Summary: Absolutely Brilliant!
Review: I really tried to find fault with this book and only succeeded because it finished with a cliffhanger. The premise was rock solid, the story line impeccable in it's mood and superb characterisations; it was true 'Trek'. Shatner and co. incorporated as many 'Trek' characters classic & STNG episodes to craft the best ever sequel to the classic episode 'MIRROR, MIRROR.'

It's the finest Star Trek novel I've ever read. This should have been the next 'Trek' movie, maybe if Paramount weren't so stupid or stubborn to acknowledge Shatner & co's superior plotting and literary skills. SPECTRE has a superb story- line which besides following on from the events in his first three books ASHES OF EDEN, THE RETURN AND AVENGER; interwove and fitted in seamlessly with the events in the eighth movie FIRST CONTACT, Diane Carey's book SHIP OF THE LINE and the DEEP SPACE 9 / VOYAGER series amongst other 'Trek' references to numerous to mention. It was also good to see Scotty back in harness. ( missing from the last two books.) My one quibble is the cliffhanger ending resulting in a year long wait for the sequel: DARK VICTORY. I can't wait!

Peter David read this book and weep. It's vastly superior to your insipid and over-wrought DARK MIRROR. This is how it should be done.

After DARK VICTORY Mr Shatner & Co you may well want write a 'Trek' novel without the legendary Captain James Tiberius Kirk. which would go a long way to silencing his critics if he has some one other than Kirk save the galaxy. Shatner & Co are doing too good a job to stop but maybe a different captain and starship. ( Morgan Bateman perhaps) would be in order. After all, however capable there's only so many times 'one' man can save the universe.

Or how about a novel about the life and times of James T Kirk from his childhood, through the Starfleet Academy years and highlights of his illustrious career to his 'death' on Veridian III.

Summary: Shatner does it again!
Review: They say that nobody knows Kirk like Bill Shatner, and this proves it yet again. Getting practically everybody who is anybody in the ST universe - sometimes two of them! - together in one book took some doing but Mr Shatner has certainly done the trick again. This would have had a 10 from me except that I've got to wait about 12 months for the sequel (conclusion?). But well done again, Mr Shatner!

Summary: What fun to have so many favorite characters in one book
Review: This was sooooo much fun to read -- so many of our favorite spacefarers in one book! (I had a little trouble imagining Kate Mulgrew with weird hair though). Can't wait for "Dark Victory". Please do not make a movie of this. It would have to be cut way too much; and, as the former owner of a bookstore, I believe the book is always better than the movie.

Summary: Star Trek at it's best
Review: A real page turner. Enjoyed every word. I have a special love for stories involving alternate universes mingling with ours. The only criticism is the obvious lead into a sequel. I can't wait

Summary: Bravo Mr. Shatner, one of the best Star Trek books yet!
Review: I have to say that this is by far, one of the best Star Trek books I have read. I was not able to put this book down. I hope that Rick Berman gives serious consideration to making this into a movie because it would be great to see Mr. Shatner on the big screen again. Perhaps he could have made Picard a little more creative, but if I wrote a book in which I had played the main character, I suppose I would have made my character appear as dashing and brilliant as I could. And as far as the complaint that this book was not given a final ending, why would we want Star Trek to EVER end, I personally love that feeling of anticipation waiting for the next book to come out.

Summary: He's Done it Again!!!
Review: Shatner has written yet another wonderful Star Trek book! Spectre was all that I had looked forward to and so much more. I am a big Voyager fan so this just went so way over the top. The mirror universe characters are so like this one I believed that Paris was our Paris!! The one thing that I really liked in this bokk a lot was Teilani. She is a great match for Kirk and I hope to see them get married in the nex book. Now as all books there is one thing that is wrong. In this case it is the ending. . . or should I say no ending?!?!?! Once again Shatner leaves us on edge to wait another 10 months for his next book .. Sure hope he can write fast!

Summary: Shatner does Kirk best!
Review: I thought that this book was very exciting. I strongly recommend this for all TREK fans. It is too bad that we will have to wait several months to get the concluison that goes with this cliffhanger. Shatner tells an intriguing story and maintains suspence!

Summary: A bit of a letdown.
Review: If you've seen the last couple of years of DS9, a lot of this novel is going to feel really, really familiar. Not that I didn't like the basic premise of the mirror universe characters coming over to ours using their own version of Voyager. But, let's face it, DS9 has done the whole high-ranking officials have been replaced by imposters better. I never really bought into the basic premise of the novel and that fact that it all builds up to a massive cliffhanger to what will (hopefully) be the last of the series is also upsetting. After enjoying Ashes of Eden and the Return, I was expected more. But I wasn't rewarded.

Summary: spectre:to be continued?
Review: Oh how I hate "to be continued" scenarios when the next book in the series is many months away. Praise and a warning: Terrific premise and great story line - BUT there is no ending! Sure, some story lines are resolved - but to get the real ending you have to wait for the next book and I'm sure everybody knows how often hardcovers come out. The book was so good I read it in one day - and so frustrating at the end that I wanted to throw it across the room. Hurry up with the sequel!

Summary: Star Trek Spectre was a terrific story!
Review: William Shatner's newest novel chronicles the adventures of Captain James T. Kirk now in the 24th century. Once again the civilization of the galaxy threatens to be destroyed by evil forces. Now Kirk, along with Spock, McCoy, and Scotty, must work together with the crew of the Enterprise E to save their universe. This story was a great pleasure to read, as Shatner was able to relate events that occured in all the Star Trek shows past and present, to write an awesome story. I highly recommend that anyone who is a fan of Captain James T. Kirk to read this book!
