Rating: Summary: Be Careful What You Wish For Review: The game Starcraft has been almost universally lauded for its storyline. While playing the game years ago, I couldn't help but wish that someone would turn the storyline into a novel. Apparently, someone heard my wish and sent me Liberty's Crusade. I also realize that I made a mistake. The novel is the serialization of the first 10 missions of the computer game. Which is fine, except that the most interested readers probably already beat the game and know the storyline. The novel doesn't add anything to the Starcraft mythos and manages only to revisit a path that has already been followed. I was hoping for so much more then this novel delivers. The characters that weren't in the original game are at best two-dimensional. Hopefully, the next novel in the series will continue where the game left off and rekindle some of the excitement of the computer game in time for the inevitable (but never soon enough) sequel.
Rating: Summary: Great Book for Starcraft Lovers Review: This book is a wonderful fleshing out of the Terran campaign plot from starcraft. It adds alot of depth and has a decent amount of action in it. It doesn't stick to the game structure or the levels which is a good thing. That was the major problem with the second book which I won't get into here. Anyways I sure hope a book that details the Broodwars campaign comes out. I think it would also be a great read. Keep up the good work!
Rating: Summary: StarCraft Liberty's Crusade #1 Review: The book I bought from you was in great condition. It was shipped as soon as wanted it to be. It was a great book for kids who are under 13. I have a friend who ordered it from the maker, which is Blizzard, and hasn't received it yet, and he ordered it about a month ago. I told him not to order there because it would take a while. He has ordered from you a couple of things and received them within 4 days. I will continue to order from you in the future. I would recomend you to people for your great service. A happy customer, James Farris
Rating: Summary: Great companion to the game Review: This is a great book to read as your playing the game. It helps you learn more about what the heroes are like and what they are feeling. It does through Danny Liberty a reporter that has to take an assignment on the battlecruiser bacause he knew too much and somebody wanted him dead. I think its a good read is great to read while playing the gaming. Book does not cover Brood War. . .
Rating: Summary: This book will actually rival the Nintendo 64 Review: I usually have to use a log chain to get my son away from his Nintendo 64. Reading was apparently out of style. However, after finding the StarCraft book, which correlated with the StarCraft 64 game, I was having trouble getting him to stop reading! I was having to tell him to put the book away and go to sleep and I have not had to do that since Harry Potter! Now do not misunderstand.....this is not a Hardy Boys book! But, it is a book that can capture a teenager's interest and get them to actually read!
Rating: Summary: Has it's weak points, but was a big happy surprise! Review: I didn't think this would be that good, but it was! Even though the story recaps the entire Starcraft saga from the game, it's done from a new insightful viewpoint. Really gets in the mind of the characters!
Rating: Summary: Just great Review: In an excellent work, Jeff Grubb wrote down on paper the great storyline and enviroment of Starcraft. By including a journalist in the story we get the image of a three-race war in the middle of deep space, and best of all, it keeps the original perceptions and images from the PC game. I specially enjoyed the relationships between Mike (protaagonist) and the rest of the Starcraft stars. An other aspect that gave a nice touch is the inclusion of quotes from brefings in the game. A must have for Starcraft and science fiction lovers.
Rating: Summary: Great book and terrific supplement to Episode 1 Review: This book is much more than a regurgitation of the Terran missions in StarCraft. It is a deeper look into the characters that make the series enjoyable, including a lot more on Kerrigan, Raynor, and the rest of the crew. The author creates a great behind-the-scenes of the Terran timeline and makes the descriptions of the various alien units basic enough to understand without a mastery of the game. A great book and a worthy read...a lot better than the second book. Worth reading whether you are familiar with the game or not, but it will make you want to play the game and actually BE the characters! :)
Rating: Summary: Somewhat Dissapointing Review: When I bought the book, I was hoping for some kind of a side story with some more action and not a book that seemed totally linked to the Terran campaign of StarCraft. The book was predictable becuase It was so closely tied to the campaign in the game. Many people thought it was a "Great Read" well, I think that it is to sort of book that you might read to get something else out of starcraft. The book had some technical errors, like calling General Duke Colonel duke, and calling the Terran Confederacy The Confederacy of Man. This book is a read for Past starcraft players only.
