Summary: No Smoke and "Mirrors" Here, Folks: Just A Solid Story
Review: Shatner is back, and boy, are we glad!

The Mirror Universe is a fun but complex world to delve into, and Shatner keeps us guessing all the way to the last page. I lost count of how many scenes started out looking as if things would go one way, only to have them turn on their head one or two or THREE times!

Shatner has put together a well written page-turner that maintains suspense without sacrificing character development. This book brings back Scotty (finally!) and puts McCoy back in action, thanks to new "synthetic muscles" (who cares, at least he's moving now!) -- along with the ever-logical Spock.

The plot is fast-paced, the action quick and hard, and the internal development Kirk undergoes is interesting to read. Finally, Teilani goes back into action -- and now she's carrying the biggest surprise to Kirk since David Marcus in "Wrath of Khan"!

Perhaps it's unfair to keep expecting an author to turn out better and better work, but on many levels, Shatner does just that --

And Kirk wouldn't have it any other way.

Rating: 4 stars
Summary: Great book-full of surprises!
Review: Shatner is getting better with age and his blending of old Star Trek with new is fantastic! Leave it to one of the originals to keep us "Trekkies" happy!

Summary: Loved The Book
Review: I thought that the book Specter was the best Star Trek book ever written by William Shatner!

Rating: 4 stars
Summary: Excellent book--but premise is flawed.
Review: The book is extremely well written. However, the whole story is based on Kirk being responsible for a mistake made by the mirror-Spock (leaving the Empire vulnerable before its new policies had allowed it to forge a cooperative federation). The "mirror" characters blame Kirk and he accepts it...but it's not logical.

Summary: Quite suspenseful
Review: William Shatner should be considered the "Father of Sci-Fi". I thoroughly enjoyed the way he interplayed the duplicates of all characters (especially Spock). I look forward to the sequel (Dark Victory).

Rating: 4 stars
Summary: Not a dull moment to be had.
Review: This book was great. Shatner et al pull so many little things from the other Star Trek books and movies that it make the story fulfilling.

Only problem I didn't like was that there was no final ending. It is to be continued. I see many of these series doing this. This one was not too bad, because it did tell us the end of many things. Thumbs up and I can't wait for the next book by Shatner et al.

Summary: Best of Shatner's STAR TREK works - Bumped THE RETURN to 2nd
Review: Absolutely gripping story. Couldn't put it down. Had it read in a few hours. Great plot twists, constant action, kept you on your toes. No dull moments in this book. Have to say it did bump THE RETURN off #1. Both were excellent. SPECTRE made totally made up for AVENGER. Hope DARK VICTORY gets out ASAP!

Summary: Great Book!!!!!
Review: I loved reading William Shatner's latest book. The only dissapointing part is there is no ending! I can't wait till "Dark Victory" comes out. When I started reading this book it was hard to put down. I recommend it to any person who enjoys Star Trek.

Summary: Only half the story......
Review: I have read all the recent Shatner novels and by far this is the best. Maybe because I'm intrigued by the Mirror Universe (okay, I actually bought the original episode 'Mirror, Mirror'.

This novel fillin some of the blanks that were left over from the original series, TNG, and DS9. I also really liked the idea of incorporating aspects of Voyager. Shatner is really a stickler for continuaity issues.

The only real problem I had was what I thought was the mis-characterization of some of the main characters themselves like Spock and even Kirk (though he wrote it!). There were just some situations where I couldn't see Spock react the way he did.

The novel ended with a great cliffhanger, desperatly awaiting the next one. Again, the best Shatner-Trek novel to date.

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: Spectacular
Review: This is one of the best Trek novels ever with a great plot twist at the end.
