Rating: Summary: Mini autobiography with action throughout. Review: I would say that the book is a story about Zefram cochrane's life before and after warp drive. A very good read I would recommend it.
Rating: Summary: Not a classic, but good. Review: This book is good and I enjoyed reading it. However, it is not as good as other books I have read, but is the best Star Trek book I have read. The characters in this book did not come alive as I believe they should, but the plot was very interesting and kept me interested.
Rating: Summary: This is The "Trek" Book To Read!! Review: This is one of those rare books that you just can't put down. This is a team of authors that you'll want to read again and again. They did a great job of bringing the Guardian back into the story. After "The City on the Edge of Forever" Kirk never spoke of the guardian until now. I had wondered how they were going to bring back Cochrine and the Companion into not only the first generation but the next generation. But all my questions were answered in this great book that literally spans the generations. Kirk and Picard need to be brought together more often and I hope that it's the Reeves- Stevens pair that brings them together. This is a wonderful book for all lovers of Star Trek and I strongly recommend it!
Rating: Summary: ST: FIRST CONTACT adversly usurps this book's storyline. Review: The movie ST: FIRST CONTACT destroyed any reason for a fan of any of the series to ever buy a book based on these series again. This is an absolutely riviting account based on the life of the father of warp drive--a true visionary among fictional characters. However, the film not only destroyed the plausibility of this book; it also contradicted the character of Cochrane in the previous STAR TREK episode, "Metamorphosis". Still it's a great book to read that's written by two of the greats--just ask William Shatner. And finally, down with Rick Berman's playing with the STAR TREK history he had no part of, and doesn't deserve to.
Rating: Summary: Tied in well with all the Generations. Review: I know that Federation came out before First Contact, the movie. I found that Federation tied all the generations together better than First Contact. The topic of the Third World War and the Optimum movement shows what man used to be to the glowing future history that we know as Star Trek. Federation even gave us a glimpse that the voyage never ends or our thirst for exploration. I feel that Gene Roddenberry's dream was summed up quite well by this book. In summation; I loved this book.
Rating: Summary: DAMNED BE THOSE WHO DON'T READ THIS BOOK Review: THE BEST OF THE BEST OF THE BEST OF THE BEST, THIS TREK BEATS THE REST. One of the best books I have read. Very very good. Great science-fiction and great Star Trek. Detailed, well developed story and characters, and highly entertaining story-telling. I RECOMMEND THIS TO ANYONE WHO LIKES A GOOD READ.
Rating: Summary: It made the science of Star Trek more believable! Review: If you think the science of Star Trek is impossible, think again! The way two authors can conceivably make the readers believe it really happened makes me excited about the future. It's not like the history presented in First Contact which disagrees with much things. Read it and you might be the one to prove the warp theory!
Rating: Summary: The best book I have ever read Review: This was the most engrossing book I have ever read. Once I started, I couldn't put it down. Two of my friends have read it, one of who doesn't even like science fiction. They both loved it. For new Trekkers, this book provides wonderful insights into the history of Star Trek. Highly recommended; make sure you have lots of time on your hands when you start--you won't want to put it down
Rating: Summary: Brilliantly Written Review: This book grasps you and never lets go until the end. The Zephrem Cochrane character in this book has diametrically opposed characteristics as the one in First Contact, in a good way. The only disappointment I have is that Kirk and Picard never met face-to-face, as I expected. But the novel is brilliantly written with vivid descriptions and surprises from the Old Series. Don't miss the great quote on the very first page
