good Excapism Fiction
Review: I have been a fan of James Byron Huggins ever since "The Reckoning" came out. I must say, however, this is by far his best work. The character of Hunter fits well with mountain men I have known in the hills of West Virginia. I loved the way he had developed a relationship of mutual trust with Ghost, his wolf. From what I have learned of DNA research, both in graduate school, and post-graduate research, the plot is plausable. Perhaps not now, but soon. One thing about the human race, if we can do something, we will do it, often without counting the ethical and moral costs. This is book well worth reading, both the the fun of it and the social commentary it carries.
