Rating: Summary: Love the new magic rules & easy to read format! Review: This book is far superior to 2nd edition rules. A perfect book for the beginner, and a great update for an experienced player. The new layout is user friendly. Plus the updated rules on magic make more sense! My only disapointment is the artwork. More "realistic" artwork would be a nice inclusion. Growth in this area is definately needed. I found The chapeter on character developement much improved also, as they include active, knowledge, and language points, giving more depth to characters. In conclusion, I must say its nice to see FASA attempting to compile more information into fewer sources to make the game more affordable for the younger generation of players. For those of us who have already spent tons of Nuyen on their previous editions and supplements... well Chummer, even Alphaware becomes obsolete. Time for an upgrade! "Chameleon".
Rating: Summary: a rich cyber-punk fantasy wolrd. great book. Review: This is a great book. A rich world full of action, things toblow up, and magic. This book actually made me satrt reading theShadowrun serires of books. Only problem I saw was for gms. you are gonna have to read this book like 4 times to get all the rules in your head, the first couple of time, you'll be reading it just for fun and for get half the rules. The dice system is uniqe( all you need is 6 siders) but every now and then you just want to rool some precentile dice. But aside from those things this book shines in all respects. So get your troll cyber-samuria, your elven-deckers and go raid a corpation!
Rating: Summary: Worthy of William Gibson Review: This is the best RPG available, and on par or better than anything FASA has put out. Do yourself a favor and don't miss out on this one.
Rating: Summary: Shadowrun 3rd Edition Hit the Road!!! Review: This new edition is better than the last ones, is easy to read, learn the rules, the game engine, and has lots of new stuff. New players and experienced ones will find this book very useful. FASA really did a good job with this edition. For the people that don't know what is Shadowrun, let me tell you that is a RPG game where you life in a world of chaos, techonology and magic, where the big companies have the control. You are a Shadowrunner, and you must survive in this new era. You can be a Human or a non Human, like Trolls, Elfs, Goblons, Orcs; also you maybe want to me a Sorcerer who controls the magic, or maybe a Shaman who get the power from a magical totem, or a simple human with cyber implants on his body, as you can see there is a lot of options. Buy Shadowrun 3rd Edition, you are not going to lose you money.
Rating: Summary: Very good, could've been a wee bit better Review: Way back in 1990, I wandered through the bookstore and saw Shadowrun, 1st edition. I got it. It was an enjoyable game, but I never really got to play it until 2nd edition, Freshman year, which was *all* I played in college. So, I have most, if not all, of the sourcebooks, and I consider myself a diehard fan. When I saw the new edition, I had mixed reactions. Some of the good points are that it looks nicer now, and that character creation has been cleaned up and improved...suddenly, metahumans are a lot more common than they used to be. They cleaned up a lot of rules, and rationalized things, which happens when you've got a bunch of supplements for each area out there. Bad things...well, I'm not convinced they've fixed magic quite the way they want to. The skills are kind of odd...I like having the background/knowledge skills, and the extra skill points, but certain decisions are just odd. There's no good reason to have separate skills for shotgun, rifle, and assault rifle, as they work the same. I'd've used something like Millenium's End's way, which has skills for smallarms, longarms, and autofire, and use the lowest of the appropriate skills (i.e. if I'm using a rifle, I use longarm, but if I'm firing a burst, use autofire). All in all, it's a good book. The system had gotten overly sprawling, and this reboot was pretty much necessary to rationalize everything.

Rating: Summary: Probably the most original role-play book ever. Review: Well where to start, its mystery, technology, magic and ethreality all in one. The choice of races, character types, skills and equipment is so extensive but not too complicated. This book is an ideal entry level RPG. With a good GM there are years in this one book alone.
Rating: Summary: Poor layout Review: While the rules are solid and well thought out, the layout of this book is fairly horrible. Important rules are buried within the text, with no mention in the index. Finding a specific rule is very painful and time-consuming.
Rating: Summary: A work of Art Review: Wow! I'm better able to teach people how to play and have them closer to and understanding wiht the new story and historyin the begining. Riggers getting their own section, a great idea. Revamping magic so mages are stronger. Simplified Matrix, same fighting except the new initiative good for mages and death to all the rest of the players, depending on your own point of view. Knowledge skills are great, and the revamped priority system is great. I never have a problem with finding rules and old books aren't obsoleteso buy them on auction for cheaper!
Rating: Summary: Generally grrreat... Review: Yes, I think this game is an absolutely snazzy thing. There are of course a few things they forgot - it's hard to include everything in previous supplements - but rules 'n stuff now actually works! Can be a bit hard to find stuff, though...but who needs to care? I dooo looove the feeling about the settings for this world. The artwork in 3rd is grrreeeaaat. Way to go, FASA! Buy it now!
