Summary: Shatner continues to amaze and entertain!
Review: I have been a fan of Mr. Shatner's writing since he wrote the "Tek Wars" series. Since I am also a big fan of Star Trek, I simply love his latest works. With each new Star Trek novel of Shatner's I have read, I have been continually more and more impressed by his writing -- it just keeps getting better! I loved this book, and can't wait to get my hands on the next!

Summary: The best in the series so far.
Review: Spectre is a big step in the right direction for Mr. Shatner after the somewhat disappointing (but still good) Avenger. The storyline involving the mirror universe is well-laid-out; I was especially impressed with the reason that was given for the divergence of the mirror universe from our own universe. Spectre rarely has a dull moment. It remains action-packed right up until the surprising climax at the end of the book, which definitely made me want to buy Dark Victory for the continuation of the story. I hope Mr. Shatner keeps the rest of his series as good as Spectre.

Summary: It was Awesome!!!!
Review: I only bought this book last and I started reading it only 3 days ago and I just finished it this afternoon (Saturday,April 17,1999). I could not rip myself from it when I had to go to bed. I really enjoyed this book. I can't wait to buy and read Star Trek: Dark Victory the next book in the series. And by the way I am a really big Star Trek fan. Everything from Star Trek The Original Series to Star Trek: Voyager to all of the Star Trek movies.

Summary: The Best
Review: The best Trek book i've read

Summary: Enough with the bad reviews...
Review: Really then, my friends.. This book was wonderous-- i read it in less than four days. That's quite a small time fer me, thankyou. I could barely stop from reaching for it at every turn. Now, i am rather disturbed at the negative reviews, constantly stating that there was not enough character development, etc etc. And the physics of it all. Well *really*... It is a 3 book series, in other words, its really a 900 or so page book, not just one. And as for physics... Come on, ST is very off base science in many cases. But does it matter? Hell no! This book was great, worth reading over and over. Later everyone... And by the way-- ignore my grammar and such-- i am talking in sim-speak. Ask a friend. <eg> ::waves::

Summary: THE COVER SAYS IT ALL!
Review: When I saw that puppy staring me back in the bookstore, I damn near broke my neck running out to reach that thing. Wow! DS9 has done a half-decent job handling the mirror universe, but you knew there was so much more to it! WOW! Is thing incredible! This answers a lot of old questions from even back in the first TV series all the way through, and raises some new ones. Again, the character development and portrayal is dead on, and it is just amazing how many different tricks Shatner is turning over. It is obvious Shatner has decided to take it upon himself to do what the powers that be over Star Trek no longer do: Continue the epic saga. Star Trek isn't just about a week to week thing of some soap opera situationl; THIS is Star Trek: Action, Adventure, huge stakes, great characters in the center of it all. Reading Shatner's books, you really get that old feeling back that you are witnessing an unflolding saga, as opposed to the soap opera that has been presented over the past several years. Witness true Star Trek once again! I look forward to Shatner's books like I used to look forward to the movies. His love for Star Trek and its characters is truly a revelation to behold. Get all of his books and compare them to what has been on TV and in the movies for the past several years. Don't just take my word for it... The story unfolding here is so ambitious and limitless: Just the way Star Trek ought to be. It's great to see all of the great characters working together, and it is believable. When Star Trek is done right, it stands on its own laurels and can be just as proud of itself as Star Wars is.

Summary: Best Star Trek Novel Ever Written!!
Review: This has got to be the best ST novel ever written. Shatner has outdone himself with this book. I simply could not put it down. Finished in just 2 1/2 days, I was crying to go back to the book store for the next in line. Talk about a cliff-hanger - WOW! I wanted to scream when I got to the last page. Never have I seen a cliff-hanger done so well. Good job, Mr. Shatner. Bravo, bravo.

Summary: This is an excellent book.
Review: I really loved this book. It gave lots of cool information on the mirror universe and how it formed. I can not wait for the sequel, Dark Victory. It is a lot better than all the non star trek books, but out of star trek books I give it four stars.

Summary: A real page-turner!
Review: While I agree with some of the other comments, that some of the characters are under-developed, this book is still a fascinating read. As for Kirk's ego-trip (not Shatner's), it seems perfectly in keeping with his character as we know it. I can't wait to read the sequel!
