Rating: Summary: Incomplete At Best Review: The point of the story was very vague, the character descriptions so incomplete that I had trouble with whether or not they were male or female in places. The ending left an opening for a second book, but there was never any intention of continuing the characters or their quests. There were points of interesting reading, but many things were never developed.
Rating: Summary: Bad, bad, naughty book. Review: This book has a lot of problems. The main character is not exactly interesting, although he isn't boring...well not much. But the writing style seems to be more for young children than adults. In fact it's very, very descriptive nature actually hurts the book as this insults the reader's intelligence. The dialog also seems to be for children without any complexity at all. So, unless your a young RPG acolyte, don't buy it.
Rating: Summary: A poor book by any standards... Review: This book leaves much to be desired. First of all, the author leave too many unfinished stories. For example, it gives you an interesting epilogue which introduces almost the best rounded characters in the story. At the end of this epilogue, the author gives us the hint that these characters are going to return to the main story, but this never happens. This elemment in the book repeats itself even with another character Jaeleen, which is mentioned in almost half of the book but it is never given a satisfactory conclusion (the character disappears without a trace and a reason as to why). Also I found the action of the story (such as battle scenes) being poorly described and ended so fast that they became pointless. (One hit-one kill). The development of the story and characters leaves much to be desired. For example, the main character is an "overqualified" adventurer who never lose an argument or a battle. At the end of the book, we have a main character who knows everything, fights (and wins) with everything. Indeed, it makes it difficult for the reader to identify him(her)self with the main character. My recommendation...do not buy this book. There are other and much better fantasy books out there.

Rating: Summary: A grand adventure with a lot to offer Review: This is a very well written tale of a hero continuing the search for something that his mentor was killed searching for. The characters are very well written, complete with fascinating back-stories and the plot is strong and very well though out. The supporting characters, as well as the hero's companion, are equally well written, creating a very captivating setting. Many minor characters come and go leaving your imagination to fill in their tales and adding to the intrigue of the overall tale. I think other books would be a fantastic way to explore some of these people and the fact that Mel does not stray from the plot to explore them in this book is wise choice. Anyone who likes the concept of an adventure not being focused on combat alone will thoroughly enjoy this book! I have read it many times and will continue to do so without wearing of the story.
