Summary: I hadn't read a bad Dragonlance book until...
Review: ...I read this. Absolutely horrid. I read less than 100 pages before I got too disgusted to read anymore. The book doesn't contain any likeable or sympathetic characters. In fact, they're all terrible. I'm not sure which I hate the most: the wanna-be prostitute half-elf or the amoral "hero." The entire cast of "good guys" delights in cruelity without reason and bloodlust. Right, if I wanted to read about people like this, I'd buy Helter Skelter.

Summary: Very Enjoyable
Review: After having spent the last couple years reading text books for school, I was ready for a great adventure. Although Rabe's Downfall was not the greatest book in the world, it did satisfy my immediate needs. The thing I thought was hokey is a couple times when one of the main characters, Maldred, uses magic to win the heart of his traveling companion, Fiona, and all I could think of is that it's the Jedi Mind Trick all over again. Oh well. The book had it's moments and was good enough that I ordered the other two books in the series.

Summary: Amazing
Review: Although I am one of the select few who hasn't read any of her previous works, Jean Rabe is an amazing author. I particularly liked the way she described the characters and plot. She didn't dwell on how the sweat dripped from his forehead, yet she gave enough information that you knew what was happening at all times. I enjoyed this because I was not bored with details about someone who may die in a few chapters. I highly recommend this book, but only if you read the War of Souls first, to give you an idea of what has happened.

Summary: Dragonlance: Downfall the legend of Dhamon
Review: Downfall by Jean Rave is very well planned out. The plot is easy to seperate from the details of book. The adventure in the story is engrossing. and mysterious. While teh characters are journeying around and the events take place, no matter what the story alwyas stay on track of it's main plot. It's a good stroy, but it's like a movine-if you miss a poart, then it doesn't make sense at all. The plot of the story is clear and easy to follow. While reading the story, I admit it was hard to remember all of teh hundreds of citeis that they had traveld to. But it was also easy to understand the past of teh main character. Since the book is part of a saga, the ending that led to the sequels wasn't too vague. The antagonist and the heros of the book aren't all that hard to seperate, but they could use a little work. It was really amazing to me how the author how the author made you feel like you were part of the story. The book also described the characters very vividly. I could easily picture each of the characters personalities. The way the book was written, it felt like something important was always happening and that none of the information was there just to make it look long. The author made all of the creatures come to life and made a wonderful book to read.

Summary: Dragonlance: Downfall the legend of Dhamon
Review: Downfall was the first book I read from Dragonlance realm, big mistake on my part. But I didn't learn and thought the second book of this series, betrayl, would be better. BoyO', I was wrong.

Downfall starts off with the main character, Dhaemon, being an uninteresting and very annoying, it ends the same way too. The plot and the characters were very hard to believe and were even harder to like. After finishing this book it left me with nothing, except a strongly dislike towards dragonlance novels and for a couple of years I refused to read them. But don't worry, I like Dragonlance now.

Even if you have read the core books (chronicles and legends) and are looking for other dragonlance novels, stay clear of this one. It's really horrible.

Summary: My very first Dragonlance novel!
Review: Finally I made up my mind to have my very first Dragonlance novel which I believe would be so fascinating! Originally I expected there would be adventures full of dragons, fighting with or against different race of beings, it turns out that it is not practically true! Dhamon, to be my first character known from the DL series, impressed me so much that you won't believe there had been such a glorious period before his "downfall". Struggling between true and false makes the story really attractive to me. Though the problem Dhamon faced is mentioned at the very beginning of the story, it has not been resolved, however, even after the end of the story which frustrated me. Anyway, I would say this novel is overall a good one which I recommend to have one on the bookshelf. I am expecting the second series to come.

Summary: Give Jean a Break
Review: First off, I love Dragonlance. Margaret and Tracey did not leave Jean with much to work with, but she has turned the ashes of the Chaos War into a new world of magic. The character Dhamon is not a Sturm or Caramon, but more of a combination between Sturm and Raistlen. I was not able to put the book down until I turned the last page. Then I was disappointed at the fact I would have to wait for volume 2.

Summary: Please Stay Away!!!!!
Review: First off, when reading any of rabes DL work, one must wonder if she has ever ventured into the world of Kryn. Last time I checked Dracions don't hiss like snakes. If I remember correctly, they talk just like humans and elves and kender. That fact above all things really set me off. With this book, I could not wait to put it down. Usally with DL I have to force myself to stop reading but with rabes Downfall I set it down eagerly. Another thing that ticked me off is that every main character in the book is as good with a weapon as 3 regular people. Not very exciting if you ask me.

Summary: Dissapointed
Review: I am 30 years old and have been reading Dragonlance since I was a sophomore in HS and this by far has been the most dissapointing book of them all. Yes, the author's writing has improved from her first stories, but all in all I find the entire story boring until the very end. Many times I had to go back and re-read what I had already read, because she was unable to capture my attention. It is nice to hear from some of the old characters, and of course I would purchase the next book in the series, but don't waste an entire Sunday afternoon reading this one, do some lawn care as well!
