Summary: Unbelievably reminiscant of Douglas Adams...A SciFi Classic
Review: "Your Own Death, and How to Cope With It." The first beginning line of Infinity Welcomes Careful Drivers. I knew it would be a trip. In a way only the british possess (and the Americans want to), there is an unmistakenable humor to this book that I have found in only the best science fiction books around-The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy, as well as the Discworld books. They are all similar in the writing style...anyway, on with the quick retelling..

Lister, the main character (who reminds me eerily of myself, should he have been a girl), finds himself "awake on a park bench, and unable to explain how he had gotten there" a few hundred million miles from home. While deciding as to how he can hitch a ride back to the good ol' third rock, he joins the Space Corps (Join the Space Corps, See the Galaxy, I suppose). A freakish, improbable (but not impossible) accident occurs while doing so, and results in Lister being frozen for three million years...a sort of pseudo-punishment for bringing a cat onto his ship while on shore duty.

He then meets up with Rimmer (who claims that Lister does not say his name correctly, as ``RIM-mer" sounds like a "toilet bowl cleaner") an aspiring officer who can't make it past changing the soup in the vending machines on the ship, and an increasingly senile computer, named Holle (who is not completely unlike HAL9000)...The Cat, too, is an evolved form of..well, a cat. Only a bipedel, obsessive over his clothing and food, as well as his style.

Infinity Welcomes Careful Drivers is the funniest of any of the Red Dwarf books out there, including Better Than Life (this is often disputed, but I'm telling the truth here). Any fan of Douglas Adams or Terry Prachett will get a kick out of this book, and also find a set of characters that are about as realistic as they come.

Summary: fun and science fiction
Review: Usually I am turned off by science fiction and fantasy, I thought I just didn't have the imagination - but this book changed all that. After watching a few of the programmes on BBC I bought the book and read it all in one go (and then reread it about 12 times since). This is the best of the Red Dwarf books - some of them are gorier (Better than Life) or lose the plot a bit (Backwards) but this one is a comic classic. The description of Rimmers studying techniques never fails to make a smirk. Give yourself a real treat and read this book. Then smeg off!

Summary: A Red Dwarf fan would have to be nuts not to read this!
Review: This is a book that kept me laughing. I'd even find myself laughing out loud durring school when I read it, and though people gave me weird looks, I couldn't help it, and laughed anyway. Any Red Dwarf fan would love this book! The only bad thing about it was that it ended! Trust me, this and Better Than Life are the best books you'll ever read!

Summary: One quick night..
Review: I work nights and plenty of times there is absolutely nothing to do at work, other than just be there in case something does happen, but it never does..

Except maybe see why the dispensers are dispensing raspberry frappe instead of soup. But that only takes a few minutes.

I started this book right after getting to work at 7pm.

I finished this book right before going home at 7am.

I read it start to finish with all the fervor of a school boy reading a comic book.

Comic books for adults..

GREAT BOOK! BUY IT NOW! YOU KNOW YOU WANT TO...

Well, I have to go see if a doctor can do anything about that H on my head.. It's kinda itchy!

Summary: Brill-smegiing-illiant!
Review: This book kept me laughing no stop! Which was a bad thing when I was reading it in class because I would laugh out loud, and then everyone would look up and stare at me. It was the greatest book I've ever read. (In which, I read it 3 times so far.) The only problem with it, was that it ended!
