Rating: Summary: Flint, the King Review: The King of the Gully Dwarves... lol, I never thought I'd see that from Flint! All in all, this was a very enjoyable novel, complete with the humor of the Aghar (gully dwarves), a love interest of Flint's named Perian, magic from the derro of the Theiwar clan of Thorbardin, and the forming of an evil army. This novel definatley gives the reader a different aspects(s)of Flint, for the good, and his family is even broadened here. No other companions, though they are sorely missed during Flint's journey and adventures (by Flint himself) and one thing that was real interesting... in all the other Preludes novels (excluding "Tanis, the Shadow Years"--just getting to that one)the evil queen tries to enter this domain. In this novel she's only mentioned through her forces of evil. No plots of hers are destroyed like the other novels...All in all, worthy of all 5 stars... maybe even more!!
Rating: Summary: Avoid at all costs Review: The premise seems promising enough -- Flint, a curmudgeonly old dwarf, has leadership thrust upon him by a ragtag band of barely-literate, overtrusting gully dwarves. There the novelty ends, however, and the book's enjoyability takes a big plunge. The novel is filled with cliche, cartoonish characters, and the writing is at best tolerable and at worst plain bad. There are so many errors of grammar and logic that I'm surprised an errata sheet wasn't provided. Perhaps this was just the author's first draft which TSR shamelessly rushed to press in pursuit of a quick buck.
Rating: Summary: I am majere9 I've read 40 dl books and I know a good book! Review: This book was great I thought Flint was a dull character until reading this book it really brought him out! Whoever reads this will like It I am quite sure! Thanks Mary Kirchoff and Douglas Niles!
Rating: Summary: Real good book! Review: This is a huge insight on what happened to Flint during the five year period during which the Heroes of the Lance seperated before the War of the Lance. This book has quite a bit of supense. I must admit, the authors' idea of the Highlords smuggling dwarf-made weapons through Flint's home town was a surprise. Flint is a bit different from the way he is in the Chronicle series, but I suppose that is because different authors are toying with him. It's still a definite must read for all DragonLance fans as well as for people new to the saga.

Rating: Summary: Flint deserves better Review: This type of writing really shames the whole fantasy genre. It's an embarrassment to Douglas Niles, who is capable of much better writing; it's an embarrassment to TSR/Wizards of the Coast, who really detract from the quality of Krynn by allowing such drivel to be published; and it's an embarrassment to Mr. Fireforge, who deserves a better novel. I love Flint just as much as the next fan, which is why I bought this book. I would love to return it and ask the authors to put it back on the market when they have something of value to share with the fans.
Rating: Summary: You gotta read this book! Review: This was a vey interesring book. It had very interesting and funny characters(especially the aghar). Mary Kirchoff explained the details and scenes of the story in a very believable way. She exlpains the characters so well that I can imagine them in my head. The story had a lot of adventures and action.
Rating: Summary: Weis and Hickam Quality Review: Totally awesome story. I've never liked the other books in the Dragon Lance series where someone else attempted to steal one of the companions from Weis and Hickam, but Mary and Douglas did an excellent job in portraying the dour dwarf. All of Flint's actions and feelings really fit with his character, making the page-turning plot even more exciting. Highly recommended!!!
Rating: Summary: A fun book! Review: While I don't think as highly of this book as most do, it's still a good book, giving you a glimpse into the lives of Flint's people. I just felt it was a little longer than it needed to be. I have read approx. 60 Dragonlance books & so far there's only 4 - The Oath & The Measure,The Companions,Darkness & Light and Kendermore - that I would have to warn against buying.
Rating: Summary: A great read. Review: Who would of thought a story about Flint and Gully Dwarves could be so moving? This book is very good and it captures the spirit of the first two trilogies. It has everything you can ask for in a fantasy novel, action, danger, comedy, romance (who would of thought that Flint could be romantic) and a great villian. this was by far my favorite in the Preludes series so far. It shows you another side of Flint other than the grumpy old dwarf, and it gives you a better understanding of why he was the way he was in the first trilogy. My hat goes off to Mary Kirchoff & Douglas Niles they did a fine job.
