The story is far more than interesting. It is more than worth the price

Summary: yadda, yadda
Review: Generations and First Contact are five times better than this book. I have to say, the authors make Zephram Cochrane sound like a selfless, noble, perfect hero instead of just a normal, ordinary guy. I am getting tired of hearing every hero is noble, selfless, brave man who always risks his life to give a good contribution to the civilization.

I love the movie because it truly defines Zefram Cochrane's charaxcter. He's not only a non-perfect guy but he's greedy and selfish.

Yes, I admit this is a beautifully written book and I enjoyed reading it but you can't argue with the movies.

Summary: must read for all trek fans
Review: Over the last 20 years or so I have the pleasure of reading many excellent trek novels by many different authors. After "FEDERATION" nothing was ever quite good enough. Here is an epic tail which encompasses the two most popular crews in an outstanding and carefully written story. Light is finally shed on many cruciall moments of Federation history.Icould go on and on extolling the authors virtues but this would only ruin a glorious tail. This is what storytelling is all about!

Summary: READ THIS ONE
Review: I am in the process of going back and reading some of the older ST:TOS novels that I a) have nevr read or b)read so long ago that I had forgotten them. This is an excellent melding of the two series without the characters actually meeting one another. (at the time they originally wrote this novel, Roddenbery wanted the casts kept separated, I think.) What can I tell you? Zefram Cochrane, the companion, the eugenics wars, time travel, a very nasty Data (though not his fault), the Borg , the Preservers. This one is worth reading.

Summary: A Star Trek Book for the SERIOUS Trekkie
Review: I bought this book based upon the fantastic 'Prime Directive' which, until THIS book was released was THE GREATEST Star Trek novel in print--bar NONE. Judith and Gar have outdone themselves with a truly gripping story that is very difficult to put down. I at first had the impression that the crews of the original series would be 'mixing it up' with the crew of Next Generation a lot in this story, and without spoiling the plot, just DON'T expect that, and, well, it'd be hard NOT to enjoy this book regardless of what you expect. After reading it you can't help but notice the glaring storyline error's in 'First Contact' but don't worry about it, the book isn't about defining problems in the movies--it's about as good a story as you are likely to find in print, and written in superior Trek style. Gene Roddenberry would have LOVED to have these authors on his payroll--unless he DID and I am unaware of it. Gene was a visionary, and this book takes that vision and adds tremendous depth and entertainment value. Every Trek fan will find this a good read, but the true Trek Nerds will find it a GREAT book because of how the past is tied together so well, so seamlessly, so FUN. If you are struggling over which Trek book to read and 'Federation' is one you haven't got ahold of yet, well what are you waiting for? Grand Sci Fi in Grand tradition. As usual, read, enjoy and thank me later. Let me know what you thought of the book: rmgomske@lightcom.net Ciao!

Summary: ONE OF THE BEST
Review: This novel was truely one of the best Star Trek books that I have ever read. Its version of Zefram Cochran is far better that that of "First Contact's" and I think that most people would agree with that. I also think that most people would agree that they wish thet the episode and movie writers were as good as Judith Reeves and Garfield Reeves-Stevens. The book was absolutly WONDERFUL, I would recomend it to and Trek fan. I, myself have read it three times and it was equaly as enthrawling every time.

Summary: An excellent pre-Federation story, with current tie-ins
Review: This was an excellent book. I loved reading the history of the pre-Federation, how warp-drive was developed and the expansions of the classic Star Trek episode of the Companion and Cochrane. The plot containing the threat to the Federation was well-formed and every loose end was tied nicely.

In my opinion, a must have.

Summary: This is terrific!
Review: I am a huge Star Trek fan, and I've read a lot of Star Trek books, but this is still the best Star Trek I have ever read. This is a must-read for Star Trek fans.

Summary: A MUST READ, better 21st century storyline than ST:FC
Review: I am sorry but it is true. I am an avid fan of Star Trek: First Contact, in fact it is my favourite Star Trek movie but Federation gives a much more realistic 21st century, Zefram Cochrane storyline. It incorporates established 21st century events into the story effortlessly. The writing is perfect and the story is flawless (providing you forget everything First Contact establishes about Zefram Cochrane, the first warp flight and first contact with the Vulcans, but don't worry, they are still dealt with). The new characters, Adrik Thorsen in particular, are perfectly portrayed and the way the story wraps itself up at the end is most satisfying. Enjoy it when you read.
