Summary: Excellent Book.
Review: This book is a follow-up to the mirror universe episodes. So, we should see change in the mirror universe in this book.

Summary: Shatner wants to become new Asimov?
Review: One more in Shatner's series of Star Trek books. Definetely worth of reading if you're ST fan. It's an easy-reading, but it has rather predictable ending. What came to my attention is that a 'Seldon Institute of Psychohistory' was mentioned and that's a quote from Asimov's Foundation Series. The book remain unfinished, which means Shatner wants sequel to seel good. Asimov never done that, never so openly. There was always room for next novel, but he never sticked a 'Read it in my new book, only $9.99' label on it. Better luck next time, William.

Summary: One of the many great works of a fantastic author.
Review: This was the first book I ever read by William Shatner. Since then he has become my favorite author. His books are simply the best.

Summary: Well written, must buy the next one!
Review: Written by someone with an intimate knowledge of most of the characters, and a talented writing team, it's no surprise that this is a good book. From the first page to the last, I was involved with the story, and the characters. I can't wait to read the continuation of this story. To me, this is the highest praise a writer can hope for.

Summary: Make it stop! Please, just make it stop!
Review: This book was...well, another in the seemingly endless chain of Shatner epics. Mr. Shatner is in an enviable situation: he gets to write about his favorite Star Trek character (which is also his alter-ego)and he gets to play in the Trek universe, assisted by talented authors, with a guarantee that his story will be read by the public, and he gets PAID for it ! This book is really just Paramount-approved fanfiction, and not very good fanfic at that. In my opinion, he has distorted the characters we all know and love, especially the females. They all seem to be soft and dependant on the male characters, and they all find Kirk irrisistable (even Janeway !) The plot is just a rehash of all of his previous books: A problem arises, which threatens The Galaxy, The Federation, Life-As-We-Know-It, take your pick. The problem is, of course, too big to be dealt with by Star Fleet's finest, so after some prodding, Kirk gets the old Enterprise gang together. The remarkably fit senior citizens end up saving the day, Kirk gets whatever women he happens to find attractive, and the book ends. But is it really the End? Blah! I would not reccommend this book unless you are a diehard Kirk/Shatner fan, and even then it would be very unsatisfying.

Summary: Can't retire yet Capt. Kirk the universe need you!
Review: I've always enjoyed the Star Trek movies and the series but I didn't read the books until,"The Return". I've also read,"Avenger" and now,"Spectre" and I've really enjoyed reading them. I like seeing Capt.Kirk back in action with his old friends and the TNG crew and the slick way the movies and old episodes are tied in to the books. I liked this book because of the old episode tie in where Capt. Kirk's good intentions didn't get good results and he has to see and deal with what has happened because of it. I look forward to the next book and hope Mr. Shatner keeps Capt. Kirk alive and in action for a long time.

Summary: To be continued? What that heck is that all about?
Review: There is nothing I hate more than reading a book and being left wondering what will happen next. It would be far better to have the sequel pick up with the next adventure. Anyway, this book is fairly decent. I preferred Avenger and The Return a lot more, but Shatner is still able to keep my attention. I do think that Picard & Co, are a little overkill. I would like to see something from Sulu, Uhura, Chekov and Spock. The idea and concept of Teilani is cool but I wonder if its getting in the way to Kirk's "persona." Don't get me wrong now. Teilani is a great edition. I would just like to see her join Starfleet as a member of Kirk's crew instead of running back to Chal. Also wuz up wid Scotty's sudden disdain for Kirk? Overall, this book is good. Lots of action, plot twists, etc. But also has a number of loose ends and cliff hangers. Kirk is a lucky man to continue changing the rules, beating the system, and surviving. Star Trek would be nothing without Jim Kirk, no matter whether you like him or not. I looketh forward to reading the sequels. Ya kno what I mean Vern?

Summary: Good, a bit campy, continuity lacking, love interest annoying
Review: Well, not better than the Return, for sure. It seems since Avenger, these books have gone downward as if Shatner's not sure what to do ith his Kirk persona. The love interest on this alien world is very stupid; given the way he describes it, you'd think it was Tony Randall and his wife. It's pleasant to read the call backs to the original TV series but he ignores the loss of Kirk's son and Carol Marcus altogether, which would have been better for Kirk's personal trials. Picard was a potted plant in this book, and the E-II crew served as a marketing tool to bring in the New Generation crowd. These happenstance team-ups in the middle of the universe are getting insulting. I think we can have a Kirk adventure without Picard & Co. just happening to be there...again. (How small is the ST universe, anyway?) At least he didnt have Kirk & Picard fighting...again. I did marvel at Kirk's ways of getting out of messes and bought into most of his soultions. But I was extremely annoyed at the last minute saves that were ridiculous, and the muttled ease by which things happen....I guess that's to appeal to those who hate to think. Again, good read, but not worth the cost of hardcover.

Summary: This is a fantastic book!
Review: I love this book. William Shatner holds true to what the Great Bird of the Galaxy would have wanted in a book. It holds true to the original series and all the series that came after. Live long and write more Willam.
