Summary: OK for newbies, but hell on experienced players
Review: Although SR3 does provide updates to the SR2 rules in the form of Rigger2 and VR2.0-lite it does have a tendency to wreak havok on existing campaigns. If your a new player, looking to get into Shadowrun, it's all fine and dandy, but fairly major changes to the magic and skills system, don't be expecting to spend a few minutes and update your SR2 char to SR3.

Summary: Shadowrun, 3rd Edition - Much improved
Review: Although such things as hand-to-hand combat mechanics and basic combat rules have stayed the same, many things have changed in the 3rd Edition of Shadowrun, and definitely for the better. For example, physads, who were at a significant disadvantage to street sams, have now had their powers and cost altered to make them more competitive. Many of the dice pools in the game have been re-evaluated, and the magic system has been redesigned in a more logical fashion. Also, the rules for armor and vehicles have been refashioned, and several other fundamental improvements to the core system have been implemented. All in all, the changes in this edition are a vast improvement over some of the flaws present in the second edition (Like physads with six and seven initiative dice, which was possible in 2nd edition). There are still some areas which could do with improvement, but in the end, it's a much more refined and enjoyable game.

Summary: El mejor libro de FASA
Review: Esta tercera edicion da de verdad una nueva vision al mejor juego de Rol de todos los tiempos... ShadowRun !

Summary: Not perfect, but much better
Review: First off, the setting has been revised and updated, and organized in a much nicer presentation(the index is more organized as well). Next off, the fiction story to introduce new players to the pretty schizo genre is much better than the previous ones.Overall the book does a good job of immersing an individual in the setting without simply throwing terms around without explanation. The absence of a map, critters, and contacts section is felt, but considering the sheer bulk of the rules included and the quality of the presntation, it's likely to be small qualm at best. initiative has been made more fair, and magic now works like the rest of the game system, while maintaining a unique feel. Much of the gear seems very skimpy, but considering that most of the SR players I know of already own all the perfectly compatible SR and SR2 books, that hardly seems like a drawback. Overall, a strong product.

Cool setting. everyone loves cyberpunk do they not? lol. anywayz, this book makes it pretty easy to learn. the first couple of times u play just skip half the rules and add as you play more. its the best way to go. Summary: Go ahead, make my day
Review: Hoi, Capt'n Chaos, FastJack, Hatchetman, Mr. Bandit, here is the BadHomeBoy again. I have to recommend this book, since it is the newest and also, in my oppinion, best version of the Shadowrun main book. Ever since magic came back to the world, and especially after Dunkelzahn was assassinated (which gave us runnerz a hell of a lot of well-payed work), the rules had to be expanded, revised, rewritten, and when they came out, HEY, everything had already moved on. This book provides a solid base, you can almost instantly start to play. Nevertheless, I also have to tell you wannabee sam's out there : Buy the Shadowtech and Sam's Catalogue, too. -BadHomeBoy(Catch me!/02-01-61)

Summary: Somthing's missing
Review: I can only agree with all the other reviews, but what I'd like to mention is the gear section. Inclusion of Alpha-ware is a nice thing, but were is all the advanced equipment from the old sourcebooks? Is that not to overwhelm beginners or just to make a few more bucks with additional sourcebooks? I liked the old layout of the list better, it was more funtional and not fancy and unsorted like the new one. Also the advanced combatrules from "Fields of fire" could have been included (two handed fighting). And where is the big connections list? I like the new player-charachters in the book, they give more room for rp, rather than for senseless firefights.

Summary: DARK! What more can I say?
Review: I have been into Shadowrun for about 3 years now, the latest version is by far the best. You gett he feeling that someone is travelling in time to the time of the Runners and bring back a future history for us, it is so well written. There is everything a Runner could want or need to know. If you are interested in a future RPG, check this one out. Who knows, the Mayans may be write. We will have to wait and see. Not long now, 2012 I believe. Shadowrun may prove to be a future history after all......

Summary: By far the most in-depth role-playing game ever.
Review: I have never played a more in-depth, versatile, and enjoyable role-playing game. Become a member of a segment of society known as shadowrunners, and work the other side of the law. The futuristic time line, and cautionary theme of megacorporations is extremely relevant to the here and now. The mixture of magic and technology is a theme that has not been developed so well. The thoughts and prejudices of this world really show how the more things change the more they stay the same.

Summary: Convoluted Rules/ over complicated
Review: I liked the idea of shadowrun very much, and once I learned how to play I enjoyed the simple runs that we had; however, the advanced aspects of shadowrun (e.g. magic, decking, rigging and vehicles, etc.) had very complicated and convoluted rules. First off, the magic section makes very little sense with regards to the drain and mana system, and the aspected magician isn't explained at all. Secondly, the Matrix uses overcomplicated rules for even simple tasks. The technical jargon used was quite confusing. Another nuisance was the shotty binding (mine plus two other books are falling apart). I reccomend waiting for the next edition to come out because of these reasons. The game is fun, just not very clear.
