Summary: Another excellant writing by William Shatner.
Review: As usual, William Shatner does credit to the ever-growing legend that is Captian Kirk. The story has alot of interesting turns and twists that will keep readers to the edge of their seats, or up in their beds till the book is finished. The reason that my rating was only four stars wasn't because of the book itself, it was because like most other fans, I immediately wanted to open up the sequel to this one and finish the story. Sigh, maybe we should mail William Shatner some candles or something like that so he can burn some midnight oil.

Rating: 4 stars
Summary: pretty good....not his best job
Review: This was a good read. You must have read the rest of the books he's written or you will be so lost you'll not enjoy it. The worst part about all this is we have to wait a year for the final chapter! Tip for Shatner....Let the kid live!! Thanks for making Iowa a wasteland! It should wake some people up.

Summary: Almost but not quite
Review: Almost, but not quite perfect. Though, this is a departure from "Kirk, the superhero" as shown in the last couple of novels, we still see Kirk as the embodiment of all that makes Star Trek enjoyable. Shatner not only has a firm grasp on what makes Kirk tick, but does justice to all ST:TNG and other Star Trek incarnation characters. Unlike Paramount Pictures, he doesn't draw a line in the sand seperating the two generations, forcing fans to choose between which is the better show. Perhaps the big wigs and decision makers will take a look at the success of this and other Shatner Star Trek novels and use one of his books as a treatment for the next movie. Its starting to look like they are running out of good ideas.

Rating: 3 stars
Summary: Entertaining, but a year is to long to wait for part tnree.
Review: I found Dark Victory to be an enjoyable read, and if it were followed by a sequel in two or three months,I would give it at least four stars.I feel that a year between parts of a trilogy is too long.If this is being done to sustain interest, then Mr Shatner is preaching to the choir. As far as the novel itself,I enjoyed the depiction of Tiberius greatly. One wonders how he can be defeated.I would have liked to have seen more of the history of the mirror universe, and how Tiberius survived. While this may have complicated the plot,it would have been interesting if some of the alternates from Deep Space Nine were thrown in also.I am anticipating Preserver.

Summary: Good book, something missing.
Review: I really like Mr.Shatners Books. I find his whole Star Trek line some of the best written novles (Star Trek wise)out there. His books are right behind Peter Davids. That being said, There was something missing from this book. It seemed rushed. It just didn't "mesh" like the others did. Still, it was an enjoyable read. I hope the other 3 books that he has signed on for live up to the quality and excellence the first 5 books have shown so far. Bring on the next book!!

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: Intricate
Review: William Shatner blends a little darker vision of the Star Trek world into his writings. Much like the Tek-War series, it is a more realistic view of the way things are. The Book is a wonderful continuation of his past books. I rank this one third behind The Return, and Ashes of Eden. All in all, very good.

Rating: 4 stars
Summary: Another Great Shatner book! but...
Review: Shatner did it again with his latest vision of Star Trek. I love how he manages to meld the past old series story lines with the new and a few twists along the way. The only problem I feel with this one was that he really played Kirk up a bit too much and he nearly always has to have Kirk have major conflicts with Picard. Almost as if he wants his readers to dislike Picard. Lastly, I really wish he'd stop leaving us waiting for the next book. It's one thing to have a story line continue in a series of books but in this one as like the last one we have to wait a year to see what happens next.

Rating: 3 stars
Summary: Not bad but my least favorite so far...
Review: I can't quite put a finger on what I didn't like about this book but it just didn't grab me like the rest have. As I've read in another review, it was definately a book in the middle of a trilogy. Just enough to continue the first and barely enough to lead into the next. I'm sure Perserver will wrap everyhting up but I'm not sure what purpose this bit of story line served.

I have to say though that the think Shatner's books have been some of the best Star Trek novels I've ever read and would make an excellent couple movies (the first trilogy being an even numbered movie :D ). Too bad Paramount didn't send off the original cast with something more like these books.

Rating: 3 stars
Summary: Good, but disappointing reflection of previous novels
Review: Shatner does an excellent job of capitalizing on NextGen characterization and blending multiple storylines from the old series, but this 300+ page novel could have been told in a much shorter time. Most annoying was a key plot device (Kirk's abilities) that was not consistent as demonstrated in Spectre. Kirk's emotional control/portrayal was also quite different from previous novels only for the sake of a plot device. Don't worry, you'll know it when you see it. A good read, but not as 'grabbing' as the previous ones.

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: Dark Victory is a great continuation of Spectre.
Review: William Shatner seems to have a knack for writing engaging novels. This continuation was only second to The Return. The most exciting and interesting part of this trilogy is that it manages to blend all four Star Trek series smoothly. It is great for Kirk and Picard to be fighting over tactics, seeing the differences between their two styles of command. Shatner has a better understanding of the Star Trek universe than anyone, especially some of the one-time Star Trek authors. I can't wait for the next part, and keep them coming!
