Summary: Shun it like the plague!
Review: William Shatner thinks he knows Star Trek but this book serves merely to boost his ego. A 62 year old Kirk falls in love with 20 year old woman. This is the worst Trek novel I have read. I'm shunning all of Shatner's novels now,

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: Best star trek book
Review: William Shatner is the best author I ever seen! I love how he protrade Kirk in his greatest adventure yet. I hope he will keep on writing star trek novels like this one!

Summary: Best book I ever read!
Review: William Shatner is a great author. I read most all his books but this one is the greatest! I love how he protraed Kirk in this excellent novel. I just hope that he keeps on writing Star Trek novels.

Summary: Kirk goes out with a Bang!
Review: Ever since the movie Generations was released I had always wondered what Kirk had done previous to the Enterprise B launch. Well, this book explains what he had been doing. This is not my favorite of the Shatner books but certainly a must read if you truly desire to understand sequels. I would, however, like to learn what happened to Sulu, Uhura, and Chekov. So far the Shatner books leave you hanging.

Summary: The True Star Trek saga finally continues...
Review: Starting with this book, Willam Shatner has proven how much he knows about and truly loves Star Trek and its characters. Along with the help of the Reeves-Stevens (They also deserve a high salute as well), Shatner adds some much needed depth to the cheap "death" of Kirk in Star Trek: Generations. He also takes care of some hanging continuity threads from the past movies as well. Gosh! Is it more than satisfying or what to finally see the resolution and evolution of some key questions and themes! The interesting thing here, while reading this, is that word has it Shatner proposed this story for the next Star Trek film. 6 was a great way to go out, but if they would have come back for one more, this would have been it. This story would have merited it, and I gurantee you everyone would have been leaving that theater with tears in their eyes and their fist in the air in victory. All sorts of juicy details are touched upon, including how and why The Genesis Project failed and more about David Marcus's death and everything else. I, too, had a little bit of a struggle seeing the young Teilani go after Kirk. I realize he IS Kirk, but come one, he is 60 years old now. (This is rectified in the following books in the series when Kirk is in the 24th century and Teilani is more his age) Whatever reputation Shatner may have, there is one thing no one should dispute: He knows and loves Star Trek like the back of his hand. It's too bad; as awesome as his books in this series have been, I wish he and Nimoy would take over the reign of control over the Star Trek franchise. I would DIE to see the saga Shatner had portrayed in these books on the big screen. For me, his books are what the movies used to be. Star Trek has become so cheapened, watered down, and politically correct, that when I finally ran across these books, I finally had REAL Star Trek again. Not some soap opera like what it has become. Go ahead: Compare these books to anything Star Trek in the past several years. The difference will make you weep. Here is the difference between love and the almighty dollar.

Summary: Strong theme, varied plot, good read!
Review: "The Ashes of Eden" by William Shatner, is a great book. The idea of having a Klingon-Romulan union makes a good plot. It deals with reunion, time travel, espionage, and Kirk's flair:romance. For all you people who haven't read it, read it! (Paul Heath, aged 9)

Summary: nothing like Avenger
Review: After reading Avenger I decided to move on to Shatner's other books. Boy, did I make a mistake! 60-year old Kirk falls in love with 20-year old Teilani and they call it a great love affair! I like it better in Avenger when Teilani is old and scarred and then Kirk still loves her. This one is nothing but sex.

Summary: A real snoozer
Review: I rarely read a Star Trek book, but I was bored one day and this one at least looked interesting. Boy, was I wrong! Supposedly penned by William Shatner, this book was nothing more than "the Captain Kirk is great" show. Kirk (Shatner) was the hero whom everyone worshiped, and the supporting cast of Star Trek characters were reduced to little more than the Captain Kirk cheering gallery. Thanks to this piece of tripe, I'll never even consider a Start Trek novel again.

Summary: A story that keeps the essence of classic trek so pure.
Review: It was obvious that Kirk having to give up his command would be tuff, now we get a taste of just how tuff. Why this story was not made into the final film for the classic crew is anyones guess. Kirk, now without a crew or ship, is given the opportunity he can not refuse. The command of a star ship and eternal youth. However, to his friends and starfleet collegues he is branded as a traitor.

A story of charm and suspense right up to the thrilling climax

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: he writes star trek like he really is living it 24 -7.
Review: This book is about what happens before generation and after the last movie with the original cast. I loved it because it has all the elements of the show and most of the movies
