Summary: Fantastic Book
Review: After reading an interview at TSR.com with Richard Baker about this book I could hardly wait to get my hands on it. I was not dissapointed in the least. The main character Jack Ravenwild is now one of my favorite FR characters ever. This book is so witty that it will have you laughing out loud as you read it. It has its fair share of intrigue and adventure that will keep you up at night because you cannot put this book down. My only complaint is that it could have been at least fifty pages longer. The end seemed a bit rushed but overal the books entirety FAR outweighs this slight setback. I hope that we will get to see more of Jack in future FR books. I highly recomend this book to any fan of the forgotten realms series or anyone who enjoys good books.

Summary: An Excellent Read
Review: An excellent read. Didn't once want to put this book down. Will keep you awake well into the wee hours of the morning. This back takes you into the intrigueing City of Ravens, where you follow the thief Jack thru his everyday adventures. Fighting Sorcerers, associating with scoundrals, stealing precious stones, nothing is too great or too small for the Jack of all trades. If you like stories about thieves, mysteries, puzzles, a book full of suspense, treachery, and excitment, then the City of Ravens is definitly for you. I hope you enjoy it as much as I did.

Summary: Very good book
Review: City of Ravens is a great book. The protagonists character is really built upon. Its nice change to have a character that's not the sterotypical hero. I found myself laughing out loud at some of the inside thoughts he has. The only disappointing aspect of this book was the ending, which seemed slightly rushed and hard to follow.

Summary: OVERALL SCORE: (A)
Review: Funny and enjoyable, this is a well written story that feels comfortable, the characters are likable, the plot is fun, the bad guys are interesting, and the story unfolds at a pleasant pace. I loved the complicated plots, Jack Ravenswild is a wonderful character who juggles more plots at one time than seems humanly possible. It is well worth the money!

Summary: Great book
Review: I devoured this book in short order. I loved the colorful thief / mage, Jack as he conned his way in and out of trouble in the city of Ravens. There were a lot of subplots going on, but Richard Baker makes it easy to follow. The charm and wit that Jack possess as well as the characters he runs into are unforgettable. This will probably be one of my favorite Forgotten Realm books and I look forward to reading other Richard Baker novels. Worth reading if you are a Dungeons and Dragons fan and enjoy a lively city adventure with a smart talking thief.

Summary: Better than expected
Review: I like the Forgotten Realms series, but this book was better than I expected in that the plot was not cookie cutter, the plot was convuluted, and was a much more serious read than most in the series. I was expecting fluff, and this was not. (I happen to like a fluff book from time to time but...)

Summary: Could have been better
Review: I thought that this novel had a lot of potential when I bought it, but was disappointed in the way it was presented. The story revolves around Jack Ravenwild, a "Jack of All Trades", who manages to get himself in all kind of trouble within the city of Raven's Bluff.

The story was presented in the First Person throughtout the entire novel which did not leave much room for other persepectives from the other main characters. Fanasy novels usually present stories from many different viewpoints which helps draw the reader into the story and give insight as to how the characters play off one another. This novel does not and it takes away from the story. I began to lose interest after the first 100 pages.

I gave this book 3 stars because it is still a good story that helps deepen the Forgotten Realms Campaign setting (my favorite). I just wish it was written better.
