Summary: Absolutey riveting
Review: I couldn't put it down. I wouldn't recommend it to a first time reader. I love the way it bounces back and forth to keep me on my toes. The layout reminds me a lot of the book, Cormyr, in the way it moves back and forth. I really enjoyed finally understanding the character of Alustriel. The ending left me hanging for a sequel. I can't wait for the story to continue!

Summary: slightly confusing and elves seem too perfect
Review: I did not like the book, even so I think it is not bad. It is just that I do not like how the elves are portrayed here. They are just too perfect. They are all beautiful, starting with the first one and ending with the last introduced elven hero or heroine. They are all very apt at their chosen profession (I did not want to say 'perfect' again) and although some of the more important characters die during the many different scenes, they just move on to elven paradise and endless happines. I found it rather boring, reading so much pages about perfect elven half-gods who never are really threatened since their perfection always saves them in the end, which you can predict very soon. If you are an elven fan, read it, if not try it and if you always wanted to see an elf with a simple dripping nose or a wart, a spot or some other aspect marring absolute perfection read something else (but I think you have to write your own stories then...).

Summary: spectacular for veteran readers. . .
Review: I found this book very rewarding for a number of reasons: mostly because if you come across a set of characters you do not like, a few chapters later you will be reading about their grand-children. Still, it was well written and it did what I believe the author set-out to do: display a history of elves to show their differences (and similarities the elves wish they did not have) to humans in a cohensive story. My only complaint would have to be the simplicity of the ending. Save that I would dare to say this book is perfect.

Summary: SUCH A GREAT BOOK!
Review: i loved this book. It was the classic fantasy, full of magic and mystery. I could not put it down! i have read it 4 times, and its soo good, that i hide it so i can forget it, so i can read it again. This book has it all. Elaine cunnigham is a great author, and the book is wonderfully written. The characters are also well made, and easy to understand. I loved this book, and i hope you do to , its a super must read! youll be sad when its over , and will wish for a sequel!

Summary: Good book with problems that were not the author's fault
Review: I really enjoyed the novel, particulary the multiple plots running concurrently. At times, the elves seemed, as one reviewer put it, too perfect. I agree, but on a certain level that "perfection" added to the story of how the elves devolved. My main complaint is with the printer. There were numerous typos, the worst of which was the use of a wrong word to start a chapter. Not only did I have to reread the sentence several times, but the initial letter of the incorrect word was illuminated. If not for the printer's errors, this book would have scored higher.

Summary: Interesting
Review: I think this book would have meant a lot more to me if I had read others in the group first. This was the first one I read and I didn't really get it. I got the "plot" but I didn't really see the point. I did, however, enjoy the book once I started to understand it and think that if you read the other ones it would be pretty good. You don't really get to meet the characters and it jumps around a lot. You do get to see how everything comes together in the history and how things happened. It's a well writien book and I'd recomend it to anyone who's interested in elven history.

Summary: Great read, but confusing
Review: I'm not a fan of Elaine Cunningham, but I've read most of her Forgotten Realms books. Somehow, her writing style confuses me easily. This book is no exception, as the stories seem to leap back and forth in time. I'm a casual reader of FR, and certainly did not want to pay too much attention to the chronological order of the stories. This gripe aside, this book is the best work by Elaine. The stories are gripping, and gives alot of information about elven lore in Evermeet. It is one of the best FR books I've read. Highly recommended!

Summary: Is she out of good ideas?
Review: Im a little concerned, both this book and R.A. Salvatore's new book are lacking. I don't know if they are suffering from burn-out or what, but their writing is suffering. Don't get your hopes up for a Lieriel Baenre or Danillo Thann like character, because they are not there. Very grim for a book about the "frivilous" elves.

Summary: The Finest Novel in the Forgotten Realms Collection
Review: Oh my God! This book is TRULY one of the greatest works of Fantasy literature ever printed! Bravo, Mrs. Cunningham, on your Magnum Opus!
