Rating: Summary: They're back! Review: Once again the esteemed adventuring party of the Justicar, Escalla, Cinders and Polk have joined together. They even have a new addition to their party, Enid the Sphinx.I have nothing but good things to say about this novel. Paul Kidd, I really, really hope you write a third one. As is the case with the first novel with the above mentioned characters, I have read it 4 times as well. Excellent novel!

Rating: Summary: A worthy read...especially for the nostalgia Review: So far I've read The Temple of Elemental Evil, White Plume Mountain and Descent; White Plume is probably the best of the 3, although I've enjoyed all of them. From my perspective, I'm not reading these books for great literature; I'm reading them because I have played and read the modules they are based on in my youth and I really enjoy revisiting those familiar locales and situations. I just finished Descent today, and Paul Kidd's descriptions were so vivid I could picture the original module art for the kuo-toan temple. I like the characters that Kidd has developed for his books; they are interesting, cool and the interplay between them is really fun. In general, the characters and situations are a little too convenient, but from a gamer's standpoint I'd love it if it were my character experiencing the story. It does get a bit tedious that the Justicar seems to dismember every opponent in 1 slice, but in the interest of fun it's easy to overlook. Descent is slower than White Plume, using too many of the first 150 pages to set the scene with the faerie storyline; the last part of the book cooks however. One note on writing mechanics: the editing in this book is horrid, with misspelled and missing words galore. All in all, I anxiously await Queen of the Demonweb pits and the Justicar's return!
Rating: Summary: I hated this book Review: This book hurt. It hurt a lot and it will continue to keep on hurting for a very long time. If this book were a movie, then it would be fodder for Mystery Science Theater 3000.
Rating: Summary: Really funny Review: This is book 2 out of 3 (so far). Out of the 3, i loved this one by far the best. I give all 3 books a 5 for sure, but this one was my favorite. The adventuring group gets a little larger. The Justicar and the pixie really start to form a bond. The story really flows well, and you just don't want to put it down. It is very exciting, and fast action-packed page after page. Full of humor to the end, as well. If you've played Dungeons & Dragons and/or played this module, that's even more of a plus. But this book is all out awesome even if you haven't, and just love a good fantasy/adventure book. I definitely recommend reading all 3 books in order though. Check out White Plume Mountain first. :>
