Rating: Summary: This book got me hooked! Review: Up until this summer I was a sports finatic and not a reader. Well I'm still a fanatic, but now I love reading! I started the second novel in the series last night, and it is just as good as the first. R.A.Salvatore is amazing at describing battles and his stories keep me hooked until I literally cannot keep my eyes open! I loved the book and I can't wait till i start the third!
Rating: Summary: GREAT BOOK! A MUST GET FOR ALL Review: This is an epic adventure with a set of greatly admirable characters. Anyone, from a fantasy book lover to a first-time fantasy reader will be enthralled in this timeless adventure.
Rating: Summary: Probably THE best book to hook people onto fantasy reading Review: This is where it all started for RA Salvatore and his awsome characters of Drizzt, Bruennor, and Wulfgar. This book and its characters draws you in like no other and you just can not put it down. The entire trilogy is right up there with the classic Lord of the Rings-only this is easier to read and even more vivid.
Rating: Summary: This book changed my life Review: At a very dark time in my life I picked up this book on a whim ... needless to say it changed my life. Salvatore's grasp on the human spirit is amazing! I literally HAD TROUBLE putting the book down! The pace is perfect, the characters CLASSIC. I cried during certain parts. Salvatore and I share the philosophy that Good triumphs over evil, and it is evident in his masterful story telling. If I could recommend only ONE book, THIS IS IT. READ THE CRYSTAL SHARD. It is the beginning of something that will stand the test of time, something truly great.
Rating: Summary: Drizzit rules! Review: I had read many fantasy novels before Crystal Shard; but this book captured my heart like no other. It is brilliant book that just captures the reader and reels them in for the ride of their life and not only that the ride continues for 9 more books. So not only do you get to see the characters develop in one book you get see them devlop over a long period. Long live Drizzit!
Rating: Summary: A timeless tale. Review: This book is the catalyst for all my writing. Mr. Salvatore has rendered a world that is fully well thought out. The characters he generates are warm, meaningful, and filled with passion--and the values they possess make the Crystal Shard timeless. R.A. Salvatore is unlike most of his contemporaries in the Fantasy genre, in that he has mastered the portrayal of human emotions, and not just visual landscaping. I am convinced his writing is an elevation above that which we have seen from Eddings, Brooks, and the mainstay of fantasy writers. His books are so generally charming, so satisfying by story's-end, that I cannot help but to think of him more in the vein of Tolkien or Lewis. The Crystal Shard stands as a shinning example of art. It is genuinely heartfelt and imaginative.
Rating: Summary: Brilliant Book! One of Many in the same series!!! Review: This is a fantastic book, which begins this series after the Dark Elf trilogy (another fantastic series by the same author). After reading this book in two days I went on over the next year or so to purchase the two trilogy's then as each book came out I purchased them. You could say I was addicted. They are up there with the best books I have EVER read, R A Salvatore is easily one of the worlds greatest authors. And Drizzt Do'Urden is the best! In the latest novels his friends have also played a big part, especially young Cattabrie and Wulfgar. Can't wait for Silent Blade, keep it up Bob Salvatore!
Rating: Summary: A great book Review: I was looking for an AD&D book to read and found this...within a year I had all 9 books in the series. Reading this book may be hazardous to your health as you'll be desperate to read the rest.
Rating: Summary: how does he do it? Review: "The Crystal Shard" was the first book I read of Forgotten Realms and it won't be the last! I enjoyed this book very much because it kept my mind wondering what would happen next?would It be good for the people of Ten-towns or terrable for Dizzert and his friends. If you are intrested in adventure and books that keep your mind going than I STRONGLY suggest this one (again and again...)
Rating: Summary: ...another review, but gives the book more credit. Review: I started with this book, before the 3 book Dark Elf series. So enthralled was I, that after devouring the next two,(Streams Of Silver, The Halfling's Gem), I then proceeded on too The Legacy, Starless Night, and Seige of Darkness. Then, back to the Dark Elf Trilogy,(Homeland, Exile, Sourjourn). Out of all of them, the Icewind Dale trilogy, which this book is the beginning, is definately another must read.
