Summary: Review of Spectre
Review: The characters in the story Spectre are poorly developed. The characters I am speaking of are not Kirk, Spock, and McCoy but the characters from the mirror universe. Janeway in the story is portrayed as a deadly assassin but the reader does not learn how Janeway became bitter and violent towards the Alliance. T'Val, the mirror Spock's daughter, is barely used in the story. The reader learns very little about her character except that she is the mirror Spock's daughter and ally of Janeway. The structure in Spectre was poor as well. Specifically what was poor was the transitions from scene to scene. One moment the reader is on the planet Earth and the next minute the reader finds the characters on the moon and then in the mirror universe and so on. Shatner does not keep the characters in a set number of scenes as he did in Avenger. This excessive transitioning can cause the reader to not only get confused but lose interest in the story. There are also too many unnecessary scenes such as when the shuttlecraft St. Lawrence gets inside the Sovereign's shields to hijack it and when Kirk is in the bar on Earth visiting Captain Bateson and Scotty. In Spectre there was too much action which caused not only a lack of characterization but sloppy transitioning from scene to scene. The mirror universe setting was appropiate for the story and Shatner's description of it was very good but the description could have been extended more. There is also too much melodrama on the part of Captain Kirk. The reader already knows he loves Teilani from the three previous books and consistently being reminded of that love on every other page is redundant. Spectre is not an original plot and neither is the mirror universe. The mirror universe was originally introduced on the first Star Trek series from 1966-69 and is still used frequently on the tv series Deep Space Nine. The plot is not original because most of it was taken from the Deep Space Nine episode where Captain Sisko was smuggled into the mirror universe by Smiley (the mirror Chief O'Brien) to help the rebels construct the Starship Defiant to use against the Alliance. The reader would have found Spectre more enjoyable if there was less action and more development of character. Spectre would also be more enjoyable if Shatner used less narration and more dialogue between the characters. Finally, Spectre would have been a better story had it not plagiarized an idea from a tv series.

Summary: What a great book!
Review: At first, I thought Voyager had come home, and I couldn't put it down. One fault is that it is slightly unbeleivable. I mean come on, a transporter pad big enough for a SHIP? Oh, well, better luck next time, Mr. Shatner.

Summary: The Best Book I have ever read!!!
Review: Spectre by William Shatner is the best book I have ever read. It is a great book for any Star Trek fan. It ties Picard and Kirk in together very well. I even liked how the story involved Scotty, McCoy, and Spock. I also liked how it tied the mirror universe in. I highly recommend this book.

Summary: Great Book!!!! ...Can't wait for the sequel!
Review: I must admit, when I saw Return on the shelf of my local Walden Books, I said: "Of course Shatner wouldn't let Kirk die," but man am I glad he (Shatner) didn't. This latest of three in a series leaves you in a suspenseful cliffhanger. If you have not seen the original series, or have no idea about the Mirror Universe, watch the series. I personally love this book. My only question is: " What is the name of the sequel?"

Summary: If it were possible, I'd give this book 10 stars!
Review: I absolutely, positively loved this book! It combines all the excitement of some of the old cast with the awesome adventures of Picard and the new Enterprise-E. It brings back old subjects, from the original Star Trek episode Mirror, Mirror, and explains what the mirror spock did after the Enterprise had encountered him. The book is wriiten so well that each character becomes so familiar to the reader and the storyline gets him or her entranced. I recommend this book to anyone. Shatner knows his Star Trek, (as he should), and he's written a, in my opinion, perfect Star Trek novel.

Summary: A vary good Book!
Review: A book worthy of Star Trek! Could be better if Shatner read Dark Mirror(Star Trek).

Summary: Spectre is incredible!
Review: William Shatner did it again with his latest smash hit "Spectre". The story of Kirk's journey of self discovery along with the battle against the invading mirror universe dissidents is second only to his other best-seller, "The Return". From the beginning on Chal to the epic climax on the bridge of a mirror Starship Voyager, Kirk and Picard team once again to stop something that has already been started, a vicious plot to replace high ranking Starfleet personnel with their twins. Planned and orchestrated by none other than Kirk's twin, the evil emperor Tiberius, who now has control of the Enterprise-E. I can't wait for the conclusion to this five book saga, "Dark Victory", to be released!

Summary: A EXCELLENT STAR TREK NOVEL BAR NONE
Review: I found SPECTRE BY WILLIAM SHATNER to be a great story it follows up on the MIRROR, MIRROR episode of the TOS. Which I always wanted to see happen and what the consequences were due to KIRK'S conversation with the mirror SPOCK. And how that SPOCK would act on KIRK'S words would he or would he not take KIRK'S advice This book is a must read for all STAR TREK fans. I enjoyed it immensley and those who love STAR TREK will too.
