Summary: Homeland is a great book
Review: I'm in seventh grade and I'm posting a review about Homeland for a book report. Homeland is a great book by R.A. Salvatore, one of my favorite authors. It is a compelling novel about a Drow Elf named Drizzt. I liked how it showed good versus evil but in an original way, and how detailed and exciting the fights were. The one thing I liked best is reading more about Drow Elves who are the best fantasy race in my opinion. I would reccomend this book to anyone who likes an exciting storyline and interesting fights.

Summary: ...the genuinely good one...
Review: RA Salvatore is very prolific, and this book is certainly the best of the Drizzt books that I read. The setting and story are innovative and compelling, and the characters crafted and interesting. A book I could not put down. However, buyer beware...after reading this first book, you will want to continue with the others. The rest of this trilogy is good, though not up to the standard of the first work. Beyond that point, the Drizzt books become formulaic and uninteresting. You will get your D&D monsters and sword swinging, but not much more...

Summary: If there was six stars to rate, I would do it.
Review: The mystery of the dark elves could not of been uncovered better by any other writer. Props to whoever at TSR gave Salvatore the duty to give life to the dark denizens beneath the surface of Toril. The intrigue and evil of the Drow society is brought to life by Salvatore in a manner that makes fuedal Japan look like the Truman Show. Also, the book brings to the literary world one its greatest dramatic characters since Othello and the Karamozov brothers...Drizzt. Enough said.

Summary: this book is just a stepping block
Review: this book it a must. homeland is the beginning of a great quest and the first trial in wich drizzt has to overcome it will take you to see how he becomes a weapon master and a few books latter learns how to look at his burdun hes been caring from the place he could never call home and will soon become a drow elf/Ranger and then the fun and excitement will really begin Please stay with him at the end of the triogy he will finely find a home and new friends and excellent adventers

Summary: I don't think its worth the time.
Review: I've heard that one ought to give a book thrity pages before putting it down. Well, I only got 15 pages into HOMELAND and decided it wasn't worth the time. If you are a D&D fan and like these kind of books, then listen to all those who liked it. However, if you are science fiction and fantasy fan -- by which I mean you've read more than Hickman & Weis and Tolkien -- then don't waste your time. I'm sure there's a really good book out there that you haven't read yet and this isn't the one.

Summary: Drizzt is the Man
Review: This is the best book ever. I never even read before I got this book. Now I read every book with Drizzt I can find. If you like good hardcore fighting this is the book for you.

Review: I usually hate reading. But several people advised me to read this book and I did. My standards for novels will never be the same again. Never could I imagine that a book can have exciting action sequences, deep characters, and such an intricate plot, fast-paced plot! It's flawless! Perfect! READ IT! DRIZZT IS THE BEST!

Summary: The Book That sets your boundaries for forgotten realms
Review: WOW =o This book was the first book i ever read about Salvatore and i must tell u it is a must to read if u ever dip into TSR. It sets the stage for a small drow community and from there it shows a the life of a renagade Drizzt Do'Urden who forsakes the life of the drow and loth ( Lloth to some). I find that all books a Salvatore lead into each other very nicely, form Homeland to Exile and Exile to Sojourn. The book i highly recommend! ;-)

Summary: Once you begin... you'll never want to stop
Review: Homeland is one of the very best books I have ever read. I had never read fantasy adventure books before and now I know I will nevr be able to stop. I was so enchanted by Salvatore's character Drizzt that I feel compeled to read all the other books in the series. The book is an excellent story of the inner turmoils one can face and of the battles of everyday life in an evil society. It all gives those in an impossible situation a sign of hope. I would highly reccomend this book to anyone who can read. Even if you don't like fantasy books after, reading Homeland I'm almost positive that you, like me, will be mesmorized by the thought and creativity put into the book.

Summary: The beginning of an excellent saga....
Review: "Homeland" is one of the most excellent novels I've ever read. I read it for the first time 9 years ago and I've not come across another novel yet that has touched me in the manner this book has. The novel, about the childhood and past of one of the Forgotten Realms' most beloved characters, Drizzt Do'Urden, is a novel of intense passion, of intense inner turmoil, of intense character. It's a prequel to the The Icewind Dale Trilogy and explains why Drizzt is the way he is - stoic and burdened yet content and happy with his life. The storyline and plot are solid and phenomenally detailed as is the character development. The descriptions of the settings, the characters, the battles, the _emotions_ create a novel that is gripping and exciting, while at the same time conveying a feeling of reflection and self-examination. Through his use of amazing detail, Mr. Salvatore allows the reader to feel Drizzt's pains, his triumphs, and his insatiable search for something good in his life. This is a complete novel; all aspects work well together and create a timeless Forgotten Realms story that is enjoyable on many levels. I highly recommend this book and consider it Mr. Salvatore's best novel.
