Summary: I love this book!!
Review: "I'm so vulnerable to her...all she has to do is smile atme and I'm happy beyond reason. A minor disagreement between us andI'm devasted...it's absurd! Sometimes I wish I could reach inside myself and tear out my feelings for her. But I can't" Odo to female shapeshifter, on Kira. I'm a hopeless romantic, and I was thrilled when I found that quote! Its my favorite! But it was hard to choose a favorite because the whole book is great. Some of the quotes can remind of the show, or even of your own life. You don't have to like Star Trek to enjoy it (though it helps).

Summary: Words Of (Trek) Wisdom
Review: At first glance, putting together a book of the best quotes from the Star Trek universe, may seem like a rather simple task. However, when one stops to consider the number of episodes, produced for each series, and 9 feature films, easy just got a bit tough. Compiler Jill Sherwin does a great job with this book. She does not take the easy way out and divide the quotes up by series and or film. as one might expect. Rather, Sherwin takes an ideal or subject that the franchise has tackled over the years, and broken them down in that way, regardless of which incarnation it came from. For example there is a chapter devoted to "Human Nature" as seen through the years on Star Trek. The book is a fun trip down memory lane, if you are a die hard Trek fan, because most fans have their favorites, if you are more of a casual observer of this universe, the book will serve you well if you want to learn more. All others may wish to steer clear, unless, you wish to come along anyway... It's a painless trip and can be lots of fun for all. My only gripe would have to be that the book needs to be updated with a second edition. After all, it has been over three years, since this volume appeared. Since then,Voyager and DS9 have ended their series runs, and a few of the latter films need better representation. Aside from the need for an update, this a fine book with lots to enjoy. The book has a black and white photo to begin each of its 32 chapters. There are 384 pages (including the introduction by Sherwin and the index). Recommended

Summary: Quotable Star Trek
Review: I very much enjoyed this book. The author has sifted through 32 years of Star Trek history, and found the most memorable, and touching words contained therein. The book even included a quote that was never mentioned in all of Star Trek, "Beam me up Scotty." I also like the way the author divided the book into different chapters, defining what Star Trek is, and what it has been. I look forward to some kind of sequel.

Summary: Relive the best moments, through the the best lines....
Review: If you ever sat there and said, "Wow! That is so true. I wish I said that!" Now you can. Relive some of the most "Mind Opening" moments in the world of STAR TREK. By reading the same words and lines, that kept Trek going for over 30years! Broken down by topic, you can easly find the quote to fit your mood or upcoming speech. Or just to put a smile on your face.... "Even in the darkest moments, you can always find something that'll make you smile." (DS9/"In the Cards") I feel, this books will do just that. I'm keeping my copy at work... for up coming speeches and a much needed laugh. "The more complex the mind, the greater the need for the simplicity of play." (TOS/"Shore Leave")

Summary: "...Good Words. That's where ideas begin."
Review: QUOTABLE STAR TREK is a new reference trade paperback containing close to two-thousand quotations from every Star Trek series and the first eight feature films. Compiled by Jill Sherwin, a former assistant to the producers of Star Trek: Deep Space Nine, the book is divided into 32 topical chapters, including "The Human Condition," "Theology," Politics," "Humor," "Family," "Leadership," and many more. For added convenience, it's also indexed by character and by episode/movie.

No lie here, this book is a genuine treasure trove of wisdom and witicisms, memorable moments and thought-provoking dialogue. Add to that an elegant cover and interior design, as well as striking black & white photos to kick off each chapter, and you've got not only an entertaining read, but a vital Star Trek resource you'll find yourself returning to again and again.

Summary: It makes us think...
Review: The back of this book is correct: "It makes us laugh, it makes us smile, but most of all, it makes us think". Star Trek was and still is a phenomenon that does not die. And the most important aspect of it was the message it got accross, what was being said. This book puts together all the best quotes, plus ones that I never really thought about until I saw them in here. Sometimes when I watched the shows I never really realized the subtle importance of a line of dialogue. When I read this, it showed me. Most of the book can be picked up and read by anyone, but the last three chapters or so are for the fans. Especially the one that is called "For the Fans". I constantly pick up this book, open to any random page, and start reading. I suggest this to any fan, and to anyone who likes to think. It is truly great. And, like it says, "The Human Adventure is Just Beginning" (text superimposed at the end of The Motion Picture).

Summary: An absolutely wonderful book
Review: This book is a treasure. Something to be sampled in small doses, to stretch out the experience. Another reviewer was right -- the quotes live up to the blurb on the back. Jill Sherwin did a great job. This is an absolute must-have, or at least must-read. P.S. The pictures are pretty good, too.

Summary: Reliving the series' best moments
Review: This is a book for a quiet moment in the shade under a tree, or for reading outloud to others that are well versed in Star Trek as well. Picking bits and pieces (why start at the beginning, just open it somewhere in the middle and see where it takes you) I relived scenes, and refreshed my memory. Sometimes I went inside to review some tapes that I was reminded of by the book.

If your not very familiar with Star Trek this book is not the best way to begin. Some of the quotes are spiced by the scenes they were in. They loose flavour taken out of context, especially if you're not familiar with the context at all. But if you, like me, can hair the voices, this book has some gems to offer. I'll just quote one, OK? Garak and O'Brien in DS9/Empok Nor

"Well it's just that lately, I've noticed everybody seems to ... trust me. It's quite unnerving. I'm still trying to get used to it. Next thing I know, people are going to be inviting me to their homes for dinner." - - - - - - "Well if it makes you feel better, I promise I will never have you over." - - - - - - "I appreciate that, Chief"

Just one thing: please, please, write an update with more Voyager

Summary: Great Books. Good For Essays.
Review: This is a really great book. There is a wide range of quotes. Some are funny while other are thoughtful. I have found this book to be an invaluable book for writing essays with a personal touch and for my speech tournaments. U.S. and Foreign Extemp. speakers should really buy this book.
