Rating: Summary: You're all wrong Review: they complain about Michale Liberty not being in the game but he is a huge part in the book, well, this is a BOOK. If you want the story just like in the game, then play the GAME! I thought the book was written very well and though it changes the story a little, it still is very good and offers a fresh look at the war between the Terran, Zerg, and Protoss.
Rating: Summary: a book about starcraft Review: i never read the book so dont ask me......stupid.
Rating: Summary: Mike Liberty? Review: I love starcraft, no really, I LOVE StarCraft, but I don't think this book does the starcraft universe justice. My complaint? Mike Liberty... Who is this guy? For someone who plays such a HUGE role in the outcome of events in the StarCraft story, he's never mentioned in the game and for that reason, I was unable to imerse myself in this book. I had hoped this book would be more about a simple reporter's adventures with a group of confederate marines, but instead, this Mike Liberty not only comes in contact with every major character in the game, but befriends them and influences their decisions. Oh well, StarCraft rocks, so this book is good!
Rating: Summary: Pretty good Review: Having just finished writing a review trashing #2, I thought I ought to write a review to praise #1. ;) This book, while not the best thing I've ever read, was still good for casual reading. I enjoyed the unique vantagepoint of Liberty on the characters and events from the terran missions, and it was nice to see things fleshed out a bit more. I enjoyed it so much so, in fact, that as I finished various chapters I would go to the computer and play through the corresponding terran mission just so I could see it again and watch the movies. ;) I am hoping that novelizations of the zerg, protoss, and broodwar missions are also in the works so I can do the same thing. Perhaps Grubb could be talked into continuing the story about Liberty as he goes through those events as well. ;)
Rating: Summary: Good for what it is, but poor for what it isn't. Review: Unfortunately, "Liberty's Crusade" doesn't measure up with similar adaptations of sci-fi universes. But as a page-turning paperback, it does it's job. Instead of ramble on about how extremely good or bad it is, I'll just give the pro's and con's. Stays faithful to most original plot, which is good I suppose. It expanded out the Mar Sara plot a bit more, which is a good thing since it was interesting. The character development is decent. It borrows *too* much from outside sources, such as the original StarCraft campaigns, the Dune novels (the writing style is basically ripped off from Frank Herbert's own), etc. This makes it boring.
Rating: Summary: A boring start, but an AMAZING finish Review: I have always wished that some director would see the beauty of StarCraft's sotry line and transform it into a movie. Well, part of my wish came forth when this book was published. The first few chapter were boring and I was about to put the book aside. However, I read on just for the heck of it. But, as I reached the fifth/sixth chapter, I was so engrossed into the book, i couldn't leave it! I stayed up 2 nights just to finsih it! The only downfall is that the book takes teh original starcraft mission story line and protrays it through a reporter. I would've preferred something that built on where the game ended.... perhaps soon!
Rating: Summary: If you love StarCraft, than you'll love this book!!! Review: Hey StarCraft fans. Love StarCraft but can't play it? Than get the book and read it before you play it! This story is about a reporter who travels with the Terran Confederacy (later the Dominion). The beginning is a little slow but as the story progresses, the story quickly unfolds and you start feeling the excitment of the #1 game in the U.S. If you are a Terran fan like me, than you will like this book because it describes in great detail about how the Terran kick some alian butt!!!
Rating: Summary: Excellent Opening Book Review: I was pleasantly surprised at this book. Most gaming related fiction is little more than advertisements for the subject it is based upon. Though the characters and game are recognizeable, the story is told through the eyes of a reporter that is not a recognizeable character. Add this to a plot with more twists and turns than a Zerg hive and you have an excellent book in which nothing is black and white. I heartily recommend it.
Rating: Summary: Starcraft #1: Liberty's Crusade Review: This book was great and I recommend it to anyone who likes wars between humans and aliens set in the future. It's a little slow in the beginning but starting in the middle to end, the story line becomes exciting, especially the battles of the Terrans against the Zergs and Protosses. Jeff Grubb's writing was very descriptive in this book. I couldn't put the book down.
Rating: Summary: good Review: this book was very good. it gave you a little backround on some of the characters. if u like to play the game starcraft then you should buy this book.
