Rating: Summary: An Ending--If only that.... Review: I loved the first 2 books of the Psi Corps Trilogy and eagerly awaited the arrival of Final Reckoning. As I am a big fan of Bester, and believe I know him pretty well, I found a few things hard to swallow. I highly doubt him falling in love with a mundane no matter the circumstances. This was way out of character and was beyond difficult to believe. I also don't see him becoming as careless as he did in the end. This is Bester we are talking about...he knows how to survive. Like I said..it was an ending...neither great nor terrible...simply an ending.
Rating: Summary: Dont expect everything... Review: This was a great book hands down. Many readers were expecting the telepath war...but last I heard, they were still hoping for a movie of that...although that was before Crusade bombed (which I blame on TNT for changing the whole thing around). But that aside, this book gives great insight o the world of b5.
Rating: Summary: If only they gave an option for 6 stars... Review: If you are a b5 fan, you must read this. (But dont expect it to answer everything.)
Rating: Summary: Somewhat of a disappointment Review: I think that many B5 fans were eagerly anticipating this book with the hopes of learning more about the Telepath War. If that is your sole reason for purchasing this book, save your money! While it does answer some interesting questions as to what transpired within the B5 universe it seemed awfully anticlimactic for what could have a been a very gripping final confrontation between two of the key characters. If nothing else it definitely begs the question now--what happened during the Telepath War????????
Rating: Summary: A satisfying conclusion to the story of B5's best villain. Review: I picked up this book last night and read straight on through till I finished at almost 4 this morning. It was *excellent*. I may be a little biased, since I think I enjoy book & movie villains more than most people should, and being a B5 fan, I was simply ravenous for more Alfred Bester. Greg Keyes does a wonderful wonderful job at capturing Bester in text. As well, it is immensely satisfying to have the loose Mars/Garibaldi/Bester thread tied up...I relished every word. Great book, great series!
Rating: Summary: Disappointing Conclusion Review: I felt that this book was a somewhat disappointing conclusion to the series. The book left a lot of questions unanswered. Also, I thought that the book contained a serious flaw in its plot.
Rating: Summary: Excellent book, Bester fans must read this book. Review: This book was great - better than the first two in the series. Once I started reading it I could not put it down until I finished it. There were some surprises in the plot and a bleak ending. There is a gap in the story from the end of the second book in the trilogy until the beginning of this one and no details of the telepath war. Fans would be fortunate if another book or movie fills in those missing details.
Rating: Summary: An excellent Conclusion to a spectacular trilogy Review: I will admit it, I am something of a fan-boy for B5. However, this book is outside the scope of the B5 series, and brings many threads realating to Bester and the Psi Corp to a close, (although not much is reviled about the Crisis, intentionally done, so no complaint). Anyway, Mr. Keyes did an outstanding job with this series, and his final one was in no way a dissappointment. The mix of humor, action, drama, and even love, was well done. However, my favorite part of the book was the ending, where Bester makes a passionite speech about prejudice against telepaths. While we don't have telepaths in this world, the lesson we can take is the same. And it shows that even Bester isn't all evil.
Rating: Summary: More than a fitting end to this story! Review: Of all three books of the Psi Corps Trilogy, I think this is the best. The characterization is perfect, more than a few bones are thrown regarding the Telepath War, several questions are answered (of course, we do not find out what happens during Lyta and G'Kar's time together, but did we really think we would?), and the end is fitting. Highly recommended -- I got it this afternoon and finished it about 20 minutes ago... now I wish I hadn't read through it so fast!
Rating: Summary: A great way to tie-up a loose end!!! Review: This trilogy is worthy of the series, Babylon 5, and finishes a tantalizing story-line. Any fan of the show should be ashamed to miss this. I have not read much by Keyes. But he has really brought these characters to life. The dialogue that each character speaks is dead-on! It is almost frightening to read Bester's words and hear Walter Koenig's voice! And Garibaldi's Jerry Doyle comes across even better! How this man can imitate the style and speech patterns of several other men's work is beyond me. But he does it! And he tells the story well! The story covers over one hundred and fifty years in the B5 universe, from the birth of the PsiCorp to the career of everyone's favorite villain, Alfred Bester. The suspense just keeps building! When the pace slackens, it comes as a relief and a time to add-up all that has gone before. It also gives the reader a chance to imagine what is yet to come. Be warned! It is VERY often not what you think. As I said, "DO NOT MISS THESE BOOKS!" This first trilogy of Straczinsky's B5 stories is a real page-turner. AND after you devour Bester's saga you have only to wait for Londo's by Peter David in December!
