Rating: Summary: A bit slow Review: This book was really slow to begin with! It was quite boring, but got a lot better towards the end. The storyline is quite good, but it's a bit like the episode 'Infinite Regress'. But, stick with it, and it's an excellent book!
Rating: Summary: Quick Read, Great Book Review: This book was so wonderful. This is a great read even for those who are not Seven fans. The storyline was compelling, this is simply a "cannot put down" book... Get this book, it is fantastic ! ! !
Rating: Summary: Fan-fic quality writing, Poorly executed story Review: This is one of the great disappointments of the Voyager novel series. Ms. Golden now has the honor of writing 3 novels for Voyager. Her previous efforts, the Murdered Sun and Marooned each showcased a somewhat unpolished writing style, but at least had somewhat interesting stories. This was just another "watch seven of nine do her thing" story, and a poorly told one at that. I like Seven of Nine as a character. But not even a book with her as the heroine should have ignored the other characters so much. Harry is relegated to a minor mention (he was the longsuffering friend). Tom Paris is a caricature of himself. Even Janeway is simply a device in this author's hands. Oddly, it seems that she has tried to inject some emotion into the story by giving us Annika's inner thoughts...however, instead of genuine insight into the character, we get melodrama. Oh, and there is a plot. Sort of. I love Voyager novels. Echoes is an example of precisely how interesting and fun a star trek novel can be. Seven of Nine is an example of how trite it can be. This novel is only for the true afficionados of Voyager. Avoid it otherwise.
Rating: Summary: A good Trek novel....even for a Star Wars fan Review: Unlike most of the Voyager novels, I didn't rush right out and buy this book the day it was released. Contrary to the norm, I am not much of a Seven of Nine fan. I like Jeri Ryan very much, but I just felt the character was drastically over used, and frankly, I was tired of her. But, I am a devoted Christie Golden fan, and am unable to resist anything written by her.As usual, she did not disappoint. This book is without a doubt about Seven of Nine, but Ms. Golden wrote it in a wonderfully creative manner that included all the characters. She has a knack for capturing the essence of the Voyager characters that makes her writing a sheer delight to read. The same is true of this book. The story is engaging, the aliens are creepy, and Seven is interesting and very, very likable. Those are words I do not say easily, believe me. This is a terrific book! Even if you aren't part of the masses that think Seven is the best thing since peanut butter, you'll enjoy this story.
Rating: Summary: A most pleasant surprise. Review: Unlike most of the Voyager novels, I didn't rush right out and buy this book the day it was released. Rating: Summary: Finally a look into what makes up Seven of Nine e Review: We, as readers finally get to see a darker side to the once drone of the Borg collective, who is now the newest member of the U.S.S Voyager crew. Seven of Nine. This book I have found is in the same callibur as is Spocks World .
Rating: Summary: Buy this book!!!! Review: When I first learned that Jeri Ryan was going to replace Jennifer Lien on Voyager, it was all I could do to keep from rolling my eyes. Star Trek: Babewatch. Yeah, right. Whatever. And then, I see Jeri Ryan act. But that's not the best part. The best thing, or at least the most interesting thing, is seeing each author's approach to each character we've come to know and love. In this case, Ms. Golden has done a spot-on analysis of Seven of Nine. This is fantastic stuff. Christie Golden is to Voyager what Peter David is to TNG. Please favor us with another novel in the near, near future.
Rating: Summary: A Unique View on a Unique character Review: When I first saw the title, I was concerned it would be a replica of the Season Four episode "Raven". However, I was delighted to find it was a fascinating story with a unique viewpoint on a great character. It helped to create sides to Seven of Nine that hadn't been seen before and helped to form a template for future stories and episodes.
Rating: Summary: An extremely well done Voyager book! Review: When Seven of Nine (Jeri Ryan) joined the cast of Voyager I thought she was a great addition to the show. Not unlike other people though, I felt she was way over used to the detriment of the other characters and their development. So it was with this trepidation that I approached this book. However, knowing the quality of Christie Golden's past works I jumped right into the book. What a wonderful surprise, Seven on Nine is an absolutely brilliant book with a great plot line and really good villains. In my opinion, past trek books with insectoid species were not done very well. In this the author uses an insectoid species and does it very well. Without giving too much away, let's just say that Seven of Nine is an absolutely great story that is hard to put down. If you've not read it yet, you need to. Unfortunately it appears to be out of publication already. It's definitely worth a little extra money to order this one through [other sources]! Thank you to the author for this one.
Rating: Summary: Best book I've ever read! Review: Wonderful plot, Wonderful Author, and overall, Seven of Nin
