Summary: Excellent
Review: The crysal shard is a powerful relic which as extremely evil power that it shares with it's possesor. A stooge wizard who wishes he were powerful gets a hold of it and wreaks havoc on ten-towns. Drizzt, Regis, Bruenor, Cattie-brie, and Wulfger come together to save Ice Wind Dale
R.A. Salvatore has created an awesome group of characters. All different in race with weaknesses and strengths that compliment eachother. If you like a book with lots of imagination, action, and intrigue than the crystal shard and the rest of it's trilogy are for you. The good characters are so good and the villians are so evil.

Review: My friends, it is said by some people that this is one of the greatest fantasy/adventure buys one could buy. I agree with every word. nobody could possibly ask for more adventures from this book, or the icewind trilogy for that matter. But the characters mature too fast, the book begins with 3 war vetrans taking on entire armis single handedly. One would expect this book to be the last in a series, not the first. Dont get this wrong, i fully enjoyed this book, and i have no doubt in my mind that you will enjoy every paragraph, but i cannot see this series continuing for the next 8 books. (or however many precede this) Yet it is still in my top 5 favorites for the stunning battle scenes and origonal ideas.

Summary: Great Book: Adventure, Fighting, Mysterious Villains.
Review: I don't feel like writing a long review, so the title will have to say it all. I know its not too helpful, but its my outlook.

Summary: AWESOME
Review: This book is by far the best book I have read, infact the first book I have ever really gotten in to. Even though I am reading it for school, I read it as much as possible. I think I will continue with the series from the next following books of The Crystal Shard. Streams of Silver will be the following book to continue this one. I think that anyone into D&D or anyone that has played Baldur's Gate, (because Drizzt the main char of the book is in it =) Should DEFINATLY read this book, The battles and fights in this book are great and it keeps you constantly on the edge of wondering what will happen next! This is a great book to anyone over the age of 15 I think because you do need some good Vocab skills to understand alot of it. If you don't you may find yourself lost often wondering what happened. The Story behind the book that makes it so interesting is the Main Protagonist, Drizzt Do'Urden. He is a Renegade Dark Elf from Menzoberranzan, the dark elf caverns, that chooses to live a different life style than his blood thirsty cold-hearted kin. Many people don't like him, because of his Reputation, and would want to try and kill Drizzt at any cost. But the people who do like him are his greatest and best friends that would do anything to be side with Drizzt. Bruenor, the only living relative of Mithril hall the ancient dwarven city, is Drizzt's closest friend. Gruff as Bruenor is he would sacrifice his own life to save Drizzt, and Drizzt would sacrifice his life for Bruenor's. Bruenor later in the book saves a boy's life from certain death in a big battle between barbarians and in return of saving his life the boy has to serve under Bruenor for 5 years, you must read the book to find out more, may sound boring but its hard to explain.

Summary: Is Salvatore the Mark McGwire of authors?
Review: Is Salvatore the Mark McGwire of authors?....Maybe. All I know is everytime I turn around I just finished another of his books, and everyone of them un-freakin-believably great.

The first book of another fantastic series. And many thanks for Drizzt also starring in this new series, A warm familiar face in all of these bright new characters.

Favorire character for this book...Wulfgar. He is a little rough on the edges but an incredably strong character ( not as in his muscles ). Maybe Wulfgar needs his own little series, or is this his series? Only time will tell.

Mr.Salvatore if your ever in my neck of the woods and hungry, just give me a yell, for surley you have deserved a steak dinner for this book lol.

Summary: An Amazing Beginning!
Review: A true worthwhile read for all fans of the the Drow Elf Drizzt Du' Urden. This book begins the adventures of the Companions from the Spine of the World. While at points the characters seem to be behaving inconsistently with their later incarnations, I believe that all in all, the book is a great way to start the whole saga of the Dark Elf, and his adventures above menzzoberranzan( I think that's how it is spelled) as well as his future adventures in the search for Mithrill Hall and his Eventual return (although brief) to his Dark Homeland.

Summary: The Crystal Shard
Review: I think this is the best book ever written.I can usually find a flaw in anything ever written or put on on film. By "flaw", I mean something that doesn't make sense or didn't that didnt really belong in a story. I couldnt find one thig wrong with The Crystal Shard. I think the best part of the book was when Drizzt Do'urden banished the demon, Errtu to another plane of existence for 100 years. You just know that when Errtu comes back he is going to want Drizzt's head,so it gives you a great sense of suspence. I don't recommend this book to new readers because there are lots of people and high ranks that even I had trouble keeping up with. I am currently reading The Halflings Gem,the third book in the Icewind dale trilogy and I still think The Crystal Shard was Salvatore's greatest success ever. Why Salvatore and his great series arent more popular than theey currently are is a mystery to me.

Summary: One of the best books I've ever read.
Review: Out of all the books I've read, I think The Crystal Shard goes up in the top ten with The Hobbit and a few of the Incarnations of Immortality books. I don't no why I read this in the first place, but i'm d*** glad I did! There is action left and right, but not so much that it gets monotnous. And whoever said that the writing is childish, and that it was bad when they killed about twenty enimies a piece, REALITY CHECK, twenty a-piece was about how many each of them killed TOTAL! In a battle, they each could kill about six! Whoever wrote that bad review, DON'T LISTEN TO HIM! I DON'T KNOW WHAT'S GOING ON IN THAT BRAIN, BUT IT'S WRONG!

Summary: The First Book in an Excellent Series
Review: I just got finished reading this book for the second time. The first time I read it was when I just began reading fantasy novels many years ago. I didn't enjoy it as much this time through, but I still found it entertaining. For those who have read the Dragonlance chronicles or the Lord of the Rings, you may feel that this book falls short of those fantastic trilogies. However, I would say there is a reason that Salvatore has written so many novels in the Drizzit series. It is not because all of his readers are stupid. The reason his books sell is that his books are fun to read. The Crystal Shard is a fast paced book with a lot of good ideas and an interesting premise. I will be the first to say that Salvatore's writing in The Crystal Shard is not up there with the quality of J.R.R Tolkien, but the novel still draws you in and makes you continue reading because you want to find out what is going to happen. If you are going to read fantasy novels of this type you unfortunately will have to get used to superheroes that are impossible to kill. This is true of Drizzit, Bruenor, and Wulfgar. But if Salvatore killed them off in the first couple of books there would not be this long running series that we have now. For those who say the character development in this book is poor...I think you are right to some degree, but read the Dark Elf Trilogy and you will see that Salvatore is a really good author. For those of you who like to read fun light-hearted books please read this book you will like it and the rest of the series.

Summary: Over rated
Review: In my opinion a good aurthor works in two ways: what he writes, and how he writes it. Salvatore has good ideas but his style of writting is simply too childish. His characters are realistic until they get into battle, where they are able to kill twenty enemies a piece!! (completely over the top, even for fantasy.)
