Summary: A excellent novel with a twist from the usual
Review: run of the mill fantasy novels. It's too bad critics of Salvatore's excellent work cannot present their criticism in a more mature manner as done below and also even more sarcastic reviews on Salvatore's other excellent works.

Rating: 3 stars
Summary: It was satisfying.... not the best but not the worst.
Review: On the advice on a friend who adores R A Salvatore, I picked up this book. (in return, she's reading Robert Jordan, my favorite) As always, I read through my new book in about two days. It was oddly compelling. The characters weren't the richest, but they were far from flat. The ending made me want to read the next book, and I felt RA's villians were nicely complex and interesting. (espescially the Faceless One) So.... if you want something midly interesting, and with a strange force that compells you to turn the page one mroe time before turning out the light to go to sleep, pick it up.

Summary: Salvatore strikes again
Review: ...And so, Mr. Salvatore strikes back with, I think, one of the best stories I've ever read. It begins in the city of Menzoberranzan, Drizzt Do'Urden is born to an evil family on the night of a drow raid. Young Drizzt must survive society and overcome the clutches of his evil mother, Malice Do'Urden. An excelent book that I would recomend to all fantasy readers...

Summary: dear me, what garbage...
Review: I've been an avid fantasy reader for over twenty years, and have read the very best and the very worst. About ten years ago or so, these D&D books began to pile up on the bookstore shelves, beginning with Dragonlance and now bolstered by Forgotten Realms. I did my best to avoid them, seeing them for what they were - utter trash on the same level as dime-store romance novels. Well, a friend had been pushing (and pushing and pushing) me to read some of Salvatore'w work, saying that it was excellent, and not at all bad like the other drivel out there.

Ummmm........no.

Utter and complete crap. Sure, I suppose if I was 13 and didn't know any better I would think that this was worth the time it takes to read it, but I'm not 13 and I do know better. I'll pass.

Summary: I liked it!!!
Review: Now I read this book when I was 12, and I thought that it was the coolest book. Then I read it at 16, thought it was awesome. Then after taking an A. P. English class, I read it when I was 18, after graduation. It was ruined. It is highly unlikely for a person (elf) come out of society like he did, and still be an upstanding citizen. But still a good book!

Summary: Best Drizzt Do'Urden book ever written.
Review: I think this is Salvatore's best book, which he has ever made. It pictures Drizzt's values of life and fight against his drow heritage. Also Salvatore has been able to show perfectly how the drow live and their ways. No book that I have read, pictures so perfectly the ways of the drow. Keep up the good work Salvatore :)

Summary: The BEST!!!
Review: This is probably the best book that I have ever read!! The story of how Drizzt came to reject the principles of the drow society is masterfully written by Mr. Salvatore. Great battle scenes (as always...=) and excellent detail in describing the thoughts and events that led Drizzt to the decision. My favorite of all of RAS's books. A must read!!!

Summary: The book that started it all
Review: I read this book because I like good people who were evil or are steriotyped as being evil. I started reading this book and all i wanted to do was keep reading. Drizzt quickly became my fav character i've read about. I felt for his character having to deal with his brotheren and live a crule life he was forced to live but deep down he knew it wasn't right. This book started my love for reading and of Drizzt. This book leads a way in the story of his life and the wonderful friends and evil beings he encounters in the underdark but also under the stars.
