Rating: Summary: Awesome Review: I really loved this book. For most of the story Vinas is rather evil, and then he changes. It was cool to know that even the legendary founder of the Solamnic Knoghts wasn't a perfect person. I did think it should have included more about the forming of the Knighthood, though. It would have been better longer.
Rating: Summary: Worst Dragonlance book I have read yet! Review: ... Regarding this atrocity, avoid this! The story starts out good, for like ten pages! ... Vinas is worthless in this book. He slaughters innocents and I am supposed to like the leader of the knighthood? Also, some characters are introduced and have some big scenes, but are never talked about again. This is by far the worst book I have read yet of dragonlance. The legend of Huma wasn't this bad!
Rating: Summary: A Disappointment? Only if you didn't read the TITLE! Review: Aside from being one of the SHORTEST DL books, Vinas Solamnus is one of the best. The story has it all: action, romance, great character development, and a history you can sink your teeth into. For those who wanted the tale of the beginnings of the KoS, you obviously did not even read the title or the back. The KoS were a direct result of the experiences Solamnus goes through in this book.Though at times it dragged, and the plot with the empress and the lich were a bit over the top sometimes, I thoroughly enjoyed this book. The story of Solamnus's trials have long remained untold. Now, finally, we see what he truly had to go through to become the great leader that he was. Kudos to King, who remains one of my favorite TSR authors to-date. Buy this book if you are a DL fan. You will not regret it.
Rating: Summary: Pitiful Review: I bought this book as soon as I saw it on the shelf, figuring it would explain how the Knights of Solamnia got started. Wrong! The book focuses on his (Vinas') life, not the Knights. If you ever wondered what the story of Vinas was, keep on wondering. It's better that way. If you are really interested in the Knights of Solamnia, buy the Legend of Huma( it's a 5 star book).
Rating: Summary: One of the best dragonlance books. Review: I decided to buy this book only because it was a dragonlance. I was pleasantly surprised how good it was. Vinas starts out as a fighter for good. His old man dies so he becomes evil. After years of fighting for the evil empire of Ergoth he becomes a rebel and fights for good again. The only mention of the knights of Solamnia is on the very last page. I didn't care though. The battle scenes in this book were detailed and fast paced. A definite buy.
Rating: Summary: Vinus Solamnus and his climb up the career ladder Review: I didn't think that this book delt with the founding of the knights. It felt more like some ambitious guy having a serious mood swing at the last few pages. The oath and the measure seem to have a lot of thought behind them yet this book doesn't even come close to showing their birth. Vinus Solamnus according to this book would not even come close to getting into his own Knighthood.
Rating: Summary: A Big Surprise Review: I got this book because I was interested in getting the Lost Legends Vol.2 I was a little surprised to find this book to be so good. Once I picked it up I couldn't put it down. The writing is very well done and the story line is great.
Rating: Summary: The First book in the series I have read!A MUST READ! Review: I love this book, it is so cool! I have never even heard of this series before, all I did was walk into a bookstore and saw it and decided to start reading books more often so I grabbed it! Rating: Summary: A Big Letdown Review: I purchased 'Vinas Solamnus' because I was intrigued by the idea of reading about the birth of the Knights of Solamnia. I was in for a big Disappointment. The book deals with Vinas as the leader of the evil armies of Ergoth, and never even begins to delve into the foundings of the Knights. There is no mention of this order in the entire book. It's more of a story about battle and war, and less of a story about the Oath and the Measure. There is nothing in this book which appealed to me. Vinus goes from a sadistic evil cad to an upright, pure noble in moments. It doesn't work for me.
Rating: Summary: Vinas Solamnus Review: It's me again. Okay, well, this was a pretty good book, but I've still read better. It got boring after a while, but then it got better. It had a kind of dissapointing ending, but it was still pretty good. It was the second book that I read in the Dragonlance series, and I'm working on my third now. I'd give it three stars because even though it was good, there are still some better ones out there.
